Manchester United ace Danny Welbeck can profit from Community spirit

Danny Welbeck

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is hoping the Reds' slick Community Shield will be a taste of things to come this season at Old Trafford.

United's quick passing game and energy were too much for Manchester City, with Welbeck showing clear signs of progress after his return from a loan spell at Sunderland.

Welbeck will battle Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov for a spot alongside Wayne Rooney and did his chances the power of good on Sunday.

He said: “My main aim is breaking into the team and getting minutes on the pitch,” said Welbeck. “Hopefully if I keep performing well the manager will keep picking me.

“I’m feeling confident and I go into every game trying to play the best I can to get into the team.

“I need to play more games and get a partnership going with whoever is up-front and get minutes on the pitch.”

And Welbeck has warned the rest of the Premier League that there is more to come from the reigning champions.

“We went out and attacked them with purpose,” he said. “There were a lot of positives going forward. The second goal showed the quality we’ve got up top and Nani put it away perfectly.

“Hopefully, that’s what you can expect from us this season. That’s how we’d like to play.

“The history of United is to never say die and we proved that again.”

Where is Welbeck in the Manchester United pecking order? Have your say.

Welbeck will battle Rooney/Berbatov for a spot along side Javier 'Chichairto' Hernandez, the best striker in the world.

Cant wait to see Cleverley in the side with Chicharito, the 2 together will crush everyone, we are the team to beat as usual and as usual we are unbeatable, welcome to a new era here at Manchester United.

As one who slag Welbek off "never make a united player" i bow to Fergie,s judgement of Welbek he,s comeback from Sunderland a totally different player
in stature he looks like he,s bulk up and put on weight. His movement as changed
he no longer runs like Bambi,he runs like an athelete now and looks like and athelete too. I for one am prepared to say i was wrong. Well done Welbeck carry on the good
work.

FOREVER IN OUR SHADOW

Always nice to see a local/Lancashire lad make his mark with the Champions,as we lose Our Paul,Nev and Wes..we now have Danny and Tom to take their place.
They are the latest in a long line of lads who have come through the youth team and play at the highest level.
A tradition which will long continue.

This is the usual MEN local player bias. Welbeck is a HUGE TALENT, but he is nowhere close to Rooney, Chicharito, or Berba yet. He needs playing time so he needs to go on loan or he needs to take up Owen's playing time.
