United boss Sir Alex Ferguson refused to speak to any media before or after the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool along with club officials and players.
Ferguson cancelled his pre-match briefing on Friday in protest at the coverage given to his post-match quotes at Chelsea on Tuesday that have landed him with an improper conduct charge, plus the furore that surrounded Wayne Rooney's elbowing of Wigan's James McCarthy last weekend.
In a pre-planned move, United also blanked the media today.
Ferguson did not speak to host broadcaster Sky Sports, either before or after his side's third Premier League defeat of the season.
His assistant Mike Phelan did not carry out his usual post-match engagements with the BBC, arranged due to Ferguson's long-standing feud with the organisation.
Radio rights holders talkSPORT were also left without any comment from the visitors.
Should any of these organisations complain to the Premier League, the governing body will be forced to act, escalating the problem between Ferguson and the BBC, with the fines for his non-compliance still waiting to be made public.
For the first time, even United's own television channel, MUTV, left a senior game without any reaction, which is an embarrassing situation in itself.
It is not yet known whether the media blackout will continue this week, ahead of United's FA Cup quarter-final with Arsenal, although discussions are bound to take place behind the scenes.
The only comments came via a club spokesman, who confirmed Nani will be assessed tomorrow before the extent is known, and Rio Ferdinand, who was not even at Anfield, but offered an opinion via Twitter.
"Bad result today no excuses," stated the England skipper.

well done fergie nothing to say to those media haters they can all kiss my axxxxs
Typical cry baby ferguson......He is pathetic
He is a very very bitter old man.
It has been long, long coming. When we were playing poor, mediocre football for most of the season, but were at the top of the league, those United fans living in coockooland thought those of us who questioned the qualities and potential of this squad were scaremongers. Well, our luck has finally ran out. Worse, will probably follow and we will be paid our dues: no trophy at the end of the season.. Other clubs buy Suarez, Torres, Carrol, et al, we buy Bebe, Obertan, Diouf, extend the contracts of Scholes, Giggs, and pretend that Fletcher and Carrick are exceptional players. Well we are beginning to reap what we have sown. Of course the buck stops with the manager and he has to take the blame for failing to buy decent players since Ronaldo moved to Spain (with the probable exception of two young lads who show potential, namely Smalling and Hernandez). Bringing into the club youngsters is important but on its own it is a policy bound to lead to disaster. Let us now see how we pick up the pieces before the next major challenge against Arsenal. Lose that one too and we are out of the FA Cup. Fergie and the Glazers have had their day. Time for a new manager, new owners and new players. May i be proved wrong but worse, much worse will follow before this miserable season of ours is to come to a close.
Very sad indeed, this coming from a red.
It's understandable, but the fact is we all hurt really...
We're well beaten by Liverpool. Our midfield couldn't control the game. Giggs and Scholes have passed their best and shouldn't start together. Carrick is poor again and he's simply not good enough for Man.United anymore. Our mideld have no pace, no penetration, no imagination, and above all NO QUALITY.... On top of that, we also lost Nani and Carragher should be red carded.
Now, everybody will feel that 80 million is cheap compared to the presence of C.Ronaldo. Since he left, apart from Nani, no one can efficiently bring the ball forward with pace, skillful, and effectiveness. There is no player can take a good free-kick anymore. And if we continue to bring in poor quality players like Obertan, Bebe, Tosic, M.Diouf, etc. while City, Tottenham, and LIverpool keep improving, plus Chelsea and Arsenal, next season, we may find it hard to get into the top 4
Success always breeds envy, especially in those who aspire to take United's place at the top of English football's food chain. Having at times mixed with many newspaper & TV reporters who cover United, it's an unspoken fact of life that most journalists are not United fans. One particular commentator, then on commercial radio, now a mainstay of the BBC (you can figure out who it is, I'm sure, if you're sufficiently interested) was always very vocal about how much it irritated him having to "trail up the M6" as he put it from his south coast base to cover United games. If you were to do a straw poll of the 'fan' preferences of most football writers/broadcasters, I suspect that West Ham, Spurs and Arsenal would come top of the list.
So, I think we can be sure that there is a pronounced London bias among journalists as a whole and we know that there are embedded factions of anti-United pundits on 'Match of the Day', on Five Live and on Sky, most favouring Liverpool, Newcastle or Arsenal.
