Rebels clash off

FC United's clash with Chorley has been called off because of a frozen pitch.

The Rebels were looking to kick on after Saturday's superb 3-0 victory over UniBond First Division North leaders Skelmersdale but have been frustrated by the weather again.

After that win Marginson, whose side have three games in hand in the league over new front-runners Bamber Bridge, said: "Hopefully, the Skelmersdale result sends out a message," he said. "But we would also like to keep things understated."

The biggest threat to United's third successive title is a fixture backlog caused by postponements.

That was added to when Monday's Presidents Cup clash with Nantwich was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Do you think FC will win the title? Have your say.

We will end up playing two games a day the way things are going. Hopefully the league will see sense and extend the season.
On our day we can beat anyone in this league but there are no easy games so it will be a bit of a tall order to win the league with a fixture pile up but we live in hope.

I cannot believe this it is all becoming too much. When you think about how much money United fans have ploughed into Bury they should have under soil heating by now. Skelmersdale won last night so they have taken the lead again leaving us behind wit six games in hand. Looking at the fixtures list we will now have to play every Saturday and Wednesday until April to pull this lot back and that does not include cup games. We play Nantwich away on Monday IF the pitch is fixed. Still at least I get to watch the United game tonight down the local tonight. Up the Reds.

Next up, - subject to there being a waterlogged pitch, frozen pitch, manhole covers being flooded and having road cones round them, Manchester Road flooding generally, some other spurious act of God or Iain Mills calling the game off because he can "so ner, ner, ner-ner, ner" - BAMBER BRIDGE FC v FC UNITED, Saturday 23rd February 2008, k.o. 3.00pm. This game is to be played at Bamber Bridge's Irongate Ground, Brownedge Road, Bamber Bridge, Preston, Lancashire, PR5 6UX

As the weather has managed to disrupt Bamber Bridge's plans to visit FC United of Manchester to sell tickets in advance, Saturday's match will now have 4 cash turnstiles to get all spectators into the ground at Irongate. In order to help us get all supporters into the ground we would appreciate it if you could arrive in good time to get in prior to the 3pm kick off, it would also help us to speed things up if supporters had the right change available to pay. Stewards will be on hand to direct you to the most appropriate turnstile. Prices are: £7 Adult, £4 Concession, £10 for an adult and child admission.

Turnstiles at the ground open at 12.30pm, along with the Clubhouse and bar facilities - access to which is only possible once inside the ground. Bamber Bridge are trying to make arrangements to once again have a 'back bar' in our back room (which is currently being refurbished). This bar will sell draft lager and bitter and may be a quicker option for refreshment.

The Woodyard End of the ground will be allocated to supporters of FC United of Manchester and the Clubhouse End to home supporters although all facilities will be open to both sets of supporters and there is no strict segregation. The stand will be partially segregated on police advice, the Clubhouse End for Bamber Bridge Supporters, and the Woodyard End for FC United supporters.

Parking: The car park at Irongate will be closed to general admission for the match, however limited availability is available for Blue Badge Holders, please contact Stuart Wilkinson on 07974 260012, or via stuwilky@gmail.com

The roads immediately adjacent to the ground will have parking restrictions for this match. Some space is available at Brownedge St Mary's church, located 5 mins walk from the ground, where a small charge will be made and will go to church funds.

Trains: Outgoing - Manchester Piccadilly to Preston: 9:11 10:11 11:11 12:11. Preston to Bamber Bridge: 10:31 11:31 12:31 13:31. Return - Bamber Bridge to Preston: 17:56 18:56 19:58. Preston to Manchester Piccadilly: 18:38 20:11 20:32.

Lets hope this trip to Bamber doesn't turn out to be another Bridge to far.

Come on guys ! We just have to accept that as a fan of l'il siddy Kiwi is an acknowledged expert on tinpot teams. Now silverware of course is something completely different. The only thing silver that siddy have seen in the last 32 years is that appalling silver kit they brought out - ironically coinciding with their having at that time gone 25 years without a trophy. As I always say, if they didn't exist you could not make them up. People would say "Nah - too far - fetched."
