The 19-year-old Portuguese winger was caught just above his right knee in a hefty challenge from Nuno Valente, minutes after coming on as a substitute against Porto on Tuesday.
But the club's official website revealed that a scan showed no break or serious damage.
The 19-year-old remains a doubt for Sunday's derby at Manchester City, but news of no long-term damage eases an ever-increasing list of casualties at Old Trafford including Mikael Silvestre, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Quinton Fortune.

Excellent news. Maybe he can come on and torment the Bitters at least for a while.
Good news stand up if you hate the Blues!
no great loss to be without the showboating one trick pony. Alex, buy him a set of boots with studs in or ship him out in the summer, big waste of space.
Let the lad start the match! He'll make the blues so dizzy that they can't locate RvN and Saha, who'll hammer home at least one each.
Why should it matter whether one player is fit or not. After all, we all know that United are a MASSIVE club with a MASSIVE squad. Oh, and let's not forget their MASSIVE support which makes a MASSIVE amount of noise!
however much I hate this side of the website - I have to point out that there was obviously never anything wrong with him. He DIVED in the last few minutes in a pathetic attempt to waste a few minutes so Utd could slavage their season. Like everything else Utd have been doing recently, it failed. Now he's fit - what a surprise. Now, this is the match of the season for both of us - how pathetic is that.
really not a bad injury i never would have guessed? someone stepped on his toe and he went down like a bag of spuds holding his thigh? one word CHEAT. nice try i bet he's fit for sunday mind you thats if his big toe is better CTID

Fred!? Have you been watchint Ronaldo lately?! He is not a one trick pony, he has been great! More of a team player and far more effective. He was great in both games against Fulham, and assists in both
Anyone unbiased and who was watching the game could see that he was hacked down heavily by the Porto defender.
The referee was miles away and ruled play on when the replay clearly showed the offence was worth a yellow if not a red for how cynical a foul that it was!!!
Hope he recovers for the Derby as he'll be running rings around the hapless City defence
I did not realise How bitter these blues are you don't hear them all season and when UNITED have a bad patch and get knocked out of europe they wind us up and take the mick i wish they worry about there crap team more than ours
We'll NEVER DIE
wow sir alex...I didn't know winding you up was going to be that easy. I suppose that the end of your season must have affected you pretty badly then.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I was very sad the day my dream club lost against Porto but all the same i will say we were rubbed.Th e referee did not favour us in anyway.I thank God Ronaldo is safe and can still play.I think we need go in for another goal keeper.Howard disgrace us.He should have punch the ball to throw in or corner. And i think, its time we go in for more defenders.Where is Silvestre?I have never seen him any of our games so far.I still love the club just like the way i love my mother's breast.God bless manchester.More grease to the players and the staff elbow. We will continue to support Manchester united and prove the world that we are still the greatest in the world.....Thanks.
Dear sir,
I think we have to forget about the defeat and concentrate on the league.
