Manchester United

Watford v Manchester United: player ratings

PLAYER ratings from United's trip to Watford.

6 Van der Sar: Left exposed for Watford goal otherwise his work was routine

6 O'Shea: Midfield against Charlton and two roles at Watford. Right back and central defence same solid contribution

6 Ferdinand: Started out as a Vicarage Road tea party for him but turned out anything but.

6 Brown: Looked far more in control and steady when moved to right back

5 Silvestre: Freedom of left flank for first half hour and capitalised with goal but undone too easily for equaliser

7 Ronaldo: The boos didn't last that long as Watford crowd had to admire his fancy footwork

6 Fletcher: Usual bundle of energy in centre of midfield kept Reds ticking over

5 Carrick: Kept his passing in the simple category so his impact was quiet

8 Giggs: Old head on...well old shoulders but the legs still from the early 90s

6 Solskjaer: Gave United an hour of tireless work and a couple of half chances

6 Saha: Always a handful for Watford's defence and maybe should have been on scoresheet as a result

Subs:

Park (sub Solskjaer 59) Didn't add to the threat

Richardson (sub Carrick 75) Kept it disciplined in midfield

Evra, Rossi, Kuszczak not used

Bookings:

Watford: Mahon (40)

United: Richardson (79)

Referee: P Dowd - Nothing to bother him except Fergie and his watch!

What do you think? Have your say.

Giving both Solskjaer and Saha a 6 is a clear indication that whoever gives these points never saw the match or else knows nothing about football. Solskjaer never got in the game and deserves no more than 5. Saha surely deserves a 7. He played his heart out, provided the pass for the first goal and was terribly unlucky not to score.

I like to watch Ronaldo play this season he doesn't lost often the ball he controll it very well becouse he doesn't use so often his skills. He plays with brain not like last season and a very impressive display from Giggs and Saha. But please let Park play and not the loser Fletcher ans O'shea.Evra did a very good job in the preseason and in hte two last games.Carrick was very bad today I hope he will be better it was a very importend win because it was very difficult and now only one game without Rooney and Scholes and than we will be better.ManU I Love You

Not our best performance but
United got the job done, and,
without Neville, Heinze, Rooney
and Scholes. Not bad eh?
Up the Reds

SAHA 6 = Fletcher 6 !!!!!!!!! If This is a joke then let me start laughing, jajajajajaj jajaja jajajaj jajajaja Please , fisrt Saha was everywhere doing the Rooney work at midfileld looking for the ball ,passing, opening up the defence .At least an 8 for me and Fletcher a 5 at most. Second, why so many changes to the lineup and players out of position.Ronaldo 8, Giggs 9,SuperSub 5. Lucky win .
P.S: am i the only one here that wacth the ManU games twice?

Carrick 5!!! that's shocking, the guy was very good today, he cleaned up the pieces in front of the back four and did a great job. Considering he is fresh to the side he offered a more than competent display.

Glad Man Utd managed to grind out the win.. but make no mistake about it..it was a slightly disappointing performance. Definately not used to seeing a No. 16 shirt player performing without any passion. Can't wait for the cover to return..O'shea and Fletcher gotta go as soon as possible. Fletcher should just join a marathon cos thats all he does...and fergie should send O'shea for first touch 101 class..for a professional footballer..the guy is hopeless with his control.

Mr Carrick, this is not Spurs. This is MU. He looks extremely slow and was out done several times. Was it a good move to place him with Fletch at the same time? Not the best of game but thank God we got all 3 points. We need more aggresive and energetic midfielders.

i think the rating is not fair,
6pts for vanda sar
6 pts for brown,
4pts for fedinarndb'se he did not take the responsibility of marking the opponet, which resulted to equalizer,
5 pts for oshea
,4pts for carrick.b'se he was not giving clear croesses,,
& his passing&marking was poor,
8 pts for Gigs old but had something to show off.congraculation for the performance
6 pts for saha,7for ronald,
3 pts for silvester, though he scored but he had a worst runn in the frank, and caused trouble &pressure to ur difence,5pts for solsier,
3pts for richardson for not helping to change the game, and was not composed

think you were unfair on rio who had a good game and also saha was a 7. both midfield players had quiet inneffective games looking forward to scholes back in the team.silvestre looks like an accident waiting to happen in every game.

