End Reds row now - Kenyon

FORMER Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon has called for a quick conclusion to the propaganda war that is threatening to engulf the club.

Major shareholders John Magnier and JP McManus have demanded an independent investigation into United's transfer dealings.

However David Gill, who replaced Kenyon when he moved to a similar role at Chelsea, has only promised an internal review.

Magnier is also in dispute with manager Sir Alex Ferguson over the stud rights to record-breaking stallion Rock of Gibraltar.

Kenyon has looked on at the unfolding saga between the racing tycoons and United's hierarchy with a sense of dismay.

"Hopefully (the matter will be resolved) quickly because that's what ultimately needs to happen, " he told Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek programme.

Sadness

"There is a degree of sadness as it (the dispute) has taken the eye away from what Manchester United are all about - great football and good business.

"That ultimately does not help anyone and it doesn't help the industry. So whatever needs to be done, hopefully will get done."

Should United's response not be to Magnier and McManus' liking - they raised 99 questions - the row could escalate.

They may decide to force their way on to the United board, call an emergency general meeting or report their concerns to the Financial Services Authority.

On the arguments tending to overshadow United's stunning 4-3 victory against Everton, Kenyon said: "That can't be right.

"Listening to that game as the scores came in, it was a magnificent game, along with many others.

"The sooner we get back to reporting great football the better off we will be."

United fans sang anti-Magnier songs at Goodison Park although a widely-expected demonstration at Sandown Park, where the Irish pair had horses running, failed to materialise.

I am not interested in what that traitor has to say he comes out of the same stable as the other two.

Get the feeling reading this that kenyon has left his heart at United and it was the money and possibly seeing this war on the horizon that caused him to jump ship.

I don't have a problem with people changing their jobs (not necessarily better jobs) for money...good luck to him!
But what on earth has this got to do with him now...we all realize where his heart was when he jumped ship! He should look out for all those unsettled players that warm the bench week in week out and figure out who is going to pay the bills when a certain russian gets bored with his toys!

Sorry Peter, but it's none of your business anymore. Your comments are not helpful, not interesting, not needed and not wanted.

Ha, ha, ha. Magnier and McManus are Liverpool fans destroying your club from the inside out. God bless em!

I'm no doom merchant, but this is the end of our club as we know it. Nobody will back down and its starting to show on the pitch. I just can't bear it anymore, its the end of the glory period. PLC wins!

So the devout Stalybridge red finally puts his 2p in eh?

Kenyon has his right to an opinion on this matter, but I think his time would be better spent on his gargantuan task of trying to turn Chelsea into the new Manchester United.

Does Abramovich think he can emulate everything that has been done here? I don't think Chelsea can get close - Man U's reputation has been built on history and past and continuing success. When will Chelsea ever produce a Scholes or Giggs?

These are the factors that made Man U a success, not some gold-digging, red-faced traitor who looks like a young Neil Kinnock.

Away Peter! Go and bask in your forthcoming failure!
