MANCHESTER United fans have been given permission to stage a protest against Irish tycoons John Magnier and JP McManus on Gold Cup day at Cheltenham.
According to the Racing Post, Cheltenham managing director Edward Gillespie has granted a spot "within racecourse property" for the expected demonstration.
United4Action are anxious to know exactly where on the course they will be allowed to make their protest.
However, Gillespie is not prepared to discuss which area of Cheltenham he has earmarked.
He said: "I have somewhere in mind, but that is something for me to discuss with them.
"The reason we have suggested that is for public safety and for trying to maximise the efficient running of the race meeting."
Protest
United4Action have pledged their protest on Thursday, March 18 will be peaceful, claiming: "We will always stay within the confines of the law and will endeavour to organise a responsible protest."
Gillespie added in the paper: "That is an encouraging response and, hopefully, with three weeks still to go to the Festival they will contact me."
The group are protesting over the increasing power Magnier and McManus have at Old Trafford. They hold a 28.9% stake in the club through their Cubic Expression company.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is facing court action with Magnier over the stud rights to the record-breaking stallion Rock of Gibraltar.

They are just pathetic!
glazier has just upped his stake too this morning, are we going to protest against everyone who buys shares ? its a free market society, people are entitled to spend their money on whatever they wish, these protests are just making us into a laughing stock, when will the day return when we make the headlines for football acheivements, not missing tests ( rio) or violent conduct ( neville, scholes) or horse racing syndicates, we're becoming a joke.
Whats the world coming to I agree with Glover!
Fantastic, I cant wait to see the daft buggers walking around the cheltenham festival of all places carrying banners saying down with the irish, keep united irish free, might i also suggest a banner proclaiming that guinness is a womans drink. No wonder the racecourse executive have agreed, its like the christians asking to be allowed into the collasium.
Should be great viewing!
Should be great viewing, i agree Bagpuss and i would love to be there to see it....... but just like every other self-respecting United fan, i couldn't get a ticket, mate!
Er, will it be on the telly?
Fear not, Windy, MUTV are showing the highlights shortly afterwards. You can also wander down to the superstore and buy a programme specially signed by Magnier and McManus and still have enough change for a Ryan Giggs duvet cover.
Windy-is the AAG available on the day for extra noise?
Sal, afraid not, gonna have to make their own noise at this one. Anthony, you were nearly right with MUTV, although i think MUTE would be a better option!
They haven,t been given permission,'misquoted'is the term being used or so I,m led to believe.
