Rebels in bid for revenge

FC United are on a revenge mission after drawing Salford City in the second round proper of the FA Vase.

Salford ended the Rebels' 100 per cent start to the season last week with a 2-1 league win in a match which attracted 4,058 fans to the Willows.

Now the North West Counties first division promotion-chasers clash again on November 18, and Salford are hoping to make a decision on the venue by the end of the week.

Said secretary Bill Taylor: "Our own Moor Lane ground is an option, but the problem is that we are only licensed for 1,400 and after last week that is nowhere near enough."

Salford City Reds are said to have been happy with the staging of the match at their stadium, despite a tense atmosphere between the two sets of fans, so a return to the Willows is also a possibility.

The Willows is a great ground and if at all possible I think this would be the right place despite the few no marks that turned up on Tuesday. The only changes I would make would be to increase Policing around the ground and implement segregation. I also think it should be an all ticket affair. This is not a reflection of Salford City FC and the real fans that go to their matches. It isnt their fault they had their match hijacked by non-fans idiots, but in the interest of public safety it is best to lean on the side of caution. It should also make it easier to identify the idiots and for the Police to accommodate them accordingly.

not at the willows when all is said and done money will be the driver however fc utd is about fans and enjoyment there was a hell of a lot houligans from salford at the game the other night intent on trouble on the enviroment for children i for one will not go if the game is there!

Well FC may be looking for revenge but it will be Salford City who will be in the next round. With United away to Sheffield United on the 18th why not play the game at Old Trafford. Thats if the FC fans and players can find their way there.

Free Red Salford City hooligans? Surely with FC's track record and trying to incite the Salford fans you really ought to be looking to yourselves to apportion blame. Don't you realise that your anti United approach isn't welcome in Salford or for that matter Manchester.

Gary - Salford, you clearly didn't read Free Reds point. He clearly stated that the real Salford City fans were not to blame. There were some local scallies in the gorund that got caught up in the heat of the night. FC Utd do not have a reputation as a poorly behaved crowd and you can ask anyone from GMP that. I hope it does go ahead at the Willows and agree with Free Red that all ticket and segregation is the most sensible approach. It should prove to be the tie of the round.

And the sideways dig at Salford City and their...100 or so fans... and you wonder why the FCUM's are so disliked? If you are no longer supporters of the reds, why is it that the manyoo web page is full of comments by wannabees like you trying to justify your actions of trurning against your, ahem "One Love"! You show all the virtue and loyalty of Charlie from Coronation Street! What will happen should the Glazers sell up? Will you return, in a fanfare of banner waving collaborators, down Busby Way? The worst sort of fan is the bandwagon-jumper... and I bet you are wearing one right now!

I have said numerous times that there were a small minority of trouble makers who were non-fans. I have defended Salford City FC to the hilt. You would do well to remember it will be Salford City who will have to pick up the cost of the extra Policing.

I go to O/T when I want and Bury when I want..Its a Red thing and a Blue would never understand. I was with the Salford City fans at the right hand side of the shed. There was about 100 and they had to be loyal to be overheard above the Salford (United) mob.

Due to trouble from first game extra police will be needed and as City are home on same day i think it will be made all ticket and switched to twelve o clock kick off or even played on Sunday. As for ground it will be Willows.

Neil DROYLSDEN. Glazer doesnt care who pays his debt and youre opinion means nothing because YOU DONT HAVE A SAY in the running of United or who can go. What about the ground for this fixture then. Well guess what, I now support United on TV and FC United live. Only difference is I dont go round telling others which two clubs they can support or how.

J Murphy Wigan, there was nothing wrong with the willows, the majority of hooligans were not from salford but other parts of Manchester. But being from Wigan how would you know all the hooligans from Salford. A general sweeping statement, from a nobody.
This element will most likely be in sheffield on the 18th Nov, jibbing into the ground there. So it will be quite safe to come to the willows.

I still to this day believe the Glazers will fail and if i'm proved right the only thing left to carry on the soul of Man Utd will be FC Utd. If they manage to keep it going it will be everybody's expense but their own. In a very good season they still won't make enough to meet the repayments on the loans placed on the club. Que sara sara . . . ! As for the present, Man Utd are top of the Premiership with Champions League games on the horizon and FC Utd top of the NW Counties with an F.A. Vase game coming up next month. I'll watch Man Utd on the tele and go to the FC Utds games, why? because i choose to !

These attacks on Free Red are inappropriate. I have been on this board for a long time and he has never attacked United supporters in any way. He clearly differentiates between Glazer and Manchester United and his loyalty to the later is unquestionable. Nor has he attacked United supporters who choose to continue their patronage of Old Trafford. He simply chooses not to give his financial support to the Glazer family. FC United is not a replacement or substitute for his love of United, but an offspring of it. The way I see it, it's like Manchester United had a baby, FC United. Some people may see it as a b******, but some of us love it like it is one of our own. But we still honor where it came from and we still consider ourselves part of the family.

There goes little jokey again. Now the FC mob are starting to shift their position to watching United on TV (Sky receipts etc go to MUFC by the way) and going to FC games. Whats changed just the invention of FC. As for calling anyone who disagrees with FC a City fan it just goes to show the paucity of the arguments. The fact is FC turned their backs on United plain and simple. FC's strip should be yellow.

Tony P I have seen Free Red attack many United and non United posters. His main pretence in trying to defend his antagonism is that the posters are not football fans, do not know anything about football, are armchair fans (rich coming from someone who watches United on TV) or greatest of all sins are not FC or United fans (even though quite clearly they are United fans). All of this pious holier than thou posturing understandably gets up peoples noses. He also appears to be totally devoid of a sense of humour. Apart from the above I think he's a thoroughly decent chap. PS I think 50 quid spent at United is good value for money too.
