PLAYER ratings fromthe Reds win over Bolton Wanderers.
Van der SAR - had the best view in the house for 25 minutes, and a physical battle with Bolton's front line after that 6
Neville - Not really a day for United defenders, but he overlapped to good effect and tidied at the back 6
Ferdinand - Could afford to have an easy day of it with his defensive partner in such commanding form 6
Vidic - Awesome at the back at a time when Bolton tried to bludgeon their way back into the game through physical presence 8
Evra - Found the going a bit too physical once Bolton got into gear, and ended up being stretchered off 6
Carrick - Amid all the flamboyance and the flair, he was available to keep the cogs oiled with smart, quick passing 8
Ronald - Played his part in a magnificent opening 25 minutes by United, but drifted in and out of the game after that 7
Giggs - Sublime at times in the first half, and his work rate didn't drop when the match became more of a contest 7
Scholes - His passing was as sweet and sure as ever, and he still put in the customary rattling tackles when needed 8
Rooney - Two goals of supreme quality completed his fightback from poor form - back at his monstrous best 9
Saha - Should have scored in second half, and that would have been a fitting reward for his link-up play 7
Subs
Heinze (for Evra 62 mins) - eased back into action after Wednesday's exertions 5
O'Shea (for Saha 84) - Just a tidying up job to do when he came on 5
Fletcher (for Giggs 84) - His only job was to see the game to the final whistle 5
GOALS - Rooney (10, 16, 89), Ronaldo (82) for United
BOOKINGS - Davies (53) for Bolton. Scholes (67) for United.

Fletcher had a great assist for Rooney's third, btw.
Ah well, he's used to being overlooked, I guess.
Will have to assess individual ratings once I've seen the highlights but sounded like we were very strong throughought today and full of confidence. I said the other day that Boltons early league position didn't reflect their ability and that showed today but take nothing away from Utd for the performance. I sometimes think it is harder to play after your main rival because if they already have the points it is extra pressure but the lads responded superbly by seeing Chelsea and raising them.
It'll not be out of place if they all are given 9 each. Cos this was the best team efforts I witnessed for a very long time. There is no one that will argue of the committment and performances of these 11 super stars players in this magnificient result.
Carrick is becoming more and more influential. Quick passing and great interception skills and excellent positionning. He protects the back four and allows players like Giggs, Scholes and Ronaldo (even EVRA) to move forward more often often. Carrick deserves 9.
Oh mh god.. i going yo print Vidic on my new jersey!! What a performance for this serbia guy!! He even better than Nesta!! But.. we struggle the first 20 mins for second half.. I think we got no leader like keane. Nev not a good captain.
United's best performance of the season which unsurprisingly corresponds with the first time we have seen those front six together. A top result and one that should go some to proving that Carrick and Scholes can play together against top midfielders, either home or away. The hype over Roo's form seems so long ago now. Long may this continue.
excellent performance from all the team today. we absolutely pummelled bolton in the first half. all the players did well today, but a special mention goes to both carrick and rooney. rooney with his hatrick, and carrick with his best performance for united to date, involved in 3 of the goals, with his pass to rooney for the first topping the lot. Shame to see evra stretchered off after having another good game. hopefully the injuries not too serious. Vidic was a mountain again today. What a buy!
My friend who works at OT says Vidic is the hardest man in the dressing room but Carrick is the comedian but with performances like today that means Fergie was right yet again.
10pts to everyone including the guys on the bench, and 10pts for the manager. About Carrick.......those who have been watching football for many many years knowthat it takes time for a player to gel in a new team and I would not be surprised that this young man will take less than others. West Ham produced a lot of quality, really.
This was one of the best united i have seen for a long time. they all did well. carrick is torning out to be our beckham providing some spectacular long balls. he is improving. rooney is back to his best. ryan gigs on form. ronaldo took time to get into the game after a weeks of abcence. iam happy he scored. flecture just showed what he can do in the last 6 mins. supers assit and some good clearance and the one and only vidic... strong as a rock in defence. a great sining from ferguson as we expected. now we are ready to take on any big gunns bring on arsenal or chelsea
So Liam, you think you can assess individual performances by watching highlights, do you? Bizarre. Well that might explain why you've been so wide of the mark on Carrick. Luckily he was so good tonight that even just watching the highlights will show you the error of your ways!
Jonathan Chin, how cxan you complain about Neville's captaincy when we have just won the game 4.0 away at the reebok, which if you didn't happen to know, is a very difficult place to go to and pick up a victory. So, the fact that Bolton put us under a bit of pressure for a spell during the game is hardly unexpected.
Best first 20 mins football i've seen from MU.......hope they can produce this form all the time!
jonathan chin..agree with u abt Gaz..he good at PR but on the field he not vocal enough!! Vidic,Rio or Rooney much better choice
Saha CANNOT score in ONE-ON-ONE battles with the keeper... :(
Finally!! Concrete evidence that Carrick is a world class player in the making. He and Scholes look like they were born for each other. This wasn't just a one-off. This has been coming for a long time. United were irresistable today and when they all click they are a fearsome crew. Good for Rooney. His work rate has been outstanding throughout his recent drought making his hat-trick all the more sweet. The ratings were about spot on and show that the central axis of United's set-up is what it should be to see off the likes of Chelsea and the best in Europe. It's all coming good right now. Oh goodie!
I am absolutely delighted with the performance. And please for God sake, no negative comments like we did not have any leader for 20 minutes in second half. Carrick probably had his best game for us. I was so any at Fergie for buying Vidic and Evra but he has proved yet again why he has been there for 20 years. People slay him for getting is wrong with Jema, Veron, kleberson but forget about Rooney, Ronaldo, Saha. Cantona, Cole, Solkjar and list goes on and on. United forever ......
I'd like to give Sir Alex 9 out of 10 for holding his nerve. Too often in the past, this was the type of game that he would opt for an insipid 4-5-1 as if a draw was good enough. This time not only 4-4-2 but a commitment to attacking football from the very first minute. It's years since I've felt this positive about United and long may it continue. But let's not get carried away. Considering the pace Chelski have set over the last two seasons we are just about on "par" - 25 points from 10 games = 95 points from a full season and that wouldn't have been enough two years ago. So we need this commitment to attacking football and scoring to continue - we cannot afford draws. I'd also like to apologise for criticising the purchase of Vidic and Evra as both have turned out to be excellent this season. But not 10 out of 10 for SAF because I was puzzled by his late substitutions.
Where are all those critics who moaned when Vidic and Evra were finding their way last season?
Vidic was my man of the match. He was like a rock back there, and Bolton didn't stand a chance. Fantastic game by Rooney and Carrick also. Let's hope we can carry this form on to FC Kopenhagen.
They were moaning about Fletcher and Carrick noticed how Khaled does not appear when United play well.Phil Neville shut up Wenger yet again.I just wished we could play Chelsea next week and force the Rubbles down their throats.
Great performances. Thought Carrick was a 7 as he went missing alot in the second half.
I cant take it anymore...VIDIC is just amazing in air...i want to see ManUtd play every day...what a player
Please, please, please do not put/give Carrick "World Class" statis...he hasn't earned it and he may never earn it...one good game does nothing to convince me he is the answer to our midfield rebuilding "program". We need players in midfield who are technically gifted and leaders...Carrick is not a leader or a commanding prescense.
Haha! What did i say last week? I said that the people doing the rating probably dont even watch the game. And this week they dont even know that rooney scored a hat trick and that fletcher set up the last goal.
Anyway we were awesome yesterday the best footy in the first half hour i have seen in a long long time