However, none of this should disguise the fact that our manager does neither himself or the club any favours by adopting such a confrontational and acerbic attitude to the media. Let's face it; no-one is interested in seeing Mike Phelan trot out his views for the BBC nor in the latest toys-out-of-the-pram 'media blackout'.
We might all love Fergie but we have to accept that the fans of most other clubs loathe him. Most journalists do, as well. By refusing to face the cameras he just enhances our reputation for arrogance and whilst he can clearly do pretty much what he wants at United these days (like giving new contracts to the likes of Carrick & Fletcher) I honestly believe that Gill or one of the corporate suits should point out to His Nibs that as an employee of the club he has an obligation to speak to the media if the club deem that to be the correct course of action - which they should. As for not speaking to MUTV, that's just an embarrassment for both the channel and the club.
Almost as embarrassing as today's Anfield no-show......
And you lot call us BITTER!!! Well we're nowhere near as bitter as you lot!!!
Nice One Sir Alex, with you all the way.
U.T.I.D.
maybe its time fergie realised its time to hand over the managers job younger man(mourinho or guardiola) everything in life has a sell by date.why do some think fergies any different?
He kows there's NOTHING he could say to defend such a rubbish performance apart from saying HEADS WILL ROLL starting with HIS.
Who cares ?
Stupid anyway that you have to speak to the press, Sky have too much power, if they are going to spin everything you say then it is better not to say anything.
Fergie is right strange how Dalglish does not want to talk about Carragher the Hypocrit has been talking all week about Rooney!
I find this behaviour very childish, and were it say form someone like Ian Holloway I'm sure you would see the FA / Premier League act immediately to punish them. It does seem that Fergie has a special set of rules applied to him. As for those who would say, "well every time he comments he gets in trouble" etc, he chooses to say inflammatory / accusing things. He can question a refs decision without suggesting he is biased or bent etc, and much like that giant pain in the arse-nal old woman Wenger, he never seems to accept when things have gone his way (e.g. rooney's elbow), rather complaining all the more about red cards that weren't (e.g. versus chelsea - he had a point there, but because of these previous shenanigans no one will feel any sympathy). It's one of the many reasons I prefer the way players, captains, management and refs all interact and seem to respect each other in the 6 Nations rugby.
Quite right too, if you are not allowed to speak your mind without the press and FA climbing all over you say nothing. Hope Nani is ok.
Smacked A**e !!!!
There is just nothing to say...............why force the managers to talk. We are keeping mum. Maybe we should send T&C and gloss over everything for us huh?
What a mardy dictator, full of ego ! - Do it my way and only say good things about me or I will ex-communicate you and the usual red knees brown noses will follow: Allardyc, Moyes, etc, etc........Little mafia who want it all their own way - its just not on, you cant have it both ways, can you ????
Out, Dummy, Spit
rearrange the above words to make a well known phrase, very apt for Sir Beetroot Schnozzle
Hes now become a complete embarrassment to the club, he has always been selfish, ignorant and has no class but hes like a big baby, lost two games so hes sulking. You can take the man out of the Gorbals but you cant take the Gorbals out of the man, like I say NO CLASS, and oh hes a Knight?
You know this is the same Liverpool thats been crap all season that beat United!
Who can blame him, when he gets attacked from all sides for being honest? I am sure he was extremely angry about the defeat today, but even more so for the fact that Carragher commited a dreadful, potentially career-ending, foul on Nani that ended one of our best player's involvement in the game yet saw Carragher stay on the pitch with just a yellow. Maxi's thigh-high challenge on Rafael just before half time was almost as bad.
If he's not going to be able to say what he thinks without facing another FA charge, it's best he doesn't comment at all.
Screw the Premier League. It is clear now that opposing teams are free to commit horrendous challenges on our players and the worst they can expect is a yellow card. Luiz against Chelsea and Carraghers over the ball on Evra today for which he should have been sent off. Looks like the refs are letting fouls take place against us and not punish them in revenge for Fergies attacks on Atkinson. Van Der Sar got a card for coming out of his goal to protest. Reina did it twice and got nothing.
Cant support him on this one. Its making Utd a laughing stock. Didnt he say a few years ago things average out over a season? Maybe he said what he said about Martin Atkinson it to hide the deficiencies on the pitch by his players. We have had the rub of the green a lot this year as well. Neville, Vidic, Rooney have all been culpable of things at times.
well, we all know who the real bitters are. 11 League tittles aint no joke!
