Phil wants place back

FORMER United midfielder Phil Neville is determined to make a return to international football when new England boss Steve McClaren takes charge of the national team.

Neville, 29, earned the last of his 52 caps a year ago, but was part of the England set-up prior to the 23-man squad being named for the World Cup.

"There is a clean slate with the new regime and we have got to look forward," he said. "I am no different and I desperately want to continue playing for England.

"Just being called back for the three weeks I had in the summer gave me a taste and kept me involved.

"There is a game on August 18 and a European qualifier on September 2 so everyone wants to be in McClaren's first squad."

Can Neville regain his place in the England squad? Have your say.
