The Reds manager has been left cold by the fare on offer in South Africa so far and it is unlikely he’ll be on the hotline from his break in the United States to Old Trafford chief executive David Gill with a revised transfer wish list.
Gill already has the names drawn up on Ferguson’s shopping list in his possession but late additions from the World Cup are now not expected.
The United boss revealed he hasn’t been captivated by the 2010 showpiece.
“It's been a disappointing World Cup but I had a feeling it would be,” said Fergie. “I have been disappointed with the quality levels, I have to say. I haven't been impressed at all."
However, at least one name from South Africa has caught his eye and it’s his own new import from Mexico, Javier Hernandez.
The 21-year-old has scored against France earlier in the tournament and will officially become a United player a week on Thursday when his Old Trafford contract starts, having signed from Chivas in Mexico.
Commenting on the striker nicknamed ‘Chicharito’ against the French in Mexico’s second Group A match Fergie said: “He did very well. He showed good movement, is quick and sees space very well. I was very pleased with his performance.”
Ferguson’s incoming transfers for next term have so far centred solely on young players with Chris Smalling’s official switch from Fulham to go through next week as well as Hernandez.
And the United boss is also set to push forward teenage Italian striker Federico Macheda next season instead of farming him out on loan.
Macheda’s agent Giovanni Bia said: “Manchester have no intention of sending him out on loan to anyone and for this reason I exclude any possibility of him being transferred in this transfer window.” Tweet

The way things are going he'd be better off selling Rooney.
If we don't do any other business, get Joe Cole. It's a no brainer.
We shouldnt base any judgements on the world cup esp the early stages. We should know all about any player we sign anyhow so why bother with such a pointless story ? Would Stoke City want to sign Rooney, on this theory not a chance, in realtiy of course but they have no chance !
It would suit SAF and his party line if the world cup did pan out as a dud but if SAF really wanted a player and we did have money this tournament wouldnt come into consideration. I have seen a few players I like the look of that I hadnt seen before. I wouldnt expect that to be the case for Uniteds scouts. Neither would I expect them to say no to a player based on the tournament.
This myth is likely to be peddled by the club and the deluded two for months so get used to it though.
what another load of tosh, gammon chops cant afford anyone, now thats the truth,
I think Macheda is a very good striker and can be devastating in the goal mouth and even outside. He has an eye for goal and is very composed in front of the goal. I expect to see much of him this coming season and I'm certain he will make his mark.
‘Chicharito’ looks great as well. He is quick, strong is the air, he is able to find space and has great temperament. I see him developing very quick and becoming a fearful striker.
I think with these two we have a great crop of strikers for the present and future. What is important is giving them the chance so that they develop quick.
In my opinion, Rooney should be a guarantee up top, but he should start with either ‘Chicharito’ or Macheda, - but my first option would be ‘Chicharito’.
Then we use Berbatov and Owen as the backups. Berbatov has been given his chances so I don't think he has anything to complain about. I like him, he has great skills, but he needs to add goals to his game. So, whoever will bring goals should start but I would go with the kids to give them chance to develop and mature. But in games we need more experience like when Rooney is not available then Berba should be the first choice, then either Macheda or ‘Chicharito’.
Owen on the other hand should be used as an impact player. He is seeing out his career so no need to hinder the progress of the new blood. Remember we also have the KK combo - Kean and King who are also peeping in.
Lovely way of saying were SKINT. But only messi, the mexican full-back(also the little pea) and ozil german midfielder have impressed. Interesting thou that Forlan, Veron, Robinho and Elano have been excellent for the countries.Must be the weather in Manchester, coz it's full of hits, panny and united..........................................................................................................................
I don't think you can just dismiss everyone and say that nobody has stood out just because SAF may not be interested in them.
A few have jumped out at me, not that we should buy them of course its just nice seeing some good players. I like Asamoah of Ghana, Fabiano, Aguero all of them are exciting to watch and some old faces doing very well in Veron and Forlan.
Yet another smoke screen !
It's definitely going to be interesting with Macheda and Hernandez next season. I still doubt that Hernandez is good enough yet, though. He's bought to be a poacher, and we'll see if it comes true.
Macheda is another matter, because he would have been used last season had it not been for injuries. SAF holds him in VERY high regards, and obviously he'll be the one youngster not farmed out.
Diouf and Welbeck will be loaned out. I still have hopes for Welbeck, but it seems, he's been overtaken by Macheda on SAF's list of preferences.
