And he claimed that the new Blue hero, who has been in scintillating form going into the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final, is still a United fan at heart.
The Argentine ace went from hero to zero at Old Trafford after his cross-town switch in the summer, and he and the Reds' French left-back have been swapping banter in the build-up to the game.
United fans were unhappy that Tevez snubbed a late United move to sign him in order to join the Blue revolution at Eastlands.
That turned to anger when City put up a cheeky poster in Manchester city centre featuring Tevez and the slogan "Welcome to Manchester".
But Evra has threatened to put the block on Tevez's dream of scoring against his old team.
"I am very excited about this game. I get a text from Carlos every day," said Evra. "I congratulated him on his hat-trick against Blackburn but he replied that was just the warm-up for United! But I told him no chance.
"I will do the same to him as I did in the league. I remember when he shot and I made a tackle at the last second. The ball hit the post because I touched it.
"I have to do the same. I don't want him to score against us. It is still painful when I see him wearing a Manchester City shirt.
"It was not easy for him to move because Carlos was a Manchester United fan in his heart. It was not easy for him. Now he is starting to play well and he is scoring a lot of goals.
"For me, he is a champion guy. I am not surprised how well he is doing because he has a great mentality and a great spirit. He showed he was agood player when he was at Manchester United and now he is doing the same at City.
"But I hope tonight he doesn't show that type of attitude against us."
City boss Roberto Mancini believes that Tevez is in the mood to give his old club some serious problems.
After a mediocre, injury-hit start to life with the Blues, Tevez has burst into spectacular life with 11 goals in his last 10 games, form which earned him the Barclays player of the month award for December.
Mancini has admitted he expressed an interest in signing Tevez when he was Inter Milan manager - and says it was the little man's fighting spirit which most impressed him.
"I liked him from the first time I saw him, because he is a fighter,"said Mancini.
"He also scores some fantastic goals, and has quick feet, so he has it all.
"I hope he can score again, against United in these two games, but not because it is a goal against his former club, but a goal for City."
Evra threw some more spice into the mix when he claimed that the two teams have different aims going into the tie.
He claims that United want the cup, but City only want the kudos of beating their rivals.

Carlos Tevez might just have United running scared at Eastlands tonight.
Carlos Tevez is the non-stop striker who was basically forced out of the Old Trafford door.
But I have to ask myself what set of fans are smiling now. I bet you that over at City, the grins are wider than the Manchester ship canal because they've taken a United reject who has turned out to be a stunning success in a sky blue shirt.
Mind you, I thought Tevez was a stunning success in red and I can't come to any other conclusion than it was wrong to let him move on.
For me, Dimitar Berbatov, who has replaced Tevez, has not done enough at United to suggest he was worth the £32m paid to Spurs.

Don't forget that United had already paid £10m for Tevez's loan deal. So if he cost City £35mil the price to us was £45mil. But of course I cannot defend the fee for Berbatov.

Patrick my son please dont go down his road. You are a decent player who came across has a good professional. Reading your statments over the last 10 days or so seems to me that SAF is using you like he used Neville to be his mouthpiece.
Dont be a fool...Ssssh because City and Tevez are going to ram your words down your silly little immature mouths!!!

Can I just add that I place the blame squarely with SAF regarding the Glazers and their takeover. Had he not peeved off the Irish race horse magnates, they would never have sold their share to these jokers!

"One of the things that attracted me was the great ambition that the club has, so it was a big proposal for me and a big challenge. I didn’t want to lose the opportunity to be a part of it.

Carlos Tevez a STUNNING SUCCESS?????
He had 2 season at United, was very average and spent most of his time on the bench because of that.
So far this season, Tevez has been again VERY AVERAGE for the first 5 months and then scores some goals and now he's a STUNNING SUCCESS? Do me a favour, you are absolutely clueless about football and 90% of my fellow reds on here will back me up on that.
You are a Tool.

Your really funny you should go on stage the reason we won the Champions League was down to Tevez and his tenacity
The reason City are in their position is down to Tevez, and I doubt very much many of your fellow reds would back you up,as none of the professional commentaors would agree with you.
Are you from Yorkshire you know strong in the arm and thick in the head.

Danny i think your little off the mark by suggesting our league position is all down too Tevez, because we have other players with the same hunger and attitude to win and achieve, however it does prove that if he plays regularly he's a world class player, just as he was for you scoring some vital goals regarding your achievements.

"the reason we won the Champions League was down to Tevez and his tenacity" now that is comedy, your going back on your own words you HYPOCRITE. You have said time and time again the ONLY reason united won the champions league final was down to luck and John Terry's slip and Fergies naive tactics.
Make your mind up.

Tevez was overpriced for the value he brought the team. Never more than a sub and the odd start here and there.
Danny says he has brought city up. Where was he in their first big game against Everton?

You are going to see a ground with atmosphere like you haven't done for at least twenty years, and behave yourself we don't want you smashing our burger stands up (like you did at Barnsley) when we thump you.
