Wright ready for Colls clash

FC UNITED will hand Jerome Wright a debut when they go seeking revenge over Atherton Collieries at Hilton Park (3pm).

The former Maine Road winger signed for the Rebels before Christmas, but his first appearance has been delayed by a three-match suspension.

"I am excited about seeing him play," says manager Karl Marginson, who also welcomes back Josh Howard after suspension but will be without left-back Alex Mortimer (hamstring) and has doubts over Garey Sampson and Matty Taylor.

"Jerome was on Oldham's books and was out for 18 months with a bad injury. But he has everything - he is quick, has a good left peg and is brave."

Salford City snatched back top spot in the North West Counties League with a 6-2 win at St Helens Town on Wednesday.

This should be a cracking match back where we played our first ever match against Leigh RMI back in July 2005. Since then, Leigh has a FC United supporters branch whom on Saturday, in conjunction with Bar Bliss Leigh, have invited all FC fans to join them for a pre and post match get together. Bar Bliss offer a range of food and will be the place to go on Saturday before and after the match. The Bar Bliss is located in the middle of Leigh town centre opposite the bus station. Directions to the Ground: From the North: Exit J23 from M6, towards Manchester on A580. Take the A579 (Bolton, Pennington Flash). At lights (ASDA on left), turn right, right again into Glebe Street, right into Chadwick Street. The ground is straight ahead. From the South: Exit J22 from M6. Take A572 (Winwick Lane) towards Leigh, then the A580 (Manchester).Left onto the A579 (Bolton, Pennington Flash). At lights (ASDA on left), turn right, right again into Glebe Street, right into Chadwick Street. The ground is straight ahead. From the East: M1, M62, M60 (anti-clockwise): Leave the M60 at junction 14 for the A580 towards Liverpool, take the A579 signposted Bolton and Pennington Flash, continue along this road till you see the ASDA Store on left and the football ground on right, turn right at the traffic lights then right again into Glebe St, next right into Chadwick St and ground straight ahead. By Rail:Travel by Rail the nearest station is Atherton Central on the Rochdale Southport line. trains run every 30mins and it takes approx 24 mins from Manchester Victoria. The 582 Bus from outside the station is every 10 mins and goes directly to the ground a journey of about 10 mins. Parking: Be advised that all matchday parking will be available on the Leigh East side of the ground and that for Health & Safety purposes the end behind the goal known locally as the Asda end will be closed and cordoned off. Atherton Collieries 0-3 FC United. A brace from Swarbrick and a poacher's goal from Rudd wiped out the Miner upset of losing 0-3 at home against the Colls last November. The Colls tried to muscle a reply, but without Pilkington, they looked ordinary. In the end it was a comfortable win. This sets us up nicely for what could prove to be a title decider against Curzon Ashton at Gigg lane next Saturday. Viva la revolution, come on FC.
