Having seen off Exeter in the first round, Jones and his UniBond First Division North side are now chasing a potential third round glamour tie when the Premier League big guns join the hat.
Each day this week Jones - a prevention officer with Tameside's Youth Offending Team by day - will be writing a diary of his and Curzon's preparations as they go in search of glory.
Saturday, November 24
UP bright and early this morning, as usual on Saturday's. Put my marigolds on and cleaned my apartment in Ashton town centre from top to bottom.
It's therapeutic and takes my mind off that afternoon's game.
We were at home to Bamber Bridge who are a good team going well.
Arrived at the ground at 1.30pm and stuck my bag in the changing room.
The weather was freezing and looks like the recent rain had done some damage to the pitch.
Match finished with us losing 1-0, very disappointing with at least half the team under par.
I was again pleased with my own performance, but that probably made it more frustrating for me seeing some of the other lads not perform to their usual high standard.
The gaffer was away watching Kidderminster Harriers so we let Derek Hall (assistant manager) down big time.
Was not in a good mood tonight as Man United also failed to win, so X-Factor and a bag of wine gums was as exciting as it got for me.
Went to bed at about 11.30pm and got up at 3am to watch Ricky Hatton teach that funny looking American a lesson in boxing.
He looks nearly back to his best, but his opponent was poor.
Sunday, November 25
HAD a bit of a lie-in this morning as my sleep was interrupted by the Hatton victory, so rose and showered about mid-morning.
Watched a bit of television to get up to date with the football news and then went for a light jog around the block as my legs were a bit sore.
Had no plans for the day so got a couple of mates round who had hangovers and we just chilled watching Spurs v Blackburn laughing about the night before.
Sunday is my day of rest so the night was spent watching "I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here!". How annoying is that Timmy Mallet bloke?
But it's worth listening to him when you have Dani Behr half-naked sat next to him.
Monday, November 26
Alarm went off at 7am, I felt knackered so it went on snooze a couple of times and I finally dragged myself out of bed at about 7.15am.
We have training tonight so my training kit went in the wash. You get fined if you have no training kit.
Norts (Michael Norton) gets fined every week - he should also get further fined for the gear he wears instead.
He looks like he has raided the lost property bin at a primary school. Really bad clobber!
Get into work and have a chat with a colleague who coincidentally was the assistant referee for Kidderminster Harriers' previous game in the FA Cup against Cambridge City.
He has also refereed us this season and believes we have a real chance.
I'm a Prevention Officer at Tameside Youth Offending Team so after my morning hellos to other staff I was out of the office and into schools doing some sessions with children and young people who have been identified as being at risk of entering the Criminal Justice System.
I enjoy my job, it can be hard at times, but most of the time is very rewarding.
Continued tomorrow
