In an important new development, Sir Richard Lease, Leader of Manchester City Council is calling for support.
Former United player Lee Sharpe has given his backing and Hollyoaks actor, Carley Stenson, says: "I’ll get rooting through my wardrobe." James Nesbitt is also offering support and John Henshaw has once again given us his backing and hopes to publicise the event on air.
But just so the winter weather doesn’t beat us, for those members of the public who wish to donate before the game we are asking them to deliver their donations to Big Coat Day c/o Mustard Tree, 110 Oldham Road Manchester M4 6AG at any time from January 11th to January 15th between 9am and 5pm.
FC United fans can also bring their contributions to the club offices at any time between 9.30am and 4.30pm during weekdays up to 15th January.

Is it just 'coats' that will be accepted at Mustard Tree?
On a separate topic; my daughter bought me the 'Looking for Eric' DVD as a Xmas present (thoroughly enjoyed it). Did FC United have anything to do with the production of the film?

15/01/2010 at 10:56. Any warm cloths are being collected so jumpers, scarf's etc all good, so anything that is clean and in reasonable condition. From our site: Big Coat Day may have been hit by the weather but we have a job to finish, so Son of Big Coat Day will be the 16th January Bradford Park Avenue fixture when homeless organisations, Boaz Trust and Mustard Tree will bring their van again for the collection between 1pm and 3pm. Regards Looking for Eric. FC United fans were in the film. They were in the part where the yobs house got trashed wearing Eric masks and in the background as extras in just about every scene. You might spot Andy Walsh sat at the bar if you know what he looks like. Other United fans from UWS and Red issue were also in the production.

Yes, I saw the FC supporters in the film, but there was a flyer in the DVD offering free tickets to an FC United game. It made me wonder whether FC United had more to do with the production of the film, rather than just appearing as extras.
Anyway, good luck with the rest of your season, and it looks like you might be getting some more belated support with the goings on at Owe Trafford.
