FC to meet Quorn

FC United have face Quorn at home in the third round of the FA Carlsberg Vase.

The reds rebels beat Salford City 3-2 at the weekend in the second round.

"Follow, follow, follow, - cos United aren't going to Barrow" (near Quorn) along the ancient Manchester road to London (A6). I wouldn't have minded having this one away if only for the song. On a different note, FCUM TV will be on channel M again tonight for the third programme in our weekly TV show. Programme starts from at 7.30pm'ish. Tonight feature the highlights of last weekends league cup match v. Namtwich Town. Viva la revolution, come on FC.

A bit of background on the Loughborough club. Quorn currently occupy fifth position in the Midland Football Alliance, which is at step five of the non-league pyramid, the same as the North West Counties Division One. The Leicestershire side are 17 points behind leaders Leamington but have two games in hand. Their passage through to Round Three of the Vase has seen them beat Midland Combination Division One outfit Heather Athletic FC 5-0 at home in the Second Qualifying Round, before overcoming two league rivals Market Drayton Town 2-1 away in the First Round Proper and Boldmere St Michaels 1-0 away in Round Two. I can't say I know much more about them, but I haver been told that Quorn are no push over. Good job we aren't either.

I am sure Margy will have done his homework on Quorn before the FA Vase game. I expect a very competitive game. The league that Quorn are in (Midland Alliance) have 8 teams still in the FA Vase, whereas the league FC are in only have 3.

Should be a cracker of a game. Nice to be able to play someone not in our own league for once. I have faith Margy will have the lads ready for this and our march will continue. Over by Christmas huh?

Lets stop mincing about on this because Quorn are going to make short work of removing plastic United from the FA Vase. So ya think you have a chance of getting to Wembley? There is more chance of the 2012 Olympics coming in on budget or FC getting a ground in Manchester (note not as close as somewhere in the GMC).

Next up, FC UNITED v, STONE DOMINOES. I like to savour one match a time and after our back to back away cup wins in both FA Vase and league Cup, our next home league match will be played this Saturday 25th November 2006 at Gigg lane. k.o. 3.00pm. Entrance is pay on the gate ¿¿7 adults, ¿¿5 concessions and ¿¿2 for under 18s. Last seasons relegation favourites Stone Dominoes were only spared the drop due to the new step 6 division being formed. This year they once again find themselves favourites for the drop having won 0, drawn 2 and lost 17. They have a young team of relatively inexperienced players so Margie might give some of our fringe players a run out. Viva la revolution, come on FC.

Oops, my mistake. It was an extra step 5 division created for this season with an extra step 4 league being created for next season. The latter may mean more than one promotion place from the NWCFL which is something that won't have been lost on our title rivals.

A follow on from my last thread. A meeting of the Football Associations Leagues Committee held at Soho Square on Thursday agreed that there will be six Divisions at Step 4 of the game (the level at which the UniBond League First Division plays at) from season 2007/8 and two of those Divisions will be administered by the UniBond League. It was also agreed that each of these two Divisions will consist of a minimum of eighteen clubs. To achieve this no more than three clubs from any league at Step 5 will be promoted except with the permission of the league concerned. In order to be promoted clubs must achieve Ground Grading Category E by 31st March 2007. The Leagues Committee will appraise the situation at its meeting on 21st February 2007. The decision is subject to approval by the FA Council. I think Maine Road need about 20k to achieve category E so it will be inteesting to see who actually goes up.

Fred there is no doubt lots of information packed into this but there are just way too many numbers for me here. What is it you are trying to say? Does anyone know if there is a campaign group for the plain numbers? This is getting a little like Football Manager where each victory is greeted by salivating thoughts of moving on to the next level. A little like a real time PC game with certain individuals keeping hold of the joy stick.
