FC UNITED have laughed off a claim by Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore that it is more expensive to watch them than Bolton.
Scudamore made the bizarre claims in a radio interview on Wednesday night.
When asked about the Premier League clubs’ responsibility to fans during the current recession’ Scudamore claimed that Premier League clubs are hurting too.
Scudamore backed up his claims by referring to discussions he had been involved in that day at the Professional Game board at the FA and cited Bolton as a team that charges less than Unibond premier division outfit FC.
"They are charging for adults and children for matches less than it is costing to go to FC United in the non-league," Scudamore said.
FC United, who have just launched an unprecedented campaign for next season’s season tickets where they are asking supporters to name their own price, were amazed by the claims:
‘We found his comments quite amusing. It costs less than ten pounds for an adult and child to attend together at FC United. I don’t know a Premier League cub where prices come anywhere close’ said Rebels spokesman Jules Spencer.
"Maybe our campaign for fans to name their own season ticket price has struck a nerve. We are making football affordable for ordinary football supporters.
"Many of us can no longer afford to go to Premier League games with our families but we can afford to go and watch FC United where the quality of entertainment on offer in non-league football is real value for money.
"It’s nice to see that we are still on the radar of the powers-that-be. We must be doing something right."

Scudamore and the Professional Game board....
Funny how a bunch of accountants can seem to add up.
Both teams play kick and rush "football" anyway!
Even Scudamore has spoken the truth and seen through the Myth that is FC Utd, and he's not the brightest is he? so if he can spot it, so should everybody else.
Good to see Richard Scudamore's best mate David Gill keeping him up to date with Fc's progress and innovation.
Ha, ha, ha, ha. Another one who's never been and doesn't know the facts.
Shows how much FC must be getting under everyone's skin.
and what do you know about it Dukinfield Blue? Absolutely nothing, as per your usual ramblings.
Dukinfield Blue, I suggest that you're not the brightest pal. The myth of FC United? They exist you idiot. Scudamore is hopeless for football, but that's the way the middle class work.
First, let me say congratulations to Bolton Wanderers for having reduced their prices and making Premiership football a little more affordable - that must be applauded.
Second, that Mr Scudamore is obviously not well informed about FC United, who are offering excellent value for money and have really responded to the needs of their owners - their fans. I find it amazing that Mr Scudamore sees fit to attack FC United in this way - shame on you. Do you think that FC United pose some sort of threat? Hardly. They are the real grass roots of football. Whether they ever become really big, remains to be seen, but they deserve to succeed. Moreover clubs like AFC Wimbledon have already demonstrated what can be achieved, despite powerful vested interests and prejudice.
Holy cow, bitter blue reckons Scudamore isn't the brightest. Amazing thing is, you spout nonsense for every Fc United related story so what would that class you as?
On many occasions,I have took my 2 kids and myself to watch F.C at Gigg lane.We all had an enjoyable day out (the kids loved the family atmosphere)admitted, the football isnt that great, but i still left with the feeling of an exciting Saturday, all for the measley sum of £16.
I suppose the reason why duckinfield blue and stalyvegas is negative is they regret they never feel theyve had an enjoyable day soaked in atmosphere......my sympathies go out to you both.
i pay good money to watch ronaldo and co at old trafford yes united should drop tickets prices but i want to see the best football games so i pay the asking price i would rather do that then pay less to watch fc united who sing nasty songs about mr glazier who as add a stroke i think that they are sad they are jealous .mr glazier as made manchester united stronger so if you like singing songs about people who are iLL then join the fc scum and wates away by watching a bunch of glory hunters who dont have there own ground fc united give manchester a bad name
facts, rules and laws are for breaking, so add in something like United and see scudamore put his foot in the door and make a mess of it.
Are we witnessing the beginnings of a paradigm shift? More and more premiership fans becoming disillusioned at the way prem clubs milk their 'consumers' for everything they can get and disenfrancising them in the process. FC United have to be applauded for their committment to an affordable (and exciting) football experience - especially with their innovative approach to season ticketing that allows individual fans to decide for themselves how much to pay. Scudamore is obviously very rattled otherwise he wouldn't have attempted to defend premiership prices by making such a crass comment. We've seen the bankers for what they are, then came the MP's Expenses scandal - it's only a matter of time before the football fat cats are exposed for what they are.
