FC United's Unibond Premier League fixture at Ashton has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
The Rebels return to action when they host Ossett Town on New Years Day (3pm).
Meanwhile, new goalkeeping coach Joe Paladino has only been at FC United a matter of weeks - but already sees himself staying for years to come.
The former Everton and Wigan reserve keeper joined the Rebels’ coaching staff recently and is enjoying every minute of his time at the club.
“This is a fantastic club with unbelievable fans. It's like being at a professional club and I love it here," said Paladino.
"For the next three or four years I’ll be staying whatever happens - the only way I’ll leave is if the club don’t want me anymore.”
Italian-born Paladino, who is also an ex-professional heavyweight boxer, had been out of football since 2005 but has now set his sights on coaching in the football league in the future.
However, he insists he won’t necessarily have to leave FC to fulfil this ambition.
“I run an amateur boxing club but football is my first love, so when Karl (Marginson) got in touch I had no hesitation in coming here.
“I’ll be 50 in six years and my plan is to be coaching in the football league by then, but who says that can’t be here?”
“This club is geared up for the football league and I don’t see any reason why we can’t get there. I don’t think getting to League Two in the next five years is an impossibility.”
Paladino has been working closely with FC’s number one Sam Ashton and has been hugely impressed by the 23-year-old.
“I’ve got the easiest job in non-league football because Sam’s immense,” he said.
“I don’t want to build him up too much but he’s in the Shay Given mould. He’s not the biggest but he’s got everything, and he’s still young so he can get better.”

Jerome returns on NY Day plus 2 or 3 new players we've brought in...that is if Stade le Gigg is not frozen/snowbound/under water.

It's not just a possibility it's almost inevitable. Not that I'm in any rush to have kick off times changed for the benefit of TV watching numpties.
who have we signed?
it'll be off!
Big Coat Day 2010. Big Guys Back Bigger Coats Day – Make Your New Year's Revolution. Fresh from winning the award for Best Supporting Actor at the British Independent Film Awards for his part as an FC United fan in Looking For Eric, comedian John Henshaw has given his backing to Big Coat Day on New Year's Day. FC United supporters are being asked to bring spare winter clothing for the homeless and needy to the Ossett Town fixture at Gigg Lane next Friday. Henshaw's Looking For Eric drinking partner and fellow comic, Justin Moorhouse is also supporting the day. He said: "Being a man who has always needed a big coat, I appreciate the need for big coats and I hope everyone gets behind the collection." Withington MP, John Leech and Bury South MP, Ivan Lewis will be in attendance too. Last year, the impact of the cold winter months on the North West took someone's life every half hour. General Manager, Andy Walsh believes shocking statistics like that prove why the campaign is so important. He said: "Big Coat Day may have started as a bit of fun to show we had reached our first Christmas and it still is fun. But it is also an important statement showing that our supporters continue to care for all our community." Further support has come from the Unison branches in Salford and Bury, Jobcentre Plus staff teams, the homeless organisation, Mustard Tree, which serves 6,000 homeless in Greater Manchester, the Salvation Army, refugee groups, the Boaz Trust and Eagle's Wing, as well as Labour and Conservative councillors representing Bury wards. North West Health organisation, Our Life is also backing the event as our Bolton Primary Care Trust. And, having invited members of the co-operative movement to attend the day, we can also look forward to staff from Co-operatives UK, The Co-operative Pharmacy, the Co-operative Group, Salford Community Leisure, The Co-operative College and Co-operatives North West being in the stands. In 2007 we moved mountains of coats and created a four and a half ton mountain outside Gigg Lane. Don't forget to bring spare winter clothing for the collection in the stadium forecourt by the Salvation Army and Boaz Trust.
It hailarious - first a mobile greengrocer for manager, now an ex professional heavyweight boxer for goalkeeping coach. Whats next? Nick Leeson to oversee the investment and commercial arm of FC Utd?.
Truly the comedy club, keep it coming boys, we will need the laughs going into 2010.
I don't know what's you see so funny about Joe Paladino having being a professional boxer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was a pro-wrestler and you Berties would have him manager your Reserve team any day. Paladino has played for Everton and has expressed dedication to FC United. But what about city's owner Sheikh ya'booty who we all now know is to be Real Madrid supporter. Now that Real'ly is funny (lol)
Free Red, it was Solskjær's dad that was the wrestler - grecoroman I think not the kent walton joke variety. However it is amusing to read a City fan calling some other club the comedy club. It is a long time since I lived in Manchester, but do they still sell the light blue Oxo cubes there? You know, the ones you use to make laughing stock.
Dukinfield Bitter reminds me of that character in the Fast Show...Colin Hunt. I bet he'd empty a full pub of punters if he walked in one! The MEN moderators must be bored senseless having to vet his posts lol!
J.J. I stand corrected, but what about Roberto Mancini admitting on air that he had smoked cannabis. No wonder the deluded Leicester reject thinks he can win the Premiership with city in May (lol)
i've just been on the bolton thread to have a look at the comments of which there are three and two of them are by bitter blues!
Great effort by our fans today to prepare Gigg for Friday's game. Gives it a better chance than before of it actually taking place....another postponement would make it 4 weeks without a match so fixture backlog ensues!
Fuzzy re your comment about the Bolton story with Citeh fans on it, with Citeh fans posting on other clubs threads or Utd fans doing the same on Citehs side, i don't get it either. People who do this are probably quite dim. I've nothing to say about Megson, Sheikh Bin Whatsisface or anyone else at another club as i just don't care!
