Manchester United star Phil Jones should be fit to face Wigan on Boxing Day after X-rays revealed he had not fracutured his cheek bone against Fulham.
Jones was forced to leave the field after 20 minutes after he clashed with Clint Dempsey and manager Ferguson revealed afterwards he feared the young England international faced a spell on the sidelines.
"Phil Jones should be okay for Monday," Ferguson said. "We feared the worst but there is no break."

Great news but most of us new that anyway West Brom could easy do one over City Hodgson is very shrewd and City will all still be drunk
Finally some GOOD news injury-wise! Fingers crossed the worst is over! Jones is playing superbly, and is already a vital player for us, not just with his versatility, but also with his sheer quality.
Paul, Whally Range
Great news about a great player!
The boy is made of sterner stuff than the average player. A legend in the making.
Terrific news, love watching this player and we do need him fit, with all of the other injuries. If Rio's fit as well, Smalling will be right back again, allowing Valencia to play on the right wing and giving us that good balance.
Phew!!!
This may be my last chance to do this before Xmas due to family commitments.
I wish all my fellow Reds a very Merry Xmas and a Happy and prosperous (more trophies please) New Year.
Yes......even Danny.
best news in weeks
not the greatest player in the world ( YET)
but boy is it GREAT watching this kid
I am absolutely delighted about this excellent news! Now "Let's Get Stuck In Lads"!
BTW, on a personal note, my delight is slightly scuppered by the fact that I will miss my first home game of the season. I will be away for the Christmas period, and not returning until the Blackburn match. My missus has banned me from going anywhere near a computer or television, so I can only rely on newspapers for news of my beloved Reds, and also text messages from the younger members of my family. Can't have it ALL my own way she says! : - (
Merry Xmas to EVERY football fan on this Forum, yes, including City followers!
United 'til I die!
No more injuries please!!!!
It's just like having a new signing with this boy coming back from injury.
Good news. He's a good player who really enlivens our team.
Not unlike SOME Bitters say........
"he's overrated and would not get into city's bench"
"he's a mercenary"
"16.5 for a piece of overrated tosh"
Bitters he is one hell of a player.
:)
Merry Christmas and happy 2012 to reds and berties.
Fast becoming the fans favourite player, you can see why, Jones would run through a brick wall to help the cause. Merry Christmas one & all xx
Love it, Phil Jones is a beast and his gung ho style of play in the midfield has for me inspired all the players around him. With him in the team, everyone, seems to be willing to work harder when not in possession. Michael Carrick has looked like a new player, playing alongside him and against Fulham I thought Valencia looked like a player on speed, with his work rate.
Phil leads by example and since he's moved into midfield, we've looked a completely different side. I personally think he's become one of, if not the, most important player in our squad, which is amazing for such a young lad who's only been around for such a short time.
excellent news makes me very happy. this kid brings so much energy and drive to the team it makes me wanna cry. just love to see his name on the team sheet
Yes, yes, yes...
Don't rush him into action though. Two easy games ahead...
Have to hold my hands up. Amidst all the doom and gloom didn't Doctor Danny tell us that Jones would be ft for the next game.
He's a miracle man (Doctor D) and I would suggest that they let him out of his padded cell and send him to United's training ground to do his "laying of the hands' on all United's injured. He's be that busy with all the injuries that they have that he'd have no time to bug everyone on this site. That way everyone wins.
Merry Christmas Doctor D and others.
Great news! Maybe we can see a Jones / Cleverley pairing in midfield.
This guy has really surprised me thought it would take him time to bedin looks like he has been here for years and only 19 years of age its quite incredible I believe the cliche of the sky is the limit really does apply here, the team has responded very well to going out of Europe had a good run of fixture must be said but looking really impressive, hope it continues and hope we get some players backfit and healthy
I'm amazed at how quickly Jones is improving, and even more so at how much he's improved playing the middle. He's going to be unbelievably good isn't he!
Right then, off for a few end of work tipples... it's at times like this, that I wish the fishman still frequented the local - its just not the same when I take my own cockles with me...!
Anyway, Merry Christmas to you and yours, red and blue alike.
Another shocking challenge goes unnoticed by the ref. United always have to win it the hard way.
Great news ! I said we would'nt win anything this year but come on you reds make me eat my words.Merry Xmas an a very Happy and Healthy New Year to all the red and blue fans!!
Let's not get carried away (again!!). Before he's appointed Pope let's see some consistent performances against some better teams.
He's got unlimited potential, but that's what it is at the moment ...potential. Without Carrick to steady things down, cover when he's out of position (fairly often at the moment) and just generally be in the right place I suspect that there would be a lot of criticism for the things he's not good at yet.
Not knocking him at all. I said months ago that he has the attributes to be a really good midfielder but he's not there yet. keep playing him alongside Carrick and he'll quickly get there; play him alongside Cleverly, who is also learning, and I would expect his inexperience to show with the consequent impatient criticisms.
I'm not the greatest fan of SAF's selections at times but this one is just right - Jones and Carrick. Just give him time before the over the top accolades.
One day soon Jones will be wearing the Captain's armband of the Red Devils as SAF saw something in this kid that will serve well for years to come for both club and country.
Our lad is made of steel. I expect him to be captaining our side within the next 3 years.
