United reserves lift title

MANCHESTER United were crowned Barclays Premiership Reserve League North champions at Old Trafford last night after a 3-0 victory over Wolves.

United, with a far superior goal difference to second-placed Manchester City, approached the game knowing that a win would almost certainly be enough to seal the title. But, even that proved academic with the Blues going down 3-1at Nottingham Forest.

United got off to a great start with David Bellion racing through to score with a low shot after David Jones' pass had split the Wolves defence.

Jones, the Reds' skipper, scored the second goal himself with a cheeky shot from the tightest of angles.

Paul McShane, Colin Heath and Giuseppe Rossi all went within inches of adding to United's tally before the interval.

Bellion grabbed his second goal of the game, in the 58th minute, with another terrific finish.

UNITED: Heaton, Picken, Lawrence, Evans J. (Bardsley, 46), McShane, Miller (Fox, 60), Bellion, Jones D., Heath, Rossi, Martin (Marsh, 67).

Subs not used: Lee, Jones R.

Which of these United youngster can make the step up to first-team level? Have your say.

D.Jones, Rossi, Spector and Pique seems all to be ready to get promoted to the first team, and R.Jones, McShane, Martin, Ebanks-Blake and N'galua also seems to got what it takes, but I think they need another year in the reserves, or hopefully they will be loaned out to another Premiershipteam.

The reserves doing well is always welcome news but as we know it's no guarantee that anyone will get into the 1st team. Always good to have good finishers like Bellion and Rossi in reserve.

Funny that a lot of City fans were on here last week stating that we have no talent in our accademys yet both our reserve teams have won their leagues. Shows that City dont have better talent in reserve just little talent in the first team. As for our youngsters I tip both Rossi and Martin to go all the way both look real top class then their is Jones Spectre Pique etc who could make it if they keep improving. I expect to see a little of Rossi and Martin in the first team next year.

The main thing now is to work out how much we could have for the sale of Saha. Thus, we could free 1 place for Rossi in the 1st team and used Lee Martin as an option for Giggs and Solkjaer. The summer will only need a central midfield like Ballack and a top class keeper.

it's all about phil bardsley, class player, i think he is under-rated to say the least. local lad, with a lot of talent and it shouldn't go to waste