Where does Hernandez fit in with all these young strikers?
Here we go folks! Added to "There's no value in the market" we now get "everyone at the world cup was rubbish... except the little Mexican who we've already signed"
Reports on the BBC today say United will NOT move for Joe Cole
How is it that United, who were once so active in the transfer market chasing the big names, can no be like this? Mmmmm I wonder....
And another point - in previous discussions, people have noted how low the number of United players at the world cup is compared to other clubs. Here's another one: Look at how high the numebr of players United have SOLD are at the World cup. I count EIGHT: Tevez, Veron, Heinze (Argentina), Howard (USA), Tosic (Serbia), Forlan (Uruguay), Pique (Spain), Ronaldo (Portugal).
Selling club
Make that NINE - Kleberson (Brazil)
Fergie also says we won't be signing Cole. I hope he has someone else lined up or maybe we're even more skint than we thought!
Tell us something we dont know Fergie another comment the Glazers will pat you on the head for
SHOCK!!
I just want to wake up one day and see a picture of Fergie in the paper with at least one player holding a red shirt!!!No Joe Cole signing now according to an official senior figure at the club?
I do agree that there is no stand out player in the tournament WHO WE COULD AFFORD OR ATTRACT in the current climate!!??!!But im desperately hoping that this comment means we are in advanced negotiations with a alternative creative midfielder, but i cant see us getting a striker if Hernandez and Macheda are to be pushed hard for a first team start......................ironically though some of the best players are ex-reds,Forlan and Veron!!
Come on United lets get some one in please!!!!
"Gill already has the names drawn up on Ferguson’s shopping list" That'll be a blank piece of paper then. No value, we're happy with what we have, Hargreaves/Anderson will be like a new player etc etc. We aint signing anyone are we?
"Gill already has the names drawn up on Ferguson’s shopping list in his possession but late additions from the World Cup are now not expected."
But has he the money ?
United til i die
We will come back better and stronger, with a few new players
and hopefully Hargreaves as well and a fit and raring to go Rooney
United could probably afford to buy one of the North Korean defenders and a midfielder from New Zealand but then again maybe not unless they are prepared to pay their own air fares.
Come on Norwich!!!
Well said SAF lets move forward with what we have the WC is really poor cant blame the ball all the time can you! or is it the players cant cope with the altitude! Another poor excuse! So lets look forward to next season and remember you cant win anything with kids can you Mr Hanson! So may be, just may be, thats the way we are going next season as from we continually read we are skint. So if we are only going to be able to sign ONE big player for next season. I ask would Eden Hazard from Lille not be the answer or may be at a pinch Wesley S! Just keep the faith and who knows SAF may wave his magic wand just one more time.
Heehee, heehee, heehee.
Do you mean ex star Beckham without whom we are toast, of course you mean flops like Forlan and Veron who are painting SA red. Heeheehee.
Lucky for my fellow idiots on this site that Bulgaria did not come through or Berbatov would have shone.
On another very large site a Mancunian is actually calling himself Berbaflop, is this how we support our foreign players?
I wonder why the damn scousers are called knowledgeable fans. Someone tell me, PLEASE!!
For me every player wearing our shirt receives my support, and I definitely will never knock them on any other site.
I don't find these partisan comments from foreign fans, they really love this club as a package.
Dragging one's fat behind once a week to the OT is your good fortune to be living in Mancunia, why did you misers not buy into the club when you had the chance? That would have been called loyalty. We would have been far better off.
I hope Wazza takes Slovenia to the cleaners but for his sake not the English fans.
Glory Glory Wayne Rooney. LUHG.
How many different ways can the M(U)EN report that the rags are penniless paupers staring into a massive black hole of debt?
According to some reports they can't even afford free transfers (J Cole) anymore.
I too think that some of the big names haven't lived up to expectations and some are just over-rated. Gourcuff for example who I always thought was not that good, showed his true colors in this world cup. He would never make it in the epl in my opinion. That having been said I think Suarez from Uruguay is class. At 23 he reminds me of Michaelf Owen in at his best and his movements around the box is great. He should definitely be our no.1 target. Kjaer from Denmark also lived up to expectations as a class defender and Alexis Sanchez has been one of the best players of the tournament. Robinho would be the man for me if we could just curb his attitude. He is class through and through and is a team player inspite of what some may think. His vision, dribbling and decision making would be a great asset here. I don't know what the manager is thinking but hope he brings in one or two of these players.

Another way of saying : "no value in the market"
