Johnson joins Crewe

REDS starlet Eddie Johnson has gone on loan to further his football education under Dario Gradi at Crewe Alexandra.

The 20-year-old striker has joined the Alex until Christmas to gain more first-team experience under a manager renowned for bringing on young players, having already undertaken a loan spell at Coventry City last season.

Johnson has played for United’s first-team before in the Carling Cup but like many promising United youngsters, competing with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy, finds himself well down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

If he has the potential Dario Gradi will bring it out, he's excellent at bringing on young players. Now one of the reserve teams has gone, I'd give more of our youngsters to him to develop and bring on.

Quit Old Trafford while you are ahead, mate - there's little to no room for you there!

There's always room for a quality striker like Eddie. He was outstanding in Antwerp, as any of their fans will tell you. Scored plenty of goals. He was excellent for Coventry in the first 5-10 games b4 he got injured. I've always rated this lad as have some of the first team players. Looks unlikely that he'll make it at the mo but a couple of seasons out on loan and u'd never know. Couldn't have gone 2 a better manager for his development and sud be a great replacement for badly missed Ashton.
