Nemanja Vidic tells City: We will keep on winning the trophies

Nemanja Vidic with the Premier League trophy
Nemanja Vidic insists United don’t fear City and believes the Reds are the only team in Manchester who will win trophies year after year.

The Old Trafford skipper, who is recovering from knee surgery which will rule him out for the rest of the season, believes Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have the right mix of youth and experience to win the Premier League title ahead of the Blues.

And he believes United will only improve knowing they are battling with their rivals for silverware.

“If you look at our history and commitment, you know we like to win all trophies and I believe we are the team in Manchester who will keep doing that every year,” Vidic told M.E.N. Sport.

“Of course we are confident. We are challenging for the title and we are only three points behind City.

“We have had problems with injuries but I think against Arsenal this weekend we have a good chance. We have a few players back which will help the manager. We have a good squad – a good balance between experience and youth.

“It’s good for the city to have two football teams doing well – there’s a lot of talk and banter. It’s always healthy to have competition and we don’t mind it. It helps to improve ourselves.”

There were fears Vidic would face up to a year on the sidelines after sustaining his horrendous cruciate knee ligament injury during United’s defeat to Basel in the Champions League in December.

But he revealed he had surgery last month – and is confident he will be playing again by the start of the new campaign.

“Everything is going well,” he said. “I had my operation three weeks ago, it’s progressing in the right way. I still have a long way to go but I will be patient. I have motivation to work hard and I want to be back as soon as possible.

“I want to be fit and at the same level I was at before the injury. That will push me to work hard. There is no timescale for my return. It’s not about targeting a date but I hope I will be right for the start of the season.”

Good luck with the recuperation Nemanja, looking forward to your return.

You keep talking Vidic and we'll keep laughing. How is the treatment table? You should be careful, if you don't get fit soon, Fergie will be asking steve Bruce to replace you in the team (he's available for selection these days!)

Worried and just a little obsessed about City then, lads? Not much!

We've got Shrek tweeting childish nonsense on his mum's I-pad about "Manchini" during the match, and now glass-back Vidic nervously reassuring himself that his team are going to be the only team in Manchester winning anything.

Keep it up.

This must be great motivation for Bosnian Dzeko and Montenegran Savic for some big bully boy Serb to tell them they are going to win nowt this year. Shame he 'won't be playing at the Etihad in April. One to pin up behind the changing room door at Carrington (blue one)

First Evra and now Vidic in one week. They just can't stop talking or thinking about City can they.............

A bit of spin in the headline here for what is fairly run of the mill stuff.

Why no comment on the contract discussions that are clearly kicking off? Welbeck, Miorrison, Pogba, what is going on? Why not try to find out what some of the younger players thing of the current first team selection decisions, is the MEN the only one in the dark on the issues going on at the club?
ent here...

We are certainly certainly 'closing the gap' on Barcelona aren't we Vidic? or is it Crystal Palace?

Lets hope so Paying Rooney 250 grand was madness,it has upset the whole pay struture at United.
Welbeck contract talks are on hold,United have offered him 45.000 he wants 60.000 and he must think he is worth 190.000 less than Rooney Morrison and all the players will expect to be paid well.

Spurs will not go back from Manchester empty-handed . However United need to beat Arsenal later on Sunday .

I do wonder about these highly paid but absolutely stupid players. Even most United fans must admit that both the Blue and Red half of Manchester will be picking up trophies.
What is he 27 - 28 years old with a now knackered knee, will never be the player he was. Funds for his replacement also required.

Yeah whatever.

Why UEFA's team of the year voting proves United are falling further behind Barca not catching them up way behind them every time I see Pique I think what a fool Fergie really is.

Amen to that Nemanja! We are Man United, and we'll never die!!

And on the topic of ABU's writing us off....

