didn't get the opportunity to see the game, but sounds like a good one. can anyone tell me however, with three wide men on the field who played inside with fletcher? hope it was Ronaldo, he would be devistating running at defenders in front of goal rather than down the touch line.

Ronaldo played on the right, Park on the left and Giggs and Fletcher played in the centre. Smith replaced Giggs at half-time.

Boring second half because the game was over. Smith is non existant whereas Fletcher is all over the park.
I think Ronaldo, Fletcher, Giggs and Park is our starting mid field but Saha needs starts. Neither Roo or Ruud had a particularly good game. Vidic is starting to show his worth which leaves Sylvestre gonzo in the summer. Too bad we had to sub VDS as I would have like to have seen Evra sub Sly and Saha sub Ruud. Resting Giggs was a good move as we need him for the next two battles. A Liverpool loss to Arsenal puts us in good shape.

Let's repeat this result at Anfield in the FA Cup on Sunday. I would love it, really love it.. Come on you Reds..!!

Didnt have the opportunity to see the game,but what a lineup giggs,park ronaldo played togther. what a good tried saf.you should do this more from now on, ibelive non of these players would like to sit on the bench. 3-0 first half, thats the quality attacking team.and always good to see park and ronaldo played together, without one of them is feel like without an arm.

This was not an easy one by any means. Trust the EPL. Chelsea had just been thrashed. United had not won at Fratton Park in the EPL, following two straight defeats. One of those places where silly things could have caused a defeat. So, it was a fantastic performance in the first half. One observation though, with the change (Smith for Giggs), we lost the ability to drive forward as Smith always pass back to defenders (safer?). This allowed Portsmouth the opportunity to attack and cause us the problems that they did in the second half. Smith and Fletch together does not work, and I hope that is why SAF did not start with them. No doubt Giggs was withdrawn as a precaution with us leading 3 nil. For all those non-believers that wanted us to get rid of a young kid with mammoth potential, be brave and apologize. Ronaldo's RED LEGEND in the making, and I look forward to enjoy this as I did Cantona, Scholes & Giggs.
One last word, VIDIC is the word.

If Chelsea can lose 3 more games and draw 1, then we have got a chance for the title as when we come to Stamford Bridge. Oh yeah, Ronaldo is amazing. Definitly man of the match.

VDS needed a break but Howard was shaky. Brown had a solid defensive game but didn't blend with Ronaldo going forward. Roy and Vidic struggled in 2nd half, excellent in 1st. Mikael shd remain in the left back spot. Other than lots of running around, not much from midfield pair of Fletch and Smith. Pity Giggs had to come off early. Still in dire need of a quality midfield general to control play. Rooney had his worst game since signing for the Reds. Other than the first goal, Ruud didn't seem very much involved in the game. Ronaldo's confidence is returning more goals likely to come from him. Park was often crowded out on the left wing. Though it was a good victory, but I am sure everyone can see where the weakness is in the team. We need a confident central player to link play between defence and attack. All to often, we lost the ball in the centre and couldn't really make full use of the many breaks that came, with passes going astray. Instead of building on the lead and counter-attacking effectively when Portsmouth were attacking in 2nd half, the players just pumped the ball aimlessly upfield from defence. With speedy players like CR, Rooney, Saha and Park, they should hammered the opposition for 6 or 7. But we should celebrate a good week with Chelsea losing and Arsenal drawing. Bring on Liverpool.

Don't forget a very good performance from Vidic.

Well done, a good result after Chelsea dropped points. Ronaldo deserved an 8, hope his scoring form and technique continues to develop. LuaLua was unstoppable yet the defense held out. Credit to them. On the downside, Rooney seems less aggressive and clinical. Lastly the 2nd half is a reminder why we need a creative CM urgently. Giggs was a good stand-in but once replaced, the ball stayed mostly in our half and Fletcher kept passing the ball to the opponents.

Great first half, but why stop playing in the second half? The forwards looked as though they didn't want to play.

I think Vidic had a great game. One of our very best that night, thats for sure.

amazing result really when you consider we are playing without a central midfield. if we had two decent players in this position we would be top of league

Chelsea dont need to looose 5 they are very beatable and they like Arsenal will go out of the Champions league this round.I think we should sign Henry this summer he really is a good player.