This is getting beyond a joke MEN!!! Again our team get awarded 6's and a 5 for one of our goalscorers!!! Get a life. It wasn't as good to watch as the first few games of the season (In which the MEN also awarded quite a few 6's!!) but without Heinze, Neville, Vidic, Scholes and Rooney we played very well against decent opposition away from home. I feel that everyone deserved a 7 with Silvestre 8, Saha 8, Ronaldo 9 and Giggs 10. I wasn't too happy about Evra getting the axe as he's been one of our best players. Think Brown at RB and Evra at LB would've been better with Ferdinand and Sivestre in the centre. O'Shea Fletcher and Carrick in the midfield with Ronaldo and Giggs on the wings leaving Saha upfront on his own (like he played for Fulham) would have caused Watford alot more problems. I'm glad to see Ole back but he shouldn't have started against Watford. Other than that I think Watford were good value and will be hard to breakdown at home and we'll take some stopping once we get everyone back again, including the now injured Ferdinand - Get well soon mate!!! Support the Team and Live the Dream.....

things are going fine for now ,but me have to meet stronger opposition to know were we are. with rooney and scoles again in the side we will be stronger , and fingers crossed we get owen , and maybe tevez we can be a stronger side like the treble one. i hope that for the sake off the team and fans we get them and please mr fergie d"ont really on players that they have grown to much like richardson who so silly of him was only i think few seconds then minutes on the pitch doing nothing by pushing and not noing were he was even fergie was furious by the touch line when we were 2-1 up and watford wre pushing for the equiliser .stupid thing to do . also i think that from i have seen aldow we only played 3 games up front we are more faster then we were with van nisteroy, d,ont get me wrong thanks for the good moments he gave us but saha has the pase ,mobile and reads the game very well . i think he is a henry look alike for us .get the men we need and we will be there for shure .i put my money on utd

Well I think the Suns statement regarding Fletcher was a bit harsh, that he would be better suited to play for Watford thats an insult to Watford.

Giggs showing his age. Retire him.

6 for Saha is a pathetic rating, he was brilliant yet again and its just a pity he didn't score after that excellent run through the Watford defence... The weak point in the team is yet again Fletcher as we all know... Ronaldo should be playing alongside Saha and Solskjaer must still be used as a super sub and not starter

The MUEN doesn't flinch from posting thick rags winding up blues but when its the other way around censorship is the order of the day. No wonder blues can't stand your excuse for a newspaper.

We would have drawn or lost this game last year. Whilst I am still pessimistic on our chances of overturning Chelsea this season, what I do see is a real passion within the players. When we add Neville, Heinze, Scholes, Rooney, and hopefully Hargreaves to this mix, I think we are genuine title contenders. And to all the folks over the years on this list, in Old Trafford, and in the pubs and clubs of Manchester who have slagged Ryan Giggs (and lets admit it, we all have at some time or another, including me!!!), we need to eat our words. the lad bleeds red and white, and we may have overlooked his quality and passion because we have known him for so long. The guy is a legend up there with Keane, Cantona, Robson, Whiteside, and Hughes.

The game was nice but,we missed alot of goals.

mark giggsy is playing very well and he is a pleasure to watch. hope he does not slip back into the comfort zone as he has shown far too often in recent seasons. on this form ryan is still the BEST left sided midfield player in the world. keep it up please

Blue Mooning, Swinging on a Star

Do you mean you think he's ready for that burial ground known as the Citah of Manchester stadia, or asda for short?? I think Giggs has 2 years before his legs go and Pearce comes knocking offering him a 2 year deal :oP

bobbydazzler, got to agree on Sylvestre. I understand the theory behind SAF's thinking in selecting him against Watford (for his physical presence) but he is too error prone and I would not have him in the team except in case of dire emergency (ie behind Heinze & Evra). Giving him a new contract was a mistake on SAF's part IMO.

Saha looks really good and he is a much more mobile player than Van if he keeps fit he will be a positive suprise for all of us. We need a couple of players and please top ones. Would love to see Torres here but we would need to open our pockets next season....and even so we would be depending on him wanting to join us. We look good now but I am afraid we will have to continue this winning wave much longer.
CR is just now proving that he will be the best player in the world in a couple of years. Keeps me awake when we play in sucha boring way.

Im sure Barry will have his first say on Ronaldo for the season. The minute he has a bad game.

I am wit you Lee.....I never seen sucha looser like Barry from California. He is just waiting to have ago at him........and some others.
As soon as we loose a game you will see the Rooney versus Ronaldo issue again.