The PERFECT example of us shunning our critics, and triumphing against odds, was simply last season. THE PERFECT EXAMPLE. All of last season, many of the very very bitter ABU's/ berties ( either one or maybe both) were criticizing us last season, saying our midfield was rubbish, our oldies are rubbish, we play rubbish football, we're heading for decline, we're heading for 5th place, we weren't going to win any silverware....

And of course, the rest is all history. ( 19 times that must hurt bitters!!!)

You know... those idiots.. A plank and blue, fred the bitter, ted the big bitter, skint member but not in debt, jerseyblue, dr mick, and all those bitter, twisted and envious bitter plums. Oh and of course Danny......

Last season we were meant to be in decline and in 5th place. What happened in the end?

'Nuff said you hating bitters!

And I have a very strong feeling history will repeat itself! Beware ABU's, we will stuff your words into your mouths this season, we'll shut you up for the second time in two years!!
We're man united and we'll never die, we will continue winning trophies year after year!
Let's make it no.20 lads!
Oh and nemanja, good luck with your recovery, hope you might just appear at the end of the season! You are a great professional, please get better and come back fit and strong!

proud to be a rag, united til i die

Oh how life must be so frustrating for our Serbian Warrior at the moment! I can just see him now; snarling and baring his teeth, and pounding one fist into the palm of his other hand! Be patient, our kid, your time will come when we once more can see you prowling around our pitch, bellowing instructions and encouragement to your fellow players. Believe me, there is not one single United fan who also can’t wait for your return!

In the meantime, I am pleased to hear of Nemanja’s rallying call to the remaining United troops. Heed his words everyone, not just his teammates, but EVERYBODY associated with our Club – and that includes ALL United supporters! HE certainly believes that we will triumph this season, and I dare any of our consistent doubters to approach him and tell him to his face that we have NO chance!

First things first, Bring on the Arsenal!!!

United ‘til I die!

Just like the FA Cup last season, you mean.....

Right so let me see if i could clarify this.
Vidic is talking about winning trophy's this season and seen as most of the red's on this site think the CC,E.L and F.A cups are tinpot and not worth winning, does that mean to most reds that if you don't win the Premiership, this season will be a failure?
Let's see how you celebrate if the only trophy you win is the F.A cup or the E.L. :)

Who's turn will it be next to have a 'dig' at City from Man United? how much more tedious can these idiots become? they seem to have this mentality where they always have to be better than City at this at that, higher in the league, winning more trophies etc etc etc
Ok over the last 20 years this has been the case but can these morons lay off City and accept that it is our turn now. I dont suppose they can do this because of their childish selfish mentality and this is why they are resented so much not just here in Manchester but all over Great Britain too.
I would also like to ask Vidic on how he can guarantee that United will win more things than City year after year? Of course he cant especially with the great team City have now and the infastructure they have in place but again its typical of their mentality they al are at Old Trafford a bunch of inbreds and thats is the bottom line.

Having read all the posts up to this point in time, I was surprised how many of the early posts were by the envious bunch from Manchester, poor Bitter Berties obsessed as usual with what is happening at our great club.

Is it not amazing that a team full of geriatrics and unproven youngsters is only three points behind such a marvellous team full of international superstars or is that international mercenaries which ever it is they have been blowing their trumpets very loudly since October, whilst we quietly get on with our job and look forward to May and the 38th game when the Premier League Champions will be crowned and I wouldn’t bet against it being Manchester United for a record 20th time.

He came from Serbia, he’ll ******* murder ya, Nemanja………..

Glory Glory Man United………….

I wouldn't say that to loud Nemanja. We don't want to make them angry and that lot who are all from Stockport beat us 6-1 again. These type of comments make me think we're really worried about the berties! We should just go about our business quietly and try and finish in the top half and give the squad the overhaul it needs next season!

Nemanja is the spokesperson for every Red in the land, we've been here before, written off, going broke, bribing officials,(all unfounded of course ) we've heard it all, yet still the Red flag is flying high,

Vidic was in the FIFA world team of the year and rightly so.

Not sure if any City players were even on the bench, if so they probably would have refused to come on.
