RETURNING FC United striker Stuart Rudd was sent-off as his side's poor start to the season continued with defeat at the hands of Garforth Town.

The Reds hit the bar and had a goal disallowed for off-side in the final minute but the visitors hung on for victory in front of 2,216 fans at Gigg Lane.

Before his sending off, following an innocuous-looking incident, Rudd had already headed wide just after half-time and then fired past the post soon afterwards.

But as the rebel Reds pressed forward in search of an opening goal, the visitors suddenly broke away and midfielder Chris Kamara netted from close-range to the delight of the 60 strong travelling army.

FC United substitute Chris Bagguley fired a 30 yard free-kick just wide as the Reds went in search of an equaliser and Rob Nugent then hit the bar with a header before Simon Carden's strike was ruled out in the last minute.

However, despite that pressure the visitors held on and the result leaves FC pointless after two games.

Garforth seem to be a well organised out fit, as will most teams in this league will be i guess. The loss of Rudd and Patterson to suspension/injuries could spell a tough start to life in this league.

i must say that even though we were beaten and the ref made numerous gaffs it felt good to have been in a competetive match for a change. Over the last two years too many games have been over by the 30 min mark. i want to see FC win and get promoted and contiune the march onwards but i also want to be entertained by both teams (if that makes sence).
Its time to dig deep lads and battle hard but lets keep playin good football to boot and we (MRE) will support you win lose or draw.

Not too concerned about the result but I think our lads need to be more physical in the way they play if they are to hold their own in this division. The foul on Rory was outrageous so if Garforth Town are anything to go by it would seem sticking the boot in comes with the territory. I just hope the roomers of him having a broken foot are just that. Lets see if we can get a better result against Bridlington at home on Saturday but above all else get to play against a team who play football without using bone breaking tactics or at least have a Ref with the bottle to sort it out. Viva la revolution, come on FC.

This was the last thing we need with Rory being suspended. I think we are going to struggle this season to be honest, this is a small division and we havent made it easy for ourselves with 2 defeats out of 2. Margi needs to dig deep as the FC bandwagon needs it wheels to keep on turning

Two first team league wins in three days and Fceee are well and truly off the mark. The 6-0 home demolition of Bridlington Town on Saturday set us up nicely for the harder earned 1-2 away win v. Rossendale yesterday. We also won the cancer research charity friendly against Poynton FC on Sunday followed by a screening of United getting the first win of the season in glorious Technicolour. With FC United reserves also getting a 1-2 away win against Warrington Town reserves it was all in all a great bank holiday weekend. Viva la revolution, come on FC.
