But the Rebels have yet to shake off the threat of FA Vase semi-finalists Curzon Ashton.
Simon Carden's ninth minute strike was followed by two goals apiece from Stuart Rudd and Josh Howard as the Rebel Reds eased to a 5-1 victory which keeps them three points clear of Salford City, who had Jamie Baguley on target in a 1-0 win over Formby.
Steve Lester netted Abbey Hey's single reply.
But with Salford having four games more to play than Karl Marginson's men, it's fourth-placed Curzon who pose the only serious threat to FC United claiming their second successive title.
Wayne Cahill's hat-trick helped the Nash come from behind to crush rock- bottom Stone 4-1.
That win certainly keeps them in a strong position to pounce should FC United slip up in the run-in to the season.
Meanwhile, Curzon tonight warm up for Saturday's big Vase showdown with Truro City.
They will stage the first-leg of their League Challenge Cup semi-final against Flixton at Tameside Stadium. The game will kick-off at 7.45pm. Tweet

Waggon & Horses 5, Prince of Wales 1!
Now I know the pubs where 'shanny' watched city win game. They're gonna beat United next like once upon a time, they're gonna conquer Europe like they did in 69 ? yawn! Looks like FC won't be the only club changing division this season. FC for step 4 and city for the Championship. The way we are going and the way city are going I reckon we'll meet in five years. As for the match the tinkers passage end was rockin' again. Their keeper lost the plot in the second half. He had a proper paddy tantin like a big kid. GM tomorrow night at the Methodist Hall, Old street, Manchester city centre. Starts at 7.00pm so members should be in by 6.30pm to ensure a prompt start.
Shanny, what have you got against pub teams? We need to give credit to anybody who plays football (or any sport) at whatever level. Even City!
Dash Walny, I see the only evidence you can quote of Glazer and his many relatives contributing something this season (couple of stories back ) is the AIG deal. This, apparently, is the result of Joel "calling in some favours". And there was simple me thinking that this was about AIG hoping to use the name of Manchester United to make money!
Walny (again), it's only somebody who doesn't know anything about the NW Counties League that can't appreciate that, yes, a 2-2 away draw against Congleton in the first leg of a cup-tie is a good result. And the lack of comments on this website I think is probably more to do with the difficulty of getting registered than Free Red wanting a site all to himself. All power to Free Red! He regularly wipes the floor with you and your arguments anyway!
Tony Nuttall, Barnsley. I think Shanny, Hyde was saying he drank five pints in the Waggon & Horses in the first half and one in the Prince of Wales for the second. I reckon watching city going down has turned him to drink.
Love the name of the new sponsers, brilliant stuff.

TonyNuttall, (That must be your real name). My point is that the Glazers do so so many things to provide the "business" side of the club, but get no publicity for it because the family is so reclusive and does not give interviews of any kind, to anyone. Have you heard from a Glazer since the MUTV interview with Joel??? Look at the Buccaneers accross the atlantic, have they done any interview about the Buccaneers in 5 years?? Basically what is good for business is winning and as long as the Glazers are in charge United will be winners. I know your retort will be "What about the Bucs?? They were terrible last year!!" Well the NFL is a different animal than the PL. Teams all have the same teamwide wage cap to work from, so it is not the top 4 teams every year competing for the title, but with the Glazers' keen business management the Bucs "are in a position" to win every year. Some years (like 2003 and 2005) they do, and some years things don't go their way. But with no wage cap, I don't expect Man United to every fall below 3rd in the league table in ANY year that the Glazers are running the show. Some years (like this year) they will win the league. Some other years Chelsea will win. Some other years Arsenal/LPool will pull an upset. Can you be so arrogant to complain if your club ONLY wins the league EVERY THIRD year??
Curzon as predicted by me are looking good for the championship and cup double.
Ha, so, walnut dashboard, United were useless before the Glazers came along? MU are where they are despite the Glazers, not because of them. The difference being, the dubious honour of being owned by the Glazers means a debt free club is now 660 million (or more) in debt with nothing to show for it - no new ground, no prospective new ground, no array of galacticos to parade. Whatever MU achieve this season, which is still not over, the previous structure would have done , without the huge hikes in various costs to fans, redundancies, loans out of young players etc etc. Nobody wants the glazers, except lackeys like you, who I can only imagine are on the glazer payroll. Anyway, not our problem, forza FCUoM
For a pole you appear to be very well educated on the NFL Mr Walny (or whatever), But you do not tell the whole truth (surprise?), has the NFL never had dynasties, do teams not buy and sell players as is the way in proper football? Yes there is a wage cap but if you believe that makes the superbowl a lottery then maybe you are a pole, either that or very miseducated in sports management. If any sport is won or lost on business dealings then we may as well all give up and go and play Monopoly - sports are decided by 3 things, luck, skill and good coaching - none of which the Tampa boys have provided for the Bucs and United already had 2 of those 3 before they messed our club up.
I rarely let you muppets get to me but every now and again you provide a target so huge even a city striker could hit it.
Malc Tampa. If Curzon had played and won all their games in hand we would still be five point clear, but you're right it will be close. I have heard their Norton wants to play for FC United in the Unibond next year. Remember you read that hear first. In the mean time Formby 1 - 3 FC United.
Manc in New Jersey - The 49ers, Cowboys, Steeler, etc. dynasties all occurred BEFORE THE WAGE CAP WAS INTRODUCED!! Which only proves my point. The New England Club is the only one to maintain was could be termed a sustained success since the cap. Every club in the NFL has a chance to succeed, every single year.
