Ferguson to send Macheda on loan

Federico Macheda

After watching Danny Welbeck's loan move to Sunderland propel him towards what Sir Alex Ferguson expects to be an England call-up next year, the Manchester United boss has decided to release Federico Macheda for the remainder of the season as well.

A suitable club is still to be sorted for the Italy Under-21 international but it is expected Serie A will be the most appropriate destination for Macheda, whom Ferguson opted to keep ahead of Welbeck and Mame Biram Diouf last summer.

The United manager is anxious to stress the move is purely short-term and that Macheda has a big Old Trafford future.

However, having seen how Welbeck has blossomed during his stint at the Stadium of Light, Ferguson is now certain a move elsewhere can have massive benefits, especially at a time when he has growing options in attack.

"I had a chat with Federico and explained the Welbeck situation," said Ferguson.

"It can pan out exactly the same for him. It would be the same thing, going to a club, getting that experience for six months and coming back to us a better player.

"The reason we let Danny Welbeck and Mame Biram Diouf go was that they are young and they need games.

"And with Welbeck it has proved the point that through consistent, regular football, you can progress dramatically.

"Okay, in the previous two years he played in two cup finals and an FA Cup semi-final.

"But in a consistent nature he didn't have enough football to produce the kind of performances we are seeing now.

"He has been fantastic for Sunderland and must eventually get in the England squad. That is exactly what we wanted."

Ferguson confirmed that both Welbeck and Diouf, who has not made quite the same impact at Blackburn but has still gained useful experience, will remain with their current clubs for the rest of the season.

However, he needs to speak with Wigan counterpart Roberto Martinez before reaching a decision about the future of midfielder Tom Cleverley.

"Tom has done excellently as well but the agreement with him was always that we would review it in January," said Ferguson.

"I have a fantastic relationship with Wigan so I have not discussed it any further than that.

"The only problem is that we have lost Park Ji-sung to the Asia Cup for the whole of January and I don't have Antonio Valencia back until the end of February, so we are a bit light in that respect in terms of wide positions."

Should United let Macheda go out on loan? Have your say.

21?, Kiko is only 19 years old. I don't think we should loan Kiko out but if Fergie believes it will do him good than I have no probs with it, I will aways back Fergie. Don't loan to Lazio, they didn't care about Kiko until we made him a star, than all of a sudden they and Italy moaned because we took him from them, we have looked after him and made him a superstar. Don't loan to Udinese either, they are doing everything to keep Sanchez from us. Fiorentina, Juventus, Genoa and Parma are all intersted.

Possibly red top speculation , but a good thing if it happens. The lad needs to go somewhere to get a run of games -stating the obvious- and be a focal point in the team, now he can come on for 20 mins , if he doesnt impress then he can shrug his shoulders knowing Rooney or Berba will carry the can -not saying thats his personality but saying thats how it is.

As regards to making the best of your resources ,I would also make the point that this lad is an out and out centre forward and will obviously come on in place of another centre forward , ie Berba /Rooney , but off topic against Bham when we see the one guy who can open up defences- Nani isnt fit why didnt we stick chico on the right , a lad who most would agree looks like he can do a job anywhere along the front line ,beat a player lay it off, beat a player look up cross it .beat a player have a crack,..Chico can do that all day long , there is a huge difference between playing players out of position and giving a player like chico 60 mins on the pitch anywhere upfront where he can get in behind...just my opinion

Macheda is a big part of the future of Manchester United, Fergie is spot on in believing Kiko will be as big hit like Cristiano Ronaldo. Chicharito, Macheda, Welbeck, Cleverley, Obertan, Rafael, Fabio, Smalling, Bebe, J&C.Evans, Eikrem, Norwood, Tunnicliffe, Pogba are the future of United and the future is Red. We have to bring Tom Cleverley back in January. Kiko haves everything to become a United legend, if a 6mth loan will benefit than he should consider it. Good luck Kiko and return better than ever.

Daily Mail is claiming that Wolves, Bolton, Fulham and Roma are also interested, so that would be Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina, Parma, Udinese, Genoa, Roma, Wolves, Fulham and Bolton. Dont do busy with the English relegation sides or Lazio and Udinese, Kiko should join Juventus than he can play arole in their Serie A title chase whiles gaining experience. I wouldn't loan Macheda out but if the greatest of all time Sir Alex Ferguson thinks he'd benefit from first team football for 6mths than I agree.

