The £16.5m newcomer from Aston Villa has pinpointed United’s substitute line up against Arsenal as evidence the Champions can retain the Premier League crown.
The club’s most successful player Ryan Giggs, £30m England defender Rio Ferdinand, last season’s second top scorer Chicharito, the Reds’ £30.75m record buy and number one striker last term Dimitar Berbatov were among those who didn’t make Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting XI against the Gunners and had to settle for seats on the bench.
“The strength of our squad is the difference,” says Young.
“Look at our bench, and even people who didn't make it or are injured, Vida, Carrick, just to name a few. The squad the manager has built is terrific.
“There is competition for places and you have to be on your toes.
“I haven't experienced anything like that against Arsenal. We went about our job from the first minute to the last. We were terrific. We played an Arsenal team that weren't so good on the day and we have punished them.”
Young punished them with two goals, though he is unlikely to be credited with his West Brom deflection on the opening day, he is anticipating more goals than last season’s tally of nine with Villa.
“We create more chances here,” Ashley added.
“You see the way we went forward. We are always looking to go forward at pace. We are always looking to create chances. We were terrific against Arsenal from the goalkeeper to the forwards. Hopefully we can continue that form and take it all the way through to the end of the season.”
The 8-2 demolition of the Gunners saw United edge ahead of City at the top of the Premier League by a single goal.
But Young insists the Reds won’t be distracted by the Blues and the title fever already building in Manchester.
“We won't worry about City too much. We will concentrate on ourselves. That is exactly what we will do from now until the end of the season. We look good at the minute and hopefully we can build on it.”
Should Ferguson rotate his squad or keep faith with the youngsters? Have your say. Tweet

Too early yet to mention titles and although we were magnificent nothing is won in August. We also have to admit that city look good and Nasri is a great addition to their team so they will be our main rivals, but I still think we have the flair and experience to compete with anyone in any competition including Barca.
Sir Alex is the real difference and long may he reign and although I am a rabid red we all have to admit that the derbies are going to be incredible, two top teams clashing in Manchester. This will become the biggest game in the UK and dare I say it, close to the 'el classico'. I bet the audiance for the derby is not surpassed by anyone in terms of global viewing figures, so roll on and 'come on the reds'.
Well said Ashley, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, whoever! We just need to do our job and the League is ours to lose. I'm looking forward to clocking up title number 20. Glory Glory Man United as the Reds go marching on, on , on...............
From me, a very simple answer to the questioned that is posed: I COMPLETELY trust SAF to do what he believes is the correct thing for Manchester United! I never have done, and I never WILL, lose faith in our great manager.
United 'til I die!
This united side is simply unbelieveable, young, deadly, lethal, unplayable, brilliant, invincible,
Barcelona, Man City, Tottenham, Arsenal- mauled all of them, when Utd get going, the opps simply get outplayed.
4 fantastic displays against 3 massive clubs (barca, spurs and arsenal), and a self-dubbed one in city since the july 30th, averaged a team age of 22-3 against all 4 and ripped them apart with incredible ease....the future is red....the title is United's....
Play this youthful Utd side all season and we will walk our way to title 20.
Who needs sneijder, got (superstar) Cleverley.
Ashley will learn that, at United, we do our talking on the pitch. It's far too early to be talking about titles, cups etc. The signs are good, we have a good squad, the youngsters coming through are eager to please/learn and we have the experieince of having been there/seen it/done it. Let's wait a bit before we get carried away!!
I hope the fans who knocked the signing of Young are now eating their words - you know who you are!!!!
Sir Alex has assembled an amazing squad that will win a 20th League Title and can win the Champions Lge. The players here are unbelieveable and when we get going no-one can stop us, we are simply unplayable when we want to be. I keep hearing this rubbish on Snijder, we dont need him, we have Tom Cleverley and as for the russians thinking they could land Vidic for a pathetic £25m - he's not for sale, he doesnt want to leave and he is worth a hell of a lot more than £125m, he is worth £100m and not for sale...Vidic is going no where. The future belongs to Manchester United.
I'm a Utd fan since 1977... Utd look fantastically promising and will continue to get better, but, and I hate to say this folks, but Citeh in a canter for mine this season. Hope I'm wrong.
Slow down there Tiger... I can appreciate the enthusiasm but lets temper that with a dose of realism. Great results against an Arsenal side, which to be frank, my Sunday team would have stood a chance against. We played an under strength Spurs and we just about managed to beat WBA. Let's see how we match up against Chelski and the likes of City who are now starting to look like all those millions are starting to finally yield something worth considering.
This is going to be a long season and having the likes of Carrick on the bench does not inspire me with confidence. We should have invested in at least two more players in midfield. Cleverly is not there yet and nor is Anderson. We still lack creativity and steel and sides with much more cohesion in midfield are going to really test the "we don't need to buy" mantra coming out of Old Trafford.
I don't blame him for getting giddy after that performance and scoreline. And his contribution was a big one with two fantastically struck goals.
