There had been some speculation that the 30-year-old midfielder might not make the pool of United players after waging so many injury battles.
Hargreaves fought a two-year plus fight against knee tendinitis but when he made his long awaited comeback against Wolves in November he lasted less than five minutes before suffering a hamstring injury.
He went to Munich to have the problem treated and is now back at United's Carrington training ground but he has yet to be involved again in a senior squad.
But being named in Fergie's squad is at least a positive for Hargreaves.

Fabulous news. I posted elsewhere that if his tendinitis is cured, as seems to be the case, there's no reason why he won't be back soon - he was apparently looking really good in training before he pulled his hamstring.

Neville should of been omitted. Obertan will be gone in the summer. Bebe will be given another year so Fergie doesnt lose face. Would of loved to see Cleverley back here and given a chance.
Why does Fergie persist on signing complete rubbish such as Obertan and Bebe? Is Hargreaves inclusion to try and save face? Who is he trying to fool with this nonsense? Hoping that Anderson and Carrick will be shown the door at the end of the season also, we are going to need a massive injection of cash to rebuild this squad.
I think they are exempt because of their age, same reason you don't see Smalling or the twins listed in the squad.

The Rules are quite clear, if you are u21 you then you do not need to be in the 25 man squad. A non story this really, why would you not have 25 players. Hargreaves would only be in doubt if utd had signed another over 21yr old.

Actually it's a 20-man squad because Neville, Gibson,Evans, O'Shea,and Hargreaves are all non-league quality palyers, if one can call them players that is. Good luck to us, the Utd fans who cringe everytime one or occasionally more of these names appear on the team sheet.
This is no big deal. United have registered all of their players over the age of 21, so Hargreaves does not take anybody's place in the squad. Alle the u-21's can play anyway.
Why leave him out of the squad just to have a empty space on the list, at least now he has a tiny chance of returning.

You don't have to register under 21's in the 25 man squad. So Smalling, Bebe, Da Silva twins, Obertan.

@Mike, Denver - 5 points clear in the EPL, in the Knockout stages UCL and in the last 16 of The FA Cup and u think we need to rebuild the squad??? What planet do u live on? A few minor changes is needed!
