Rebels clash called off

FC United's clash with Atherton LR has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.

The Rebels have not played a home game in 2007 and boss Karl Marginson was keen to push on and start playing some of the six games in hand they have over North West Counties League leaders Salford City.

FC have allowed Liam Coyne to return to Leigh RMI for the rest of the season, with the 19-year-old centre back only making 12 appearances for the club this season.

Quorn finally met a superior team and have now been minced. Curzon this years Champions elect are still on course to make it to Wembley. At least someone is there flying to flag for Manchester. Now how does it go? Athletic and United one soul one City Bury and FC one ground one town.

Next up, WARRINGTON TOWN FC v. FC UNITED. Our midseason friendly is back on (unless of course inclement weather causes another cancellation) this Tuesday 13th February 2007, at Cantilever Park, Common Lane, Latchford, Warrington, WA4 2RS. k.o. 7.30pm. Admission is free. DIRECTIONS. Few ways of doing this but heres one. From the M60 ring road take the M56 to Jct 9 and change for the M6 north to Jct 20. Exit the motorway at Jct 20 and take the A50 (Knutsford Road) for Warrington. Continue along the A50 for about 2 miles until you cross over the Ship Canal then take your first left onto Station Rd. Drive to the end of Station Road, about 700 yards, turning left onto Wash lane. Take an immediate second left onto Common lane and Cantilever Park is about 75 yards ahead. Viva la revolution, come on FC.

Malcolm, if FC are from Bury and you choose to keep to strict geographical bounderies then you will know full well Curzon don't come from Manchester but from Ashton which is in Tameside, so you will habe to lower that flag for Manchester as it doesn't count! as for salford Judas guy I will watch FC when I like and United when and where I like and you can do absolute nowt about it. and the game being called off why? salford, Maine Rd, & trafford all had games?? Despite Malcolms rants Bury is only 5 miles away is the weather that different!!!

The depth of FC's squad is such that they send a payer that can not get a first team game on loan to start for club that is 3 divisions higher up!

Ok George Curzon and United the pride of south Manchester! I think FC didnt play because they prefer a really hard surface - something like a parking lot to kick around on. Cant they play on the square at Piccadilly or is the skating rink still there?

Then again, facts have never been your strongpoint.
Why don't you join the current trend, Malc, and buy the Curzon Athletic franchise, as I am sure your deep respect for English football tradition is every bit as sincere as that of the Glazers, Lerner, Gillett and Co
As for Judas boy, didn't Judas sell out for a handful of silver? You need to look a lot closer to home, pal, if you want to find those who have gone back on their word after declaring they were "Not for Sale". Maybe FC should use some of their gate revenue to make some improvements in Gigg Lane. Try installing pipes to heat the ground (ala Lambeau field) and a better drainage system.

Tommy/Malcolm/Walnut dashboard/whatever - that would be a good idea. Lots of Fcer's have said the same thing. All we need is 100k and that there lies the problem. More dead money when we are saving for our own ground. Better to get our own place methinks. Like your thinking though, bit child minded, but what the heck. It's better than your usual pro-glazer stuff.

Typical of FC United 's community spirit is the fact that there will be no admission charge for tonight's away friendly match at Warrington Town FC. Kick off is at 7:30 PM

Warrington is currently one division higher than FC in the Unibond first division.

Warrington 1-5 FC United. It was a ground soft night to say the least and on arrival my first thought was "I wonder if this one will be called off as well". Fortunately, for those of us that went, it wasn't and we were rewarded with a superb display of attacking football from FC. With two goals in the first half and three in the second from Rudd, Patterson and Nugent, Warrington managed a consolation goal late on. But in a tie we dominated from start to finish the score line probably flatters Warrington a bit. In the second half the Warrington keeper took a lot of stick from the FC fans. He had a scant resemblance to Charlie Chaplin so that became his nick name with loads of sarcastic banter about his posture and monkey like walk. I think he tried to pretend he wasn't bothered by giving us the thumbs up, but it became clear we were getting to him when he started leaking goals left right and centre (quite literally) and finally, much to our delight, had a proper snapper at his team mates to shouts of "cry in a minute, he's gonna cry in a minute" from us lot. It really was a top match but funnily enough my most enduring memory wasn't so much the match, but more about the location. I knew the ground was along side the Manchester Ship canal as this is my second visit so I can't say I thought much about it at first. That was until looking to my left across the park, I saw the top of a ship emerge above the stand behind the goals. Nothing unusual about a ship on a ship canal, but there was still something serial about watching a ship sail past so far in land. This result sets us up nicely for our league cup quarter final v. Silsden this Saturday. Viva la revolution, come on FC.

I knew we were in a mess at Warrington Town but after last nights performance we are going to be joining you lot in NWCL 1 next season. At least the new manager got to see how big the job is hes got facing him. Glad to see you lot didnt kick off like I was told you would. I thought more of you good time Johnnys would have made the trip. Still it wasnt a cup final was it.

I'd be up for a bit of that Salford red. Not lease of all because we haven't had a semi yet! If we both make the semi I trust your lads will put in a better performance than the lads from Cougar Park did last night. You certainly have the tie of the quarter final v. Curzon Ashton. Given a choice I would have preferred that one. Not that we have anything to fear from Silsden. Last time we played them we battered them 4-1 with our Rory Patterson scoring from the centre circle. Still with our poor cup record I hope our lads treat Silsden with the respect they deserve or Silsden might just do a Quorn on us.

Oh, by the way, it's a good job step 4 is being restructure and a minimum of 12 extra clubs are needed from step 5 or I think Warrington would do a Winsford. Ironically it is unlikely Warrington will be playing in the same Unibond division that FC United will be playing in next season because they are on the wrong side of the M62. At least that is what it said in last nights programme.
