Rooney: Rossi a hot prospect

WAYNE Rooney reckons fellow striker Giuseppe Rossi is the most exciting young talent on the United books.

Rossi scored a hat-trick in the reserves' 5-0 demoliton of Bury on Monday night to underline his growing reputation.

The current wealth of talent at Sir Alex Ferguson's disposal has meant Rossi is restricted to the reserves at present, but Rooney, still only 19 himself, believes he has great potential.

He told The Sun: "I think he's got a great chance. He has got a great touch, and is a natural finisher."

Another young player making progress is Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who kept his scoring run going against Bury.

Why oh why are these two not being given a chance. With Ole and Saha out now is the time to give them 10 - 20 mins and break them in gradually. Realistically I can see them making an appearance in the League Cup. Please Fergie remember what happened last time we had some good youngsters, this is what the recent success has been built upon.

Not too long ago Giggsy said he thought Rossi fitted in well when he played on tour.Now Rooney is also praising Rossi.Not bad to be commended by such talented players is it? Look forward to him making the team.

Thats about the biggest hint so far that Rooney is sick of trying to make Ruud look better than he is.We all know Rossi should get a go but not with Ferguson he will stick with all his flops.

Mary, you really need to change the record sometimes. We all know you hate Ruud (scholes, keane, giggs and everyone else over 26) but whatever you say he is scoring the goals, people keep going on about him losing pace and not contributing enough to the all round game but lets be honest he never had pace and his all round game was okay but his speciality is putting the ball in the net. The fact that most of them are tap ins does not mean any player can do it as scoring tap ins is down to movement off the ball and timing, this is what players like ruud, Lineaker and Rush made there name on. Yes rossi deserves a chance in games as he does look like he is ready but that doesn't mean we have to sacrifice ruud for it and to take rooneys statement and read into it that he is slaging of ruud well maybe you should go and get a job as the sports editor at the sun.

Ruud was a two season wonder Daglish was a much better player he could turn on a sixpence. (without falling over) and volley the ball from anywhere and score.Ruud has scored a lot I agree but he is very limited in his all round play.His worl load when he first came was excellent thats why he got more goals.Now despite everything Ruud would like a move.
Now I think we have a young lad Rossi bursting at the gut to show what he can do.So let him have a go.
Ruud will be a good bench player til we sell him along with Rio.

Mary, Sale. You are a sad excuse of a United supporter. When a player is doing well, you complain, when they lose form, you complain. Ruud is top goalscorer in the league at present, and is firing on all cylinders. Soccer legends like Ronaldo da Lima of Brazil said Ruud's the best finisher and you call Ruud a flop?? Enough about "Mary for Sale" - Rossi should get chances towards end of matches, scoring top flight goals can only improve his sharpness and confidence.

I think Rossi is the reason that SAF didn't go for Owen. That's the bright side. The dark side of it is the fact that SAF used all of August to figure that one out, and when he was ready to turn his attention to Ballack and Diarra, he smashed his nose into a closed window. That explains the red one...

Give Rossi more playing time as he looks to be the real deal.Pique,martin and blake should also be given run outs, unfortunately SAF is probably waiting until we get 2/3/4 goals up, like we used to in the good old days.lets just start attacking more, the defence will come good.

When Rossi came on at the end of the Debrecin game he hardly got a touch but it was instantly obvious that he's the real deal as was the case with Park and in the same way that Fletch is not the real deal.

Not sure why I'm bothering but here goes. Mary, have you ever seen Rossi play? He's definitely talented but he's about 5 foot tall and looks 13 years old. I agree with everyone else that he should get a few minutes at the end of games to gain some first-team experience and probably start Carling Cup games (alongside a more experienced striker). But do you honestly think he should be starting every game in place of a 6-foot bruiser who is second only to the Law-man in ALL-TIME goals scored for United? And who's already scored 9 goals this season? I mean really? Do you? Or are you just a cunning wind-up merchant who's having a laugh at all of our expense?

ur gone in the head totaly mary every1 in the squad is playing ace at the mininte its jus little defencive mastakes that means we r conceding but rossi will be able to replace ruud hes mint but we need ballack to replace keen and the team is done

Woah, Mick in Dublin hang on a minute! While I do agree with you that Ruud is an awesome striker, I just have to point out that neither is he 2nd in the all-time United goals, nor that Law is 1st. Here's the actual order: 1)Charlton 249 goals, 2) Law 237, 3)Rowley 211, 4)Best & Viollet 179, 6)Spence 168, 7)Hughes 163, 8) Pearson 149, 9)Herd 145, and 10) Ruud 135. So Ruud needs 15 more goals this season to creep into 8th place. BTW figures include Charity Shield goals

will be top players
for the future in
our first team.
The future looks
awfully bright.
Just keep a positive
mind set, lay off
the boss, SAF, and
his tactics, allow
him to put the best
players on the park
regardless of formation and let
the players then do
the talking with their feet.

Ruud's scoring what more do you want from him Mary. Rossi is a top top player and a v exciting prospect but let's bring him in gradually this season so we don't knock his confidence. He should be on the bench more regularly and I'm sure next year he'll be a regular.

I think Mary's point is that Ruud, although an excellent finisher, is limited. If you watch him try to hold up the ball you will see him stripped of the ball a lot. Rooney holds the ball brilliantly. Ruud also draws a crowd whereas Henry always seems to be in space. He's a great player but I wouldn't start him every game automatically. I think Saha might be a better strike partner with Rooney pulled back into an attacking mid field role. He's the most exciting player since Gazza. Quite frankly I think Rossi is suffering because our defence is so weak, we never get a decent lead allowing Alex to play him and rest Ruud. I might also be telling Rooney and co to quit feeding Ruud with three players hanging off him. What do you say Mary?

Why aren't Fergie playing youngster with talent? Rossi definitely deserves some time on the pitch and what does it take to realize that? Scoring a hundred goal in reserves in a match? The guy scored a hat-trick, give him some time on the field for crying out loud. I'm not saying he should start but at least let the boy some playing time, it will do wonders to his confidence.

you are right he is small so he can get into places Ruud cant fit.Like Owen he is short on hieght so scoring of crosses with his head,will be a problem but his ground work is fantastic.I also for the Record think Dong will be good as well.

kenny cooper and spctor are the most likely of the reserves and loan players who should get chances in this coming year
