The club has already seen star players Rory Patterson, Stuart Rudd and Josh Howard leave after helping to secure a third successive promotion for the Rebels.
But the club's general manager Walsh says that, although the playing budget has been increased for next season to reflect the move up to a higher level, there will be no crazy money paid out.
Patterson, who topped the UniBond First Division scoring charts last season, has reluctantly left after his £150-a-week deal at FC was trebled by big-spending rivals Bradford Park Avenue, who also play at Premier Division level next season after pipping the Rebels to the title.
Park Avenue have been backed by wealthy property developer Bob Blackburn, who has ambitions to guide the club back into the Football League and also snapped up Rudd after he was released.
FC have bounced back by signing pacy forwards Carlos Roca and Kyle Wilson, and also securing key midfielders Chris Baguley and Jerome Wright, and left back Bradley Howard.
Principles
Walsh says they will stick to their founding principles and not get involved in auctions for players.
"It's difficult to get across to people who look at our crowd figures of 2,000-2,500 and think we must be rolling in it," he said. "But the overheads that come with ground-sharing a stadium the size of Gigg Lane mean that every year is a struggle.
"It is a credit to our manager Karl Marginson and his players that we have achieved three successive promotions - we have definitely been punching above our weight.
"The playing budget has increased, but we will still be paying less than most clubs in our division."
Club members will vote next month on ticket prices for next season, but Walsh says that whatever the decision, the club will continue to cut its cloth accordingly.
He said: "It is a struggle, but that probably applies to every football club in the country apart from the top two or three. We believe that if something is worth fighting for, people will make the commitment, and the commitment of our supporters has been brilliant."
The key to the club moving forward is to build their own £5m community stadium, and eight sites have been identified in Manchester and Salford. Supporters raised £100,000 last season towards a stadium development fund, and have pledged another £40,000-a-year through standing orders.
But the club is also seeking funding from government and community bodies, and plans to build a stadium which will be of benefit to the entire community in which it is based.
It is hoped that it the stadium will incorporate all-weather pitches for use by local players, and a community room which will host events such as music gigs, comedy nights and bingo.

Maybe FC could do some deal to play there with a other non-league club or Sale Sharks too perhaps. Stick a speedway / stock car track around the outside... who knows?
It'd beat the current idea of another Opera house.

FC United's pre-season training is taking place at Burnage Rugby Club off Didsbury Road in Heaton Mersey where supporters are invited to meet up with the players and watch as the coaching staff put the players through their paces in preparation for the new season. Burnage Rugby Club provides an ideal base for our pre-season training, as well as training pitches the site provides access to a variety of training runs through the surrounding area. The facilities include a 9-hole golf course and a clubhouse which is open to FC supporters. The rugby club have made us very welcome and we will be looking to build the relationship further as the club develops an artificial playing surface. The Open Day is FREE admission, refreshments will be available and the clubhouse will be open, so bring along the whole family and your autograph book. Meet the players, the manager, the coaching staff and the new signings. Have your photo taken with the players and the trophies either with your own camera or by one of our club photographers who will be on hand.
You can try to win one of the football competitions; hit the cross bar, ball juggling or if you fancy yourself as a bit of a Johnny Wilkinson, why not try your hand (or foot) in the rugby kick competition. Plus there will be the opportunity to pre order the new blue kit plus membership and season ticket stall. A-Line boots will also be in attendance, offering a range of football boots at exclusive prices with every sale generating funds for FC.

Directions: By Car: TRAVELLING FROM THE EAST ON M62: At junction 18 of the M62 the motorway changes its name to the M60. After passing Birch Service Station get into the inside lane. Follow the sign which reads M60 (East and South), Manchester and Airport. Follow the left filter lane to join the M60 motorway travelling in a clockwise direction. Continue to follow signs for Manchester Airport and at junction 3 of the M60 get into the inside two lanes and leave the M60 to join the M56. At junction 2 of the M56 do not follow the Altrincham sign but remain on the M56 following signs for the Airport. Do not leave the M56 at Manchester Airport but continue until junction 6. Leave the M56 at junction 6 signposted A538 Wilmslow, Hale, Macclesfield. At the end of the slip road turn left at the traffic lights signposted Hale, Altrincham A538. Go straight across at the next roundabout. After approximately 2 miles approach a set of traffic lights – carry straight on and take the third turning on the right into Westminster Road. Carry straight on for approximately 3/4 mile into Moss Lane, the football ground is on the right.
TRAVELLING FROM THE NORTH ON M6: Leave M6 motorway at junction 20 to join M56. Leave M56 at junction 7 and at roundabout take A56 for Altrincham. At first traffic lights (1 mile) turn right for Bowdon/Hale (B5161). Carry on for 1 mile, passing The Quality Hotel on the right. Go through the traffic lights, then right at the mini roundabout into Hale Road (avoiding town centre). Carry on for approximately 1 mile, turning left into Westminster Road (opposite cemetry entrance). Carry straight on for approximately 3/4 mile into Moss Lane, the football ground is on the right.
TRAVELLING FROM THE WEST ON M62: Leave the M62 at Junction 10 and join the M6 travelling in a southerly direction. Then follow the directions as from the North as above.
TRAVELLING FROM THE SOUTH ON M6: Leave M6 motorway at junction 19 (Manchester and Airport sign). Join A556 and follow Airport signs to M56. Do NOT take the M56 but carry straight on at roundabout on A56. Carry straight on for
approximately 3/4 mile into Moss Lane, the football ground is on the right.
On Foot: From the front of Altrincham Interchange (for buses, trains and Metrolink trams), which lies behind the clock tower (pictured right), Moss Lane is the first turning on the left. Since 3 November 2002 Moss Lane has been made one-way at the town centre end so there is now no vehicle access from the A538 main road (Railway Street/Stamford New Road) which runs through Altrincham. Vehicles must either follow the road route above or carry on southwards past Moss Lane a quarter of a mile, passing Altrincham Post Office (on right), and then turn left at the next set of proper traffic lights into Lloyd Street. After crossing the railway bridge, with Tesco on the left, turn first left (Manor Road) and proceed to the second set of two very closely sited traffic lights, where you turn right into Moss Lane. The ground is half a mile away on left, in front of a tall communications pylon, which can be seen from some distance away.
Pedestrians can still turn up Moss Lane from the town centre (A538) and go over the railway bridge, after which there is a large Tesco on the right. Go straight on at cross roads and the ground is half a mile along Moss Lane on the left.
Buses: 16 / 41 / 263 / 264 run from Manchester Piccadilly bus station to Altrincham Interchange, (immediately outside the Metrolink station).
Metrolink: The metrolink line to Altrincham should be back running from 28th August. You need to check this service before they travel.
