SIR Alex Ferguson is banking on a change in fortune for Sam Allardyceés Bolton to aid Unitedés late title push.
Wanderers play Chelsea at the Reebok on Saturday when Unitedés lead could be down to just four points if they beat almost relegated Sunderland on Friday.
Bolton have lost their last four matches on the trot and their chase for a UEFA Cup slot is faltering.
But Fergie is convinced they will arrest their slide and also help the Reds into the bargain.
éI firmly believe that by winning our games we have an outstanding chance,é he said.
éObviously, we have to go to Stamford Bridge and win there. But Chelsea still have to go to Bolton, Blackburn and Newcastle for Alan Shearerés last game.
éThere are a lot of things in our favour but we need them to drop points then our visit to Stamford Bridge could become pivotal. We are still alive. We have every chance now.é
We need a collapse but sometimes it can happen, like it happened to us in 1992. We drew one match, then lost three in a week and lost the league.
éChelsea have some difficult games. Do I think Bolton are going to lose five in a row? No, I do not. They are going for Europe and they will go for it.é
Do you share Fergie's optimism? Have your say.

two words; "No Chance"....
Six more words... "It aint over 'til it's over".
A couple of words ... if there is really No Chance, why the trophy has not been presented to Chelsea already? I am not saying that this is easy, but sometimes, there is miracle in life sometimes. Anyway, even if MU can not catch Chelsea in the end, the fact that MU can fight till the very end is already a miracle. What's more you can ask for from a team?
No chance? That's what your name Mr Hansen said too in 1993.
Chelsea's 4-1 victory against West Ham with ten men has upped their players moral quite a bit. We could have done without that. Bolton will have their work cut out if they are to get anything out of that match. As for us, no matter what the outcome of the Premiership will be, next season can't come soon enough. We have definately turned the corner. The players have a self believe that is all to evident for everyone to see, if only there is more games left. Well done Lads. Well done Boss. You have answered your critics with the football & not by blabbering.
no matter what happens to the title (which i still think is headed to stamford bridge), i am extremely proud of the team. Nobody gave us a chance a few months ago and even the most hardcore united fans were getting disillusioned with Sir Alex and the team. To be even forcing a title race out of what many people thought was a foregone conclusion is credit to fergie and the players. I seriously believe that with the right midfield players brought in this summer, we could make it a real interesting title race next season. Come on United!!
If we do catch Chelsea it will be Fregie's greatest title triumph, no question. But even if we dont, what did we ask for, in all reality, at the start of the season? Win a trophy, check. Get closer to Chelsea, check, more points on the board, check. Better attackingplay, check. Well done boys.
Looks like it's up to the Northern clubs to end the Chelski arrogance. Might even be a Shearer fan on the last day of the season!
Ball is in chelseas court but i would never say no chance, ok chelsea may only need 9 points to guarantee the league but with three away games at bolton, blackburn and newcastle and only two home games against everton and united it isn't going to be plain sailing as all them teams will test them more than a very poor west ham team who seem to have lost all momentum in the last six games. Of cause it isn't going to be easy for us either but sunderland, mboro and charlton at home are well winable but our two away games at spurs and chelsea are not easy at all.
Loan Rossi and Campbell to Bolton for the weekend.
if we win the rest of our games - and chelsea lose against us and draw 2 games (from bolton, blackburn, newcastle, everton)- it will go to goal difference.so, it will be tight all the way - looks unlikely - but chelsea could eaily wobble!
It's gonna be tough but who would have thought that we would ever be in this position? I have to hold my hands up and say that I didn't give us a prayer earlier this season but Fergie seeing sense and playing football the way we should turned the tide, couple that with a return to form of Ronaldo, Saha staying fit for more than a day and of course the boy wonder doing his stuff we actually look like United again. It's a shame that this run didn't start a month sooner and I hope that the summer break doesn't cause us to lose any momentum, hopefully next year will be ours with the expected signings. Come on Bolton!
... and loan fletcher to chelski!!
Miracles do happen to this club. It all started after Vidic arrived. He has been awesome.
Next season with the key addition in the midfield we will be a force again, and not boring. Hopefully we don't buy any of the Chelsea malcontents and absolutely not the cheating Robben.
Alas to late...but what a sterling effort by the chaps...
Two words mmmmm DREAM ON!!!!!
The most important thing is that we're playing great football. Ourselves and Arsenal played better football on Sunday than bore meisters Chelsea have all season. Imagine their end of season DVD...deflections, scuffs and Drogba. Quality.
Hats off to our lads.At least Jo$e Mourinho is feeling the heat .
Come on Notlob!
beware the curse of been top at x'mas.no team top on x'mas has gone on to win the premiership.chelsea was top.......
i think the fa cup (i predict chelsea will lost to liverpool)will finally break chelsea.they will go on a downward spin thereafter.manu to win the premiership.
I think it may be a little late to catch Chelsea, but we have plenty of plusses. Nobody seems to have mentioned that Jose Mourinho predicted that they would wrap it up before Easter (April 9th has come and gone Jose!)...and Mr Kenyon, what was that you said about the title race involving "a small group of one"?...pure arrogance. Isn't it a funny feeling to have the neutrals gunning for us for once!?...All bodes well for next season.
Come on Bolton, do
the business v Chelsea and we'll go easy on you next season. Nolen, this is your chance to show if you're up
to it?
Up the Reds
Catching Chelsea is not likely to happen, but it is encouraging to see us playing flowing football, attacking and defending in numbers and very entertaining stuff it is. Pity it came to late. So Fergie, play the strongest team, don't tinker with it regardless of the opposition. No let down against Sunderland this week, Saha & Rooney up front, everyone else the same as last week against the Arses. Finish of the season with all guns blazing.
George Lyons, Collyhurst - agree with you mate, looks too little, too late. We've done magnificent this season though considering we had no midfield, and lost Keane, Scholes, etc, and have lost only three games as we done in the treble seaon. Unfortunaely, Chelsea were stronger squad wise, although with a couple of signings, we will no doubt be the stronger team, so here's to finishing the season strongly, hopefully beating Chelsea away although they will most likely finish top, and let's look forward to a good World Cup and new signings in the summer. PS - George, say hello to Chalkie (my uncle) if you see him for us mate...
Trusting we beat Sunderland (for nothing is ever guaranteed), let us see how Chelski responds. Footballers are like other athletes - susceptible to changes in their comfy environs. For those who think such matters are fait accompli have no hope, sheep before their shearer comes to mind. Thank Heaven above for those made of sterner stuff and character.
