THE Rebels lost winger Jerome Wright to a red card, and manager Karl Marginson, banished to the stand, in a stormy finish to their UniBond League premier division clash at Gigg Lane.
Wright was dismissed after a scuffle with a Buxton player, and the FC bench reacted angrily, leading to Marginson's dismissal by the ref.
Buxton had been worth their half time lead after going ahead on seven minutes through Mark Reed, with the poor defending which has haunted FC's season returning to plague them again.
Sam Ashton had to be alert to prevent a second goal from the Derbyshire side, who provided the Rebels with their first win at this level back in August.
A half time rocket from Marginson did the trick, and six minutes into the second half big defender Adam Tong scored his first goal for the club to level things up.
With the 2,158 crowd getting behind the team, Simon Carden then had an effort cleared off the line, but Buxton held on for a draw.

I thought it was a fair result.
Marginison seems to be feeling the pressure
Don't think so, Terry. I reckon Margy has proved since the birth of FC that he can handle the pressure. We have been having a bit of a raw deal from referees recently - even in games we have won - but I think the fiasco over Jerome Wright's sending off probably was the last straw. Check out the post-match interviews with both Margy and Jerome himself, which are available on FCUM TV. If what they say is correct, then even a saint would struggle to keep control. I don't think the awful performance from the ref at Kendal in the previous game helped. Our players were kicked repeatedly in the second half with Man of the Match Dave Neville being a constant target, eventually resulting in him sustaining a broken ankle. The ref did nothing except to yellow-card the offender and the awful tackles continued. I do wonder if some of these referees at our level are so concerned not to be seen as being influenced by our support (which dwarfs that of any opposition home or away) that they end up giving us nothing. I agree with Drifter that in terms of the Buxton game, a draw was fair enough, but I do worry about these refs. Some of them seem to think we have all come to see them, rather than the actual match. The best referee is, in my view, the one you never notice.
Thanks John, I used to drink around Ladybarn in my student days, it was a vibrant area with a wealth of characters and excellent pubs. Quick question will FC get promoted this season and if they don't will this effect the growth of the club?
I think for the club to grow we need to move closer to Central Manchester as soon as possible but unfortunately there are only a limited number of suitable venues and none of them that central. The sooner we have our own ground the better.
"There be goals in them there hills!

Were FC not close to securing a site for the development of a purpose built ground close to the city? I heard Clayton was mentioned.
Why don't FC United play at Hough End with all the other pub teams?
In answer to Terry, no, I don't think we'll go up this year, but then I do reckon that we WILL do so next year. There have been many changes to the playing personnel this year and some do take time to settle, but having beaten all the top teams apart from Eastwood, I'm sure we can win this league next time round. I don't think staying in the Unibond will harm our attendances at all. Our hard core of around 2,000 + (1,000 on away trips) aren't going anywhere, and there is a lot of work going on to boost these figures. I know, I'm involved. An announcement re the new ground is not far away, (trust me)and that will certainly enable us to attract more fans.
I see that balloon Vegas Blue is back on with his usual beautifully crafted comments. (NOT) Have you ever seen a pub team whose record attendance is 6,023, you plank ? Thought not. Get back to tending the camels at the Bitterdome. Oh, and by the way, HAPPY 33RD ANNIVERSARY !!!
Amazing to think that the last time you won 'owt, Elvis was still alive !
Two thoughts:
1. If Wilson isn't firing, FC will be really short of options on attack. Considering that the FC defence has conceded 49 goals already this year, this is not a good thought for the games against Frickley or Matlock.
2. FC need more than a ground; they also need a message (a St. Pauli-like message, in my opinion) that can win more hard core support.
Ahhhh. This thing finally ended Christmas 2008. Just like I said!
With the real club winning, attendance is WAY WAY down at Fake Club United. To attract better players, why doesn't Andy Walsh agree to a part-time salary like every other General Manager at this non-league level??? The pied piper did do a great job of clearing out the rats though, so kudos for that. What exactly are the Fake Club United fans "rebelling" against now?? Winning trophies??? I would think if they were for "rebelling" against winning trophies, they would have just become City Fans instead of making up a poor imitation of MUFC and having Andy play make-believe GM in a horrible charade.
For FC United to ensure long-term survival, the link with Man Utd has to be severed. There will be no life for this club if they insist on being connected with their neighbours.
Thus the only way out is a new message, one of rebellion against the commercialisation of football in general, not simply squabbles against the Scousers or the City fans. If there is a supporter-owned club, they should be supported by FC fans, no matter who they are.