For me he has been a fantastic signing, and the best one of the Summer although De Gea is shaping nicely and Jones is showing great potential for a player so young.
His movement has been fantastic and his link up play has really fired up Rooney, Cleverly and Welbeck this season. And I love the way he just gets up despite being on the receiving end of some crunching tackles. Hope referees defend him a little better than Webb did. So good start - hope he continues his great early form.
the start of the season iz going well bt it too early to talk abt winning title its a long way to go with many difficult matches in Epl and ucl so may be hard for this young squad bt i am sure we have gud future.
Yes our boss is focusing on our youngerstars which is the future of manchester united
I'd like to take a mintue to put an end to this claim that Arsenal fielded a reserve squad, a squad full of kids if you will.
Szczesny - 21 y/o - he has played now 30 games for Arsenalas well as 5 for Poland and 28 for Brentford, he is the Arsenal #1 so I can say for sure this was not a weaken GK but he is rubbish.
Jenkinson - 19y/o - doesnt really count as is a summer signing after laying for Charlton, was his 4th game for Arsenal.
Koscielny - 25 y/o - joined the Gunners a year ago as has featurednow 46 times but has 6 years fom fotoball before Arsenal where he played more than 150 games
Traore - 21y/o - Now at QPR after joining a day after our 8-2 win. had loan spells at Pompey and juve comnig to 40 games, he played 32 times for Arsenal and even one International cap.
Rosicky - 30 y/o - has 8 years experince before Arsenal with more than 200 games, been at the Gunners for 5 years with over 130 games to his name. Another International player with 81 caps and has played more than 400 games in total.
Coquelin - 20 y/o - Another of the kids at the Gunners, he went on loan the other year like all the kids of Arsenal does no matter the myth they dont go out on loans, they do. He had 25 games on loan and has played 5 times for the Gunners.
Chamberlain - 18 y/o - The expensive purchase from Southampton didnt make his debut for 5 game and whwen he finally did he did nothing to help Arsenal in our easy victory. He played 43 times for Soton before his £15m move to Arsenal this summer.
Ramsey - 20 y/o - A kid we nearly bought, thankfully we didnt. With his spells at Cardiff he played 28 times, 5 games for Forest and in his 3 years with the the Gunners he has played 63 times. He is even an International player somehow with 15 caps.
Walcott - 22 y/o - Has been at Arsenal since 2006 and has played in nearly 200 games now for the Gunners and is an England international with 17 caps and even played 23 times for Southampton.
Lansbury - 20 y/o - One of Arsenal's kids, he has had plenty of loan experience over the last 3 yearswith 78 games, he has played just 8 times for Arsenal to date
Arshavin - 30 y/o - has 9 years of expericne before the gunners with over 300 games, he has played for Arsenal now for over 2 years with more than 100 games and another who plays for his country with over 60 caps.
Van Persie - 28 y/o - Arsenal's one remaining world class talent has been at the club for 7 years and has more than 230 games under his belt aswell as 3 years before that in Holland and he has represented his country 56 times.Played in more than 300 games at pro level.
Chamakh - 27 y/o - Played in France for 7 years before Arsenal with 301 games. He has featured in 46 matches in London and even 57 International caps.
Several of the players might be young but they have experience andmore than half the players on the pitch are first team players at Arsenal with plenty of games to thier names. To my calculation the squad that played had more than 2600 games between them and over 1000 at Arsenal. The myth that Wenger doesnt loan his kids out but bloods them straight into the squad is rubbish, nearly every single kid at Arsenal has been on loan at some point in the past or present.
Yes there was no Fabregas, Nasri, Wilshere, Gibbs, Bendtner, Diaby, Vermaelen, Song, Gervinho, Clichy, Sagna but these players has played agaisnt us in the past and remember, we went like 10 games straightnot losing to Arsenal with these players on the pitch, fact that they was injured, suspended or sold did not have an affect on the outcome of the game. FAct is they only won in May because we had a horrible game. we was missing players aswell with Van Der Sar and Scholes retired, Berbatov, Carrick on the bench, Vidic, Ferdinand and Valencia injured, Fletcher still out, Giggs and Park didnt feature until past the hour. We played De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Nani, Cleverley, Anderson, Young, Rooney, Welbeck, Chicharito, Giggs, Park in the game, a young squad we had with a starting age of just 23.
Fact is we are better than Arsenal, we have a better youth setup than Arsenal, we have better players than Arsenal and we have a far better manager than Arsenal. They can use as many excuses as they like, they dont work when you look at the facts.
Cautionary statement - "Title(s) are NOT won in August. Nuf said." This applies to the blue and red side of Manchester. Yes, both teams has been busted out of the title race gate in such a flying form. Lets enjoy it and not let go to our heads.
The real question is who will finish runner up
Chelski,The project or Kenny and the Hasbeens
Phil Jones will be the young player of the year if he becomes a regular that much i do know!
