Sven waits on Rooney results

SVEN-Goran Eriksson will sit by his phone today praying for good news on England and United striker Wayne Rooney.

Rooney had an all-important scan on his broken metatarsal bone yesterday and early unofficial reports hinted that he could play some part in next month's World Cup.

Manchester United doctor Tony Gill will study the results of the scan before giving his verdict to Eriksson and the England medical team.

England's B-team lost to 10-man Belarus last night and reserve keeper Robert Green looks set to miss the World Cup after suffering a bad groin injury.

After a night like that, Eriksson could do with a boost from Rooney.

The England boss said: "The scan has been done and the doctor will look at it in the morning at 9.30.

Scan

"It is important to wait until he sees the scan. Let's wait and see. It is less than 12 hours. Then we will know the answer for sure.

"It will be huge for the country if he can be ready during the World Cup."

The England manager had not spoken to Rooney since the scan at a Manchester hospital.

Rooney, who broke his foot on April 29, has been recuperating under the supervision of club doctor Mike Stone.

Stone was sacked earlier this week, amid rumours of a row with Sir Alex Ferguson, but the England boss trusts United to get Rooney fit for the World Cup finals.

Eriksson said: "Manchester United took the decision they took. I suppose they are extremely well covered behind Mr Stone. I am not worried about that."

Typical Fergie. Fire the messenger in Dr Stone as it doesn't suit his devious plan to deny Rooney to England. I'm not trying to compare Reyna to Rooney but City have allowed him to play for the USA knowing how subject he is to injury instead of trying to keep him away from the World Cup and wrap him in cotton wool for next season.

What will Fergie's selfish attitude do to his relationship with Rooney who is desperate to go to Germany?

He has really lost the plot. It started with booting out Beckham, carried on with his fall out with Keane and now Van Nistleroy is on his bike. The writing is finally on the wall with John Obi Mikel who like Ronaldinho, Essien and several others just dont want to play for United with him in charge.

We may have had a carp season but we are building for the future with young players like Sturridge, Hart, Richards, Samaras, Mills.

The futures looking bright in Manchester and the futures Blue.

England should have taken Frazier Campbell instead of Walcott. At least he's played infront of an OT full house in keanos testimonial. And hows this for stats: Walcott 5 reserve starts 2 goals. Campbell 12 reserve starts 15 goals. 100m sprint times: Walcott 11.23. Campbell 10. 48. Upper body strength: Walcott can bench press 235 lbs. Campbell 297lbs. So Campbell should be there. Where did khaled get these stats? He made them up of course!! Well, lets face it, thats more information than Sven acted on in picking Walcott. He only had the recommendation of a man who wont risk picking Walcott for his own league team.

PBoro Blue, if Rooney is fit enough he should go. Otherwise who cares about England Utd come first. If England do win the World Cup we will hear about it non stop for the next 40 years. On second thoughts it would be better if Rooney did'nt go.
