COME ON VILLA!

Five PL clubs definitely going out in round 3, maybe more. Barring a disaster on Wednesday, the FA Cup will definitely be third-priority for us this season but we should get past Villa if Fergie plays a strong side (though I doubt he will play our strongest). Could be Larsson's debut?

A good draw. A prem team should make Fergie play a decent team, instead of the Exeter debacle. Having said that, the prem has got to be Uniteds target, at the expence of all other competitions if need be. To win the prem and condem Chelsea to 2nd place would be fantastic. The prem is the true measure of the best team in England. Not the stupid F.A. Cup or the poxy Champions league. Who cares about beating Benfica? Beating Citeh is the one the fans want, enroute to beating Chelsea to the title. I hope our prem challenge doesnt falter because Fergie gives the champions league a greater importance. It has happened in the past and is pure folly. The trouble is Fergie is fixated on winning it again, whilst the fans want the prem league and dont give a Hoolok Monkeys Chuff about the silly champions league, full of overated prima donnas like Ronaldinho, Totti, Kaka and Neil Lennon.

Khaled we want to win everything, including the Champions LEAGUE, we know we are the best England we need to show that we are the bestin Europe as well.

Khaled your assesment of the fa cup is just plain wrong. I would take a blood and thunder tie against weaker opposition anyday of the week than watch a dead rubber tie in the champions league eg porto vs arsenal this week were a draw suits both teams. And united have been involved in enough of those games in recent years. Because you are not a native of these lands you cant imagine how exciting a day out it is to be setting off early on saturday morning to go to the cup final. I have been lucky enought to attend several at wembley and cardiff and give me those games at any time to travelling away in europe to watch the OTHER united.

I cant wait to come up to old trafford for this one, looking forward to seeing it after increasing your capacity. It will be a great tie, on our day we can get a result out of anyone, but i think everyone knows what man u are capable of on performances this season. either way a great day out watching two great clubs with previous massive success in the competition. COME ON YOU VILLA, yipee ayyyayyyy yipee aaaayyyyoooooooooohhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!

we need to prioritise the premiership and the champions league, that is for sure. With Larson in the frame his experience will help us loads in Europe.

Bobby, did it ever occur to you that Khaled might in fact be Bill Smith or whatever, postal worker from Sale.
I don't think he could even point to Bangladesh on a map.
His posts are off the wall so he attracts a lot of responses.
Back to Villa. The stronger the competition the better for this club who seem to have a concentration problem against weaker opposition.

colin, canada, You are a disgrace sir! I do not question where you come from, but that is because it is OBVIOUS you are from Canada as you know nothing about football (no ice and no puck involved).

Good draw. Glad to see one of the Arse or Liverpool will be out. Their seasons are getting better and better. As for United, they should field a strong team, but IMO it is definitely the 3rd most important priorty. Hopefully UNITED will have some extra ammunition come January to make a run at the FA cup.

We have to be the best team in England. Premiership is a priority. But we have to beat Benfica because we need $$$ from the CL to buy players and pay debts. Also we need a good run in the FA as well . Dont care if Porto win the CL and Arsenal the FA cup BUT I CAN'T STAND TO LOOSE THE PL AGAIN (snifff)

It's all well and good saying we want to win everything but looking at how we've fared in the last few years with respect to trophies, the Premiership has got to be top priority. After we sort that out, then I expect other successes will follow and not the other way around.

Sorry Khaled, differing opinions.. again.. If I had to choose one, I d take the CL over the EPL this season because the European trophy hauls are what the greatest teams are measured against.. Just look at Arse-nal, won the league unbeaten but that team still fell a bit short of immortality, the Champions League.. The league is important, I dont deny it, but the European Cup well and truly is, the holy grail.. No question..

Oh yeah, overrated prima donnas like Ronaldinho and Kaka?? Have you taken your medication, Khaled?

Remember folks, after Khaled's 1-0 loss to Everton prediction, NYXMC of New York, declared him to officially be a 'pillock'
When are we getting the tee shirts done, I'll order two, one for me and one for Khaled

See what I mean Bobby. The man is off the wall but at least we have his tactics for the city game. Run at Richard Dunne all day because his pace and ability to turn quickly are slightly less than those of a goat. I think we would be better off preparing for all those panic punts from the City defence all day long and they do look exposed down the right.

Loyal to the end i have yet to meet a red this season who thinks the cl is more imortant than pl. The league should always be our top priority. For pure enjoyment you cant beat the fa cup its great at ot when the opposition bring 8-10 thousand fans to game. When was the last time you actually enjoyed an away game in europe?

Report This Reply

I'm with Bobby on that one - gimme the PL over the CL any day because you don't necessarily have to be the best to win in Europe whereas invariably the best team wins the PL (bar the odd exception eh Alias ;-) ).

Report This Reply

I am not saying either is more important.. But you can't deny that there is a special feeling to winning the Champions League and being crowned the Kings of Europe.. Chris, I can easily argue it the other way, the league allows mistakes but in a knock-out competition, there are no excuses, you have to be at your best every leg, which kinda explains why not a lot of teams manage to defend the trophy.. Again, not saying the Premier League is not important, just explaining why the European Cup is what every team should aim for, and really should be their ultimate aim.. it's what the scousers jibe us with everytime, no? 5 times?

loyal to the end your argument does not hold weight. for example in a cup competition united would have been out on the away goals rule vs celtic. and copenhagen away united fielded a very weak team in a fa cup tie they would have then been eliminated. the cl only wakens up when it gets to the knockout stage and bad performances and no ambition get punished which has what has happened to us in recent seasons. if you want to see what i mean look out for the arsenal game tonight when you will see both teams playing out a boring tie trying not to get beaten

Loyal to the end: Porto and Liverpool were hardly the best teams in Europe when they won the CL - Porto should have gone out had the ref not dissallowed a perfectly legitimate Scholes goal.

BD, dats exactly what i am saying.. "in a knockout competition", hence implying the later stages, since the first round is essentially a mini-league.. Chris, they were the best team in the competition for the reason that I said, you ve to be at your best in every leg, which is why it's so hard to win the CL.. I dont like them, but I have to say Pool's come back against a complacent Milan was impressive.. Again, not saying the Premier League is not important, equal priority to winning both, but winning the European Cup is more special, stop denying it, i know deep down you agree with me..

Loyal, winning the CL would be a dream, of course it would. But, for me, winning the Prem this year and breaking Chelsea's - a team with an unprecedented financial hold on the European game - hold on the league would be Fergie's greatest achievement, plain and simple. So it's Premiership all the way as far as I'm concerned. But I happen to believe that doing well on more than one front breeds further confidence and success, so the longer we stay in the Cup and the CL the better for our prospects in the CL, regardless of Mourinho's rubbish comments yesterday.
