The Rebels believe landlords Bury breached the ground-share agreement between the two clubs.
But Shakers director Iain Mills defended the League Two side's decision to call off the fixture.
FC United officials attempted to move the Division One North clash to Woodley.
But this proved impossible because of lack of time.
The non leaguers issued a statement last night that said: "The referee declared the pitch fit to play and the match was due to go ahead as scheduled.
"However, a director of Bury FC unilaterally took the decision that he would call off the game.
"FC United believe this to be a breach of our ground-share agreement and we will be seeking further advice.
"A minute's silence for the 23 people who perished in the Munich tragedy had been planned."
The club was also denied an opportunity to collect their Unibond club-of-the-month award for their four straight wins in January.
Board member Jules Spencer told M.E.N. Sport: "It was annoying enough that a Bury director took a unilateral decision to postpone the game after the pitch had been passed fit.
"But it was exacerbated by the fact that it was February 6 and supporters had been looking forward to paying their own tributes.
"We know Bury's games take precedent and Tuesday night's match had been re-scheduled.
"But we'd been given assurances the club could turn things round within 24 hours and get the ground ready.
"We have a good relationship with the majority of Bury officials who have been helpful to us in the past. But we feel this could have been avoided."
Bury director Mills insisted the decision was taken for the benefit of both clubs.
Mills said: "It was unrealistic to play three games in five days on the pitch at this time of year.
"At the end of the day, we are the landlords and that gives us the right to cancel games.
"It was taken in the best interests of Bury Football Club and, hopefully, in the best interests of FC United. We have good relations with FC United and I sincerely hope this hasn't soured them."

because they planned to spend the evening with fellow Reds at Gigg Lane remembering the Babes with the full minute's silence followed by 90 minutes of singing! Shame on you Bury & the sooner we get our own ground, the better.

Once the ref passed the pitch as playable then that should have been the end of it.

FC have now got serious fixture congestion problems as there are only two midweek spaces unused before the end of the season before this postponement. We are still in two cup competitions which may lead to further postponements of league games. What happens if Bury decide to take this action again in the next few weeks?

If people wanted to pay a proper respect, then they would do so at Old Trafford. The Babes would be turning in their graves at the thought of this Judas FC and its betrayal on the name of Manchester United. Using a tribute in order to gain some extra gate revenue.

With the Reds out of action since the 2-1 President's Cup home victory against Rossendale United on January the 26th, this match serves as a useful fitness boost ahead of Saturday’s UniBond Division One North clash with top of the table Skelmersdale United.
A confident Karl Marginson believes his side can come out on top this weekend. He said: "They have been on a fantastic streak recently. However, we have won our last five games and with no major injury doubts I think we have every chance of adding a sixth victory and in doing so signalling our intentions of winning this league."

FC's manager Karl Marginson said: "We don't know exactly how serious it is just yet. We're due to pick him up from the hospital today and hopefully it will not be as bad as we feared. However, we've got a more than capable and very experienced deputy in Phil Priestley who we've drafted back in for the next few matches at least.".

Recent signing from Burscough, Kevin Ledbetter has been banging in the goals from the left hand side of midfield for them of late. Margy describes the 28 year old as "playing at a level below where he should be"
Centre-Forward George Donnelly has also been identified by United's boss as one to watch, but most of all Karl Marginson has been impressed with Skem's organisation and rates them as serious title rivals.
"They beat (then leaders) Curzon Ashton 2-1 recently and I thought their main strength was their organisation and workrate. They've been on a very good run recently, although they did slip up a bit when they lost 1-0 at Lancaster. I'd say that, along with Bradford Park Avenue, they are serious rivals of ours for the league title. Hopefully we can be a banana skin for their ambitions on Saturday"

Karl Marginson has sent out a rallying call that will hopefully strike fear into FCUM's title rivals as the season reaches a crunch time with several top-of-the-table matches in quick succession. Ahead of the visit this Saturday of league leaders Skelmersdale, and with matches coming up against Bamber Bridge, Curzon Ashton and Bradford Park Avenue, Margy has demanded that the team maintain its run that has seen United win the last five matches in a row.
We've just had five wins on the bounce, up to and including the Rossendale Cup match, and we're looking to make it six on Saturday against a very good Skem side." Said the Red's boss. "Despite the postponements and problems with the weather of late, we're looking to create the momentum that will carry us through until the end of the season. We're going to have to play two and sometimes three games a week right through until the end of the campaign and we're hoping to use that to our advantage. At this stage it is all about building up a winning run: winning becomes a good habit. Despite the loss of FC United goalkeeper Sam Ashton, rushed to hospital with a dislocated finger, Karl is delighted to be welcoming back another two key players for the title run-in; Dave Chadwick and Stuart Rudd. Kick off is 3pm. Entry is pay on the gate and costs £7.50 adults, £5 concessions and £2 for under 18s
