The Rebels lost their opening two games against Boston and Bradford and had to come from behind to rescue a point against Retford at the weekend.
But ahead of the clash with against Marine tonight, general manager Andy Walsh insisted the results do not tell the full story.
He said: "It has been our worst start - ironically, when we've got the strongest squad - but that's football.
"We've had a tough start - Boston and Bradford will be there fighting for the title. Nobody is panicking."
FC beat Marine 3-2 twice last term and Walsh expects another tough game at Gigg Lane.
"Any battle between a team from Merseyside and a team from Manchester has an extra edge to it."

Two losses and a draw I should think not. Go ten games without a win and I might just raise an eyebrow. Bring on the Mickeys!

Almost 1,900 fans packed into Gigg Lane to see the Rebels take on high flying Marine. Games between Manchester and Merseyside clubs are always tense affairs, and with FC United seeking to lift themselves out of the bottom two this game was no different.
Rob Nugent put the Rebels into the lead with an early goal. Ben Deegan doubled the advantage two minutes into the second half and Jamie Mack made it 3-0 to United at the death.
The victory sees the Rebels leap up to mid table.
In the Zamaretto Premier, Truro City gave hosts Swindon Supermarine a 4-0 hiding. The victory sees newly promoted Truro move up to 4th spot, while Supermarine tumble to 5th from bottom.
Farnborough move into pole position after Bradley Bubb’s first half goal earned the Hampshire side a 1-0 victory against visitors Didcot.
Two dropped points saw Cambridge City slip to 3rd as they could only muster a point in a 1-1 draw at Halesowen Town.
In the Zamaretto South & West, Thatcham won 3-1 at Frome Town. And East Thurrock won 3-0 at Ilford in a Ryman North encounter.

Match gay progs feature answers to some of the great question of the 21st Centaury. For example have you ever wondered which make of power tools Margy prefers? Or whether he's ever been on a float in a parade? Well the answers to those and many of life's other crucial questions are contained in Saturday's matchday programme. Much to the dismay of the staticians among our crowd, there’s no match reports in it, but this has freed up space for a host of features ranging from Margy's 20 questions to a review of MaD's excellent play Angels with Manky Faces. It features Alf Marginson and a few of the players messing about and wowed audiences at the Library Theatre recently. Our reviewer won't shut up about it.
There's an excellent piece on the 100th anniversary of Manchester's original football rebels The Outcasts and Talkative Chris takes you on a tour of our future haunts. He uncovers interesting, and plainly uninteresting, facts about the likes of Kings Lynn and Durham. For example, both places boast famous drummers - Roger Taylor of Queen fame hails from Kings and some pole dancing doctor comes from Durham.
As Burscough are the opponents there’s articles on their favourite son Bob Langton and their FA Trophy triumph at Villa Park in 2003. All this, and more, for £2 to your football club.
If you have yet to purchase your season ticket don't despair!!! Season Tickets will be available to purchase from the ticket office (next to Bury FC's club shop) before the Burscough home game this Saturday 29th September.
The ticket office will be open from 12:30pm until 2:45pm. Payment can be made by credit/debit card or cash. If you have yet to purchase your membership the membership stall (situated next to the mega cabin) will also be open prior to kick off. Membership prices are £10 adults and £3 under 16s.

The reds started the game slowly and were a goal down after seven minutes when a defensive mistake allowed the ever dangerous Ossett striker Andy Lee to run on goal and coolly lift the ball over Sam Ashton. Things could have been worse for the away side but Ashton was quick to pull off a good save from a header from Hollindrake. In between these chances, Deegan was only inches from tapping in a Marsh cross but in all honesty FC struggled to get their passing going in the blustery wind and it took till the 43rd minute before they had their next chance, which Adam Carden fired over, albeit from a tight angle. Hollindrake, the Ossett no 10, was a constant menace to the FC defence and he had another great chance to score just before half time, but his shot was straight at the keeper.
During the break, the FC players and staff came out of the dressing room early and this seemed to work as they started the 2nd half in the ascendancy. The dangerous Deegan put a header straight at the keeper and put another one on the roof of the net as the Reds took control of the half. It came as no surprise when Deegan headed FC level on 58 minutes from a superb cross from Carlos Roca. The home side weren’t happy as they felt that Deegan was offside, but the officials were unmoved. Though the game could have changed only two minutes later when an innocuous looking cross was fumbled onto his own post by Ashton.
The away team were having the majority of possession, but the final ball seemed to be missing though Deegan did go close with a shot, as did Rob Nugent. At the other end, a mistake in the FC defence almost let Ossett take the lead, but to the relief of the travelling support, Ashton made the save. Just when it looked like both teams would have to settle for a point each, FC managed to win a corner on the left. The home keeper did well to tip the ball over the bar, as it looked like it would sneak under the crossbar. From the resultant corner the ball was flicked into the box where man of the match Chadwick was waiting to fire the ball into the net for the winning goal.
All in all, it was a generally scrappy performance from FC, but the three points propelled the Red to 5th in the league and was certainly a boost with the trip to top of the table Kendal looming large on Saturday.

now you say you are from Droyslden which is not in Manchester like your beloved citeh whose roots also began outside the boundaries of the city of Manchester,so maybe you feel like a usurper with a moral guilt of wondering if you really belong there at all.
P.S. city are the true upstarts according to its true definition.
