Shame but it shows the difference in class between us and Chelski, they'd be after him long term.

That's it then official!!
It's a great pity!
As all reds will feel it's a chance missed.
I feel however that we have to respect the agreed period of his tenure and wish him well.
It seems as if he's been here years. He couldn't have found a more ideal home than OT!
(I just wish he'd have 'swayed' a little a couple of years ago!)
Again, best wishes Henke.
Bon voyage.

Barmy all round. I don't understand why a player near the end of his career wouldn't want the chance of more honours.

Reading all the letters received about this topic so far, I'm surprised about people's reaction to his leaving. I don't doubt his legendary past, his vast experience, his footballing intelligence, his exemplary character, his strong commitment, his movement off the ball and his positioning during play. But then I have serious doubts on what has been his contribution to the United team since January, what he has added to our team effort that wasn't there. Has he proved himself to be a better partner than Saha for Rooney? Has he ever been voted MOTM in anyof the games he played? Why not call a spade a spade and tell things exactly as they are, without any sentimental frills.

So, how does it look for the future? Loe has been able to do nothing but but in open rebounds. And then there's.....oh yea, we don't have another striker. Oh well we can put Giggs up there he's a world class striker. Think Rooney felt the preasure at the beginnig of the season, we now it's all up to him and Louis. I don't know....

It is a shame he is not staying. Smith is rubbish!

Nice to have his contribution....I think Fergie has a problem to solve which is of his own creation...why are we (the greatest club in the world) having to recruit a 35 year old for 10 weeks to help us through this season when we once again have not intergrated another "young" striker, or acquired another midfielder to strengthen our side. The whole thing seems so convoluted and amateurist....no different that our player acquisition process.
"Where are our young team Fergie"...going to Sweden me thinks. In spite of SAF poor "form" for building a team his is a genius at getting his teams to play winning football...what a dichotomy!
This is going to be a tough home stretch....although we can make the team younger by bringing in the 32 yr. old OLE! Net 3 years younger.

This is not good, entering the most important two months of the season with Smith and Ole as back-up to Saha and Rooney. How many goals have Rooney and Saha scored 2007? Both need to redscover their goalscoring form.

He gave us the relief we needed so lets have Roo and Louis end up the season for us. Both are capable and Smitty and Ole will just have to help out as subs. Thats the reality so lets get on with it.
Big brawl at the end of ther Carling cup. Let's see if the FA have the guts to deal with it properly. Fines? Of course. How else would one handle it. Another Gin and Tonic? Yes Please but make it a double after such a stressfull decision. Hope they can afford it.

to be honest larsson was not as good as i thought he would be either scoring or setting up goals, having said that when he goes i hope that both saha and rooney remain fit because ole, and smith are at the moment somewhat off the pace.

Just back from 12 months in USA seen United's last two games against Lille and then Fulham. How are they top of the Premier beats me any ideas? The defense has only Vidic and with Rooney out of top they are struggling up front - Ronaldo's a show pony and will probably leave these shores in the Summer.

See Chelsea won another Trophy!

He's been OK, but some of the comments here are way over the top. He's 35, still an OK player, but no world beater these days. We won't miss him. He started well, but the last two games he's been anonymous.

The return to Helsingborg thing is just a smokescreen - the word is he's signing permanently for Chelsea - been a lifelong apparently (say's so on his website)

I'd like to say thanks Henk and good luck! All the people questioning his contribution on the pitch are underestimating his influence off it. By all accounts this man has performed a finishing school job on some of the potential in our team. Rooney is playing again! Ronaldinho himelf gushes about the example he set him at Barcelona. I can see why the Celtic fans idolised him!

I know alot of people won't agree but i'm not particularly gutted thats he's leaving he's a class act and helped us rest louis, and i personally think that will be the key a fresh louis saha because i think wev'e missed his pace and power since larsson has been playing, i'm also hoping smith will be back soon because all though not everyone's cup of tea he brings that agression and drive when he's played upfront alot like kevin davies and defenders hate playing those sort of players and for all those who question his footballing ability don't know what there talking about if he's played in his proper position he is a class player and a great asset to us

Sir Ferguson,

Please extend the loan on Larsson. The player has clearly shown his great potentials and he was just wasting his time where he was at fisrt. How I wish he joine the red devils some years ago. Let the Swede club allow him to finish the season with Man United; with him inclusive I see the young boys really improving their skills.

Please lets join hands in persuading the Man United Top Management to serously consider extending the loan on Larsson.

Larsson is 35 years old and was always intended to be a stop-gap signing.

The fact that Solskjaer, Scholes, Neville & Giggs, who are the mainstay of our team, are all on the wrong side of 30 highlights the need for at least 3 top signings in the summer.

Fergie is so close to building another super team, but I feel we are not quite there yet.

We have been very fortunate with injuries this season and I dread a spate of injuries as we head into the final straight of what has been an incredible season.

If we can bring home a major title (or two) with the current squad and then add to it in the summer, the future looks incredibly bright.

A bit harsh, maybe, but I am pretty much with the posting by Louis on this. I think that both SAF and Larsson himself recognise that Father Time has caught up sufficiently to make the 1 or 2 high speed games a week too much for old bones, no matter how classy. Now we have a rested Saha and an alledgedly fit again Smith, and if those two cannot cut it then we have a management problem not just confined to the petulant dropping of the club captain.

Been nice seeing him ...just a shame it was 5 years too late. His contribution has been good but not spectacular..back to Smithy (oh god please no).
