FC United smash attendance record

BREAKAWAY club FC United smashed their own short-lived North West Counties League attendance record at Gigg Lane this afternoon.

After recording the first 3,000+ gate against Oldham Town on Wednesday, the club formed by supporters opposed to Malcolm Glazer’s takeover of Manchester United attracted 3,808 for Saturday’s encounter with Daisy Hill despite the counterattraction of England’s World Cup qualifier against Austria at Old Trafford.

Karl Marginson’s side kept the home fans happy too, romping to a 6-0 win to consolidate their place at the top of the table.

Pub football needs crowds like this. Talk about money for old rope. More like opium of the masses. Why not go and watch a kickabout on the local green. Lots of goals there too but no rip off.

I'm a long term fan of Stockport County - the small club of Gtr Mcr - and a Man U sympathiser. Football has become the vehicle for sharks, mercenries and people with morals of the gutter. The Premiership now makes my skin crawl and even football at our level is over priced and over hyped. FCU are a breath of fresh air - fans from the grass routes who care only about the spirit of their team. More and more people are going to want this as ultimately the commercial side of the game is appealing to a dwindling market. Keep it going FCU -this is a footballing legend in the making.

Message to Head in sand, You just donb�TMt see it do you? Football is football no matter what level it is played at. The pleasure is supporting your team through your presence and through your vocal support. Supporting your team has nothing to do with scraping every extra penny you have, so you can pay of some egotistical maniacb�TMs debt off! I have a suggestion to the people who are knocking FC United. Try moving to Manchester and joining FC United and realising what being a football fan is all about!

The total deceit that is FCUM and its camp followers rolls on. It already charges more than teams playing at the same standard and yet you are glorying in it. Such empty lives you lead. Better to be big fish in a puddle than small fish in an ocean? Plastic United. At least the NWCL web site has got it right. It calls you FA United. I've got plenty of nothing, nothings plenty for me.

Just to update this story, the highest home attendance was over 6k, the highest away was over 4k and highest freindly away was over 7k. and the home average was over 3k. Know one in their right mind could not deny thse figures are phenonemal. The ABU brigade thought United would be gone by Xmas...er not a chance...not in your scariest dreams. United are here to stay...you will find us at Old Trafford, Bury, Blackpool and Benfica....and your worst nightmares have come true "There's Two United's"
