Martin signs for United

MANCHESTER United have completed a £1million swoop for Wimbledon youngster Lee Martin.

United have paid an initial £200,000 for the 16-year-old midfielder, who was also being courted by Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, but with further payments due if he makes the progress anticipated.

Martin was spotted by Sir Alex Ferguson playing for the Dons' under-17 and under-19 sides and will hope the teenager has similar success to Lee Sharpe, whom he picked up in similar fashion from Torquay over a decade ago and went on to become an England international.

I am so proud to come on this site and say hello to my fellow United fans. I love this club more than life itself, but have not been able to come on this site before as you are probably aware. One day I dream of coming to manchester and seeing with my own eyes the theatre of dreams. It is a spectacle that far excels our own wonder the hanging gardens of babylon. Until that day I will keep praying for our wonderful players and maneger to carry on being the greatest football team in the world. I love and cherish you all. SAF knows exactly whhat he is doing. I just hope young Lee enjoys his time under United's expertise.

It should be assumed that when Man U "swoop" for a teenager then they believe that such a player will be good investment. There are no guarantees of course, but with any young prodigy there is always the hope that we could be getting the 'new' Scholes or the 'new' Keane. In 10 years time we may herald the signing of Martin as the best ever b�" but it would be interesting to know how Wimbledon fans rate him.

Hi Abdul,

I'd like to welcome you, and the rest of the people of Iraq back into the International Community, where you belong, and hope your life will get better and better from this day on, a lot of people in the UK where totally against the war, i was not, as I knew what Saddam had done to the people of Iraq, and knew we had a duty to remove him from power, the action we took has been justified, in the fact that you have regained basic human rights, and that democracy will begin to re-establish it's self in Iraq.

I really hope you get to visit Old Trafford, it's a fantastic place, i'm sure someone within the club could arrange something!!

I've played with Lee, he's a class act, in school anyways. He's got the kind of talent that can be honed and developed over trainging rather than just being good. I reckon he'll just keep getting better till he justifies his cash by a long-shot! This guys going places if I'm anyone to judge.

I have played with lee for my school side. He is a class act and will be a manchester utd 1st team player in a couple of years. I wish him the best.
