The billionaire American businessman, who owns former Super Bowl champions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, refused to rule out a bid to buy United earlier this month when he increased his stake to 16.31%.
His acquisition today of more shares will spark further speculation of a takeover battle with fellow shareholders and Irish racing tycoons John Magnier and JP McManus, but Glazer could also decide to sell his stake in the club.
Glazer's stake still leaves him some way behind the 28.8% Magnier and McManus hold through their Cubic Expression company.

I think if there is a take over i,m all for it. I am convinced it would be in the interest of United, Don,t try and say that United has been ever run with the FANS in mind not at all its always been run on a financial basis.
I welcome this move as it can only hasten the departure of our beloved manager. It would be good to have an American owner too as they tend to have the best contacts in financial circles.
if the take over can increase the financial muscle of MUFC then its ok for the club and funs ,but if its for any personal hidden agendas we say no,no
we can survive as we are
The sooner we have one owner committed to continuing and improving the squad, making us the envy of the whole world the better.
16.69 + 28.8 = 45.49.
It's almost all over boys...M+M have nearly won.
If Glazer does buy into the club, it will undoubtedly be to make money. For him to do that Utd must be successful so we MAY all benefit. I can't see anyone spending B#800 Million to "assett strip" because quite frankly it wouldn't offer a return. If the club ceased to be, what would there be to sell/strip? I think we have seen over the last few seasons that as a stand-alone entity, we have not quite got the financial clout or perhaps the guts to go that one stage further. Look at the players we have been linked with in the past (and make no mistake Sir Alex wanted them) Batistuta, Nedved, (the real) Ronaldo, Zidane, Lizarazu, Roberto Carlos, Ayala, Oliver Khan, Ronaldinho, the list goes on and on. Now we find ourselves shopping at car boot sales for the likes of Bellion etc. This is not meant as an insult to the players we have bought this summer, but why buy the likes of bellion anyway? Is he really that much better than our reserves/youth team players? Is Sir Alex trying to emulate Arsend Wenger in picking up unknowns and uncovering gems? I am not sure he is as good at it. We don't seem to have the network of spies that Arsenal have in seeking out good potential young talent. The scouting system leaves MUCH to be desired. When we do find a player we alert the world to the fact! Look at the boy Reyes, I think he will finish up being very very good. No one got a sniff till it was done and dusted. Had we approached the Ronaldo transfer in a similar manner perhaps we wouldn't have had to pay B#12 Million for his undoubted "potential". In the transfer market, we seem to have the business accumed of Nick Leeson. Perhaps this is something Glazer could sort out because at the moment something isn't right. We buy extortionately high and sell for a song. Beckham has been a virtual freebie for Madrid! I wonder how much this will have cost over the financial year in lost merchandising sales? We need to keep on our toes both on and off the pitch because the opposition is always looking to improve. Once Ashburton grove is up and running and Stamford Bridge is enlarged these clubs will represent stern and permanent competition the likes of which we have not seen for years. We need to move on, not rest on our laurels. Can ANYONE honestly see the board releasing the B#40 - B#50 million which needs to be spent on the squad during the soummer in the present set up? WE will NOT see the whole B#40 million from the sales of Beckham and Veron re-invested in playing staff and anyone who thinks otherwise should take a reality pill. I would value other fans opinions on my points.
