Fergie joins racing syndicate

SIR Alex Ferguson has stepped up his interest in horse racing despite his legal feud with John Magnier.

The Manchester United manager has paid £30,000 to become part of the Highclere Thoroughbred Sheridan syndicate that owns two-year-olds Spear and Antoinette.

Sir Alex is locked in a dispute with Magnier - who together with JP McManus is a major shareholder in the club - over stud rights to Rock of Gibraltar.

But he is now one of ten members of the syndicate which, under the management of Harry Herbert, is one of the most successful in Britain.

Spear is trained by David Loder and Antoinette by Sir Michael Stoute. Herbert said: "I have met Sir Alex a few times and it's a pleasure to have him on board."

This just proves that unlike Wenger, Fergie like half the team are not giving 100% to United, I say sack him now before it,s to late.

Your no real Manc something similar sounding thougth. If I have been watching United since 1952. I could not even guess how much money I have spent watching United, going to reserve games as a boy to get tokens to get a ticket I was at Preston when United played them in the cup and the wall collapsed near me and my dad pulled me free. Could not even get in at Old Trafford in the replay, I have been everywhere to watch United Manc, your so pathetic you have no name.

Danny, you are usually quick to comment on just about every story but even for you that is one of the most irrational things you have said. I don't see what this story has to do about anything. Fergies likes horses. So what? I bet even Whinger has a few passions outside Arsenal. Another nothing story from another bored hack.

I fear the end is nigh on this team. I look at the personnel of the club from the top to the bottom of the hierarchy and something nags...are we going backwards? Our signings tend to be hit and miss nowadays (for every Ruud, read Forlan and Kleberson). We pay over the odds for our players (Rio, Ronaldo) and often miss out on genuine superstars. The manager's tactics are starting to be questioned (look at the Leeds game). Is the committment still there from the players? As a regular match going Red, I sometimes get the impression that the players aren't too bothered about small things such as keeping the defence tight, concentration, etc- Roy Keane exempted.

What is going on? What is the solution to this mess?