Wolverhampton, Bolton and Fulham are among a clutch of clubs showing interest in Manchester United striker Federico Macheda after his agent revealed he can go out on loan
Parma are ready to revive their interest in Manchester United’s Federico Macheda
Sir Alex Ferguson closed the door on Macheda leaving on a January loan only last month So yet again he has lied to the fans its strange how players have to leave United to show FERGIE they should never have loaned them in the first place.
Tom played another blinder for Wigan last night and looks 100 times better than Carrick or Fletcher strange Fergie loaned him out twice each time after scoring a great goal
Manchester United are ready to offer RSC Anderlecht €20 million for teenage sensation Romelu Lukaku , according to Belgian sources.
The 17-year-old, dubbed 'The New Didier Drogba" burst onto the scene last season with 18 goals and six assists. And he is well on the way to beating those figures this season, scoring 14 goals and setting up three, and has a league efficiency ratio of a goal and assist every 111.1 minutes
Yes that’s just what we want yet another teenage striker who will end up having to go on loan.Fergie really is going mad.
Fergie MIDFIELD DO YOU GET IT?
Birminghams goal was another travesty but how lucky was GIGGS if Scholes had done that tackle it would have been straight RED.
Michael Carrick is tipping Dimitar Berbatov to stay on the goal trail as Manchester United chase the title. Berbatov scored his 14th league goal of the season at Birmingham
Just lets hope he is gone in January before he inflicts more damage to our chances

united need BEBE - hello deluded hypocritical bitter, why are you here boy as this is a United piece with nothing to do with you, obsession, obsession, obsession, typical bitter. Macheda is a big part of the United future and already better than the whole average and ever so laughable mercenary "team" that is weak fagile City, try focusing on your "club" for once bitter. Juventus is my option if Macheda takes aloan, he could help Juve topple Milan for the Serie A title before coming home to United.

poor little united needs BEBE, what sad little boy you are, hows your rubbish squad doing, bought a trophy yet with your sugardaddies money, poor little skint City cant even do that right and this poor little chap is losing the plot, just like the rest of the 2010 City bitters, hahahahahaha. Not so good Mexican? who, that guy you had once, maybe your thinking of Italian nobody Flopatelli or your English rubbish or all the mercenaries. Chicharito is gonna be the best in the world so your on about him.

If he is to go on loan he should go to a premiership side because he has to learn in the same environment as he is expecting to play. Italy is no good for him as they play a different type of game and I don't think that will help him to become a premiership player. Look at Rossi and Forlan, they couldn't cut it here but are very successful in Spain, a different type of football. Anyway I have the feeling that he is just not good enough, but going to Italy isn't going to tell us.

I think a loan move would be best for him. He's got great talent, but I just get the feeling his all-round play needs improving. He's a natural finisher, no doubt, but his game needs polishing.

However, I do hope he doesn't end up in Serie A, from a purely selfish perspective. I like to keep track of United players on loan, but Serie A games put me to sleep. Halfway through the Milan derby, I was snoring. Personally, Doncaster v Scunthorpe is more interesting than any Serie A match.

Not sure Italy is the way to go.

If he'll fit in better with an Italian side - then let it be.

Otherwise - Aston Villa / Westham might be better for him to be a better EPL player

Saw MOTD last night. Not shocked at all that again Chelsea scored an (appears) offside goal and it stood aswell as not conceding a penalty. It is pathetic how the Mirror points out that Cleverley is a ManUtd player with it claiming he handballed a freekick. Jack Wilshere is a right embarrassment, cheating and diving again, what a girly boy clown. Danny - dont believe everything the papers say. dont understand kid - I reall dont care what you think, you dont know anything and do you even have a brain.

We have to bring back Tom Cleverley in January, last night he proved again that he is that damn good. Better dead than RED - what Dzeko/City talk gotta do with us, nothing so post it on your side. Mark - bloody hell, a City fan with some facts, even if boring and worthless......and totally City, so why post it here feller. Good to see MEN corrected Macheda's age, I mean 21, how the hell they come up with that when Kiko is 19. I'd like Kiko to stay, but it is United's call.

It's definitely a good idea he goes out on loan - we have enough cover up front and I would prefer to have Owen's experience over Macheda in the latter stages of the season, if he stays fit that is!
We have a lot of talent out there on loan which is great for our future - I am most excited about Tom Cleverley coming back, he looks a player and is actually what we need right now.

I know that you rags are the most trite, deluded and bitter set of fans on Earth, however you do make me laugh with your constant use of nicknames for your players. How juvenile.

I have still to catch a glimpse of a shred of talent in this Italian boy. He looks very ordinary to me - certainly not Man United standard. On the other hand I hope I'm proved wrong and he turns out to be a star.