To mufc @ belle vue aces forever:
Really? Are you really in a position to call FC United supporters "glory hunters"? Isn't your defence of Malcolm Glazer the evidence I need to apply that label to you?
Glazer may have strengthened Man United, yet I don't feel envious of their success one bit; I do not envy success built on the foundation of profit first and supporters second. Anyone can do that, so long as they have the money. But success with supporters being the top priority--I truly envy that.
And I believe that with this comment, we can reasonably classify Scudamore as a person who doesn't know what he's talking about.
I never heard the interview but it would be interesting to know if he was prompted by the interviewer to mention us. If he wasn't, why are FC United on his radar unless we have somehow got under his skin? If that's the case then this is absolutely brilliant stuff. Unfortunately it's people like him who think football is the same sort of business as, say, Ford and that it can be exported and exploited to make more money for the gravy train he's part of....the 39th game for example just to mention one of his crackpot schemes to milk more cash. mufc@belle vue aces forever, good luck to you son, i hope your season ticket never goes over the cost you're able to pay for it. I'm sure the nice man Mr Glazer will take note of your sentiments and guarantee you'll always be ok on that score. Strange though, he never listened to me when i queried this back in 2005 hence the 45% increase on it's price in 4 years...of which a richer person than me now pays.
jacobsbladdder , sorry to burst your bubble but premiership is stronger and richer than ever, see champions league finalists last few years etc, premiership never been stronger, even in a credit crunch, who wants to watch the aveage football at fc united, its just a way for dads to take heir kids out without spending much money and pretend to their kids they are taking them to a football game, you would be better going to one off the estbalished non league teams that need your support like alty rather than support a club based upon hate jealousy envy and spite
Bitters shut it for starters, im a utd red but for this vile man to attack fc united of manchester and quote that its cheaper to watch bolton is pure gibberish how much is a seat at bolton and how much does it cost to take the family like i know many have taken and had a good time ???????? mr scudamore you was not very good at maths at school was you whats thejob you provide at the fa is it the dinner lady, shes more important than you.
Now scudamore check both prices consisting of a family of four then apologise to fc united of manchester and pray tell how silly you have been.
If all us with brains can do the math then i suggest you take a gcse corse at learn direct im sure the fa will cover the fee's.
Now play nicely.
Ok we had the bitter ex-utd fans protesting at the glaziers buying the club on a very wet night 2 to 3 hundred turned up well chuffing done now how silly do you look but every team needs to start some where.
IM A MASSIVE CITY FAN CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHEN WE ARE GOING TO WIN SOMTHING.
@ MBLUED, UK Burst my bubble? No danger of that, my bubble remains robust and intact - i fail to see how your massive demonstration of ignorance even begins to assault anything I said. Listen, take a tip - come back when you've done your homework an you know what you're talking about.
Come on then, Ball and Bat, enlighten us.
Why exactly do the Glazer protesters now look silly?
And you were doing so well with your rant at Scudamore!
I seem to recall marching before an Milan game (Feb 2005) against the Glazer's take-over. Might sound cityesque but there were well over 15K on that march. I'm just pointing out that people have very short memories.
I noticed that one of the leaders behind the protests has now turned Gamekeeper and is taking the Glazer Shilling, no prizes but was that not his sister on the first Britains got Talent Sue B......
MBLUED UK. Truly spoken like a man who needs to remove ones head from his bottom. Presumably you're all for a 39th game abroad and ever more expensive tickets then in the PL? Just some of the things we are against at FC United unlike Mr Scudamore. By your rationale a bigger and stronger top flight should be created at the expense of the fans then? Also you go and contradict yourself by saying we take our children to watch average football pretending it's the real thing...yet in the same sentence you advise we should take them to Altrincham or other non-league clubs? Eh? Why when we get 2500 making a lot of noise at Gigg lane in a family friendly atmosphere? You make it out like it's seething cauldron of hate. I would imagine you've never been to an FC match and if you haven't you can't be in a position to comment on the standard of football we play.
