FC United marched five points clear at the top of the North West Counties League first division last night.
They scored four goals in the space of 18 second-half minutes to finally break the resistance of a spirited Glossop side in front of a crowd of 1,219 at Hyde United's Ewen Fields ground.
Rory Patterson, Stuart Rudd (two) and Simon Carden scored.

Great start to the season. I was in some doubt as to whether we would have what it took to be in the top three, but so far so good. I agree with prev comments about the full backs going forward but have to say I am more than a little concerned with the new left backs defensive qualities and his passing is just plain woeful, but hey you cant have everything! Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we can get scores quickly following games? I dont find it all that easy.
One final comment, how good is Rudd!!!

I agree 100% and am hoping holidays are the reason! I am pretty concerned (small c though) about attendences being down, although the atmoshere is just as good!
But I was expecting bigger crowds than last year (particularly after the final home game).
Lets hope its a blip.

Billy Mcartney has gone to Trafford FC (Joz Mitten to Flixton by the way)
and Craig, you can get live match updates for FC via www.fcunitedofmanchester.co.uk (and much more) or the excellent www.tonykempster.btinternet.co.uk.
Hope this helps.

Our first Wednesday home game had a bigger crowd than the first home Wednesday game last year and our first home Saturday game had a larger crowd than the first home Saturday home game last year.
It is expected at this time of year attendances at this level will be lower than the season average due to so many poeple being on holiday.

I'll be there for both if I can be arsed. Todays so called fans think that if you dont go every game then you arent proper fan. More like you are an anorak. If you look to the glorious 60's and seventies there are massive differences in some home game attendances. it didnt make those reds less of a United fan.

There is nothing wrong with going to see MUFC but it`s too soon to say none of the predictions have come true.
Just becuase they are doing well now does not mean that the debt is not a problem.
The debt has not gone away and it`s the fans who will have to pay it off through ever increasing ticket prices.
Also what will happen if the team have a lean spell for a few years?
