REDS legend Sir Bobby Charlton believes Roy Keane will decide his own future.
Republic of Ireland midfielder Keane has admitted he did not expect to be at Old Trafford next season.
And Charlton believes Keane will decide what is best for him, and whether to carry on playing elsewhere.
Charlton, playing this week in the Dunhill links championship golf in Scotland, said: "Roy is at an age where he's thinking about his future.
"If he wants to go into coaching or management or continue playing for a while then he will make up his mind himself because he's a sensible lad. He will also have talked to a lot of people."
Charlton praised Keane for the impact he has had at United.
"At Manchester United we can't say enough good things about him," said Charlton.
"He's a wonderful player and has been a great servant to the club. We hope he will be with us for a little while longer, but we must leave it to him.
"I would not insult him by not letting him make up his own mind."
Does Keane rank among the United all time greats? Have your say.

Certainly one of the best players United have had and arguably the best midfield player in the Premiership for a decade. Whilst not a harsh criticism you could argue, that to be the greatest he would have had to score more goals, like say Duncan Edwards or Brian Robson. Nevertheless all true United fans know there are few players good enough to fill his boots.
Keane IS the all time great.
Simple.
1 x Champions L.
7 x Premierships
4 x F.A Cups
1x World C/C
Keane is in the same breath as Charlton and Edwards.
