5 Rafael: The Brazilian's clumsy challenge handed Hull a second-half penalty and he was caught out of position to let Hunt in early on. But still looked thrilling going forward.
7 Brown: Looked fit and sharp alongside Vidic, producing one brilliantly-timed first-half tackle to deny Garcia.
7 Vidic: How happy Ferguson will have been to see the big Serbian back at the heart of defence. Looked a touch ring-rusty but the defence looked so much more solid with him in it.
6 Evra: At last he had some familiar faces around him after being United's only recognised fit defender in recent weeks. Solid as ever.
6 Valencia: Crossing wasn't at its best but still provided a willing outlet on the right until replaced by Park in the second half.
7 Carrick: Pinpoint pass set Rafael up with United's best chance of the match to that point but never really dominated proceedings in the centre of the park.
7 Fletcher: Industrious and full of energy - he added much-needed bite to midfield also helping out Brown and Vidic on occasion. Brilliant cross for Rooney's goal.
6 Giggs: The Welshman's passing wasn't up to its usual standard despite him getting himself into some useful positions.
9 Rooney: From hero to villain to hero again. A mixed bag for Rooney. His part in Hull's penalty was a moment of madness. But he always looked like being the man to provide the spark - and so it proved.
6 Berbatov: Largely ineffective, the Bulgarian rarely found a way through the Hull defence until a late goal was laid on a plate by Rooney.
SUBS
6 Park (for Valencia, 63) Worked hard and played a part in United's second goal.
5 Obertan (for Giggs, 78) Too late to make a real impact.

5 for Rafael? Not worth commenting on...

You obviously never watched the game RAPHAEL was 8 and his challenge was the fault of Rooney 7 Valencia 2 for being on the field I think its time for somebody who watched the game to do the ratings.
Some separate lines would be good MEN, as the other page looks like Danny, WILMSLOW posted it. You can delete it so far as I am concerned....
Kusczak – Did everything required and is showing admirable lunatic tendencies. Plays like a boy in a bubble sometimes, though. 7
Rafael – Glad to see him back. 7
Evra – Had his Kamikaze pilot head on. 7
Vidic – 6
Brown - Another poster on here has previously described Wes as the "greatest exponent of the standing sliding tackle" and it is true. Wish he had used it today, as it should have been a penalty. The best centre-half since Paul McGrath to play without knees: Golf club legs. 6 and a half
Valencia – The Ham salad cob of wingers: sometimes you want Chicken and Bacon mayo, even though it has more calories. 6
Carrick and Fletcher – IMO, our problems today came in part from being overrun in centre-midfield: we didn’t keep the ball but these two weren’t wholly culpable. 6
Giggs – 6 and a half
Rooney – Sloppy in the first thirty minutes but still scored one and set three up. 8
Berbatov – Looks de-motivated and currently has less penetration than Hugh Hefner. I’m almost certain that he and Rooney can’t play in a 2 up front. 5
Subs
Park – Offered something positive. 6 and half
Obertan – Not enough time to make an impact. Did though stun a passing pigeon with his only cross; when he had LOTS of time. Played one great pass at full pace, though. Possibly destined to be the Andy Cole of wingers?
Away game TV watch
Jamie Redknapp – “Once they scored, you expected United to go on and score two or three. So you have to credit Hull” edge of the seat punditry and completely nonsensical.... 2
Except for Evra and the anonymous Carrick i thought most did reasonably well. Rooney tries unnecessarily too much at times. But the England striker atoned for his moment of madness in style. Well done boys.
Kuszczak 8,
Rafael 6,
Brown 6,
Vidic 7,
Evra 7,
Carrick 7,
Fletcher 6,

27/12/2009 sometimes you seem almost sane!
The ratings are pretty hopeless - as usual. Rafael deserved at least a 7 and Giggs was his old self with his erratic passing and deserved no more than a 4.
DOC You like repeating youself.

Kuszczak 8,Rafael 6.Wes 6,Vidic 7,Evra 6,Carrick 5,Fletcher 5,Giggs 3,Valencia 3,Rooney 7,Berba 4, we wuz lucky.
Too many players are in indifferent form. Fletch was poor and when he and Carrick play there is no midfield drive. They never beat a man. At one point Raphael went on a run and pierced the Hull midfield. It so rarely happens it was like a heavenly vision. It's also good to see Vidic look more like his own self.
With all these injuries and players returning it is only fair to assume it will take awhile for the team form to return but it's the lack of drive and pace that is worrying. That is why seeing Mame will be interesting. If he has pace and physicality, it could make a difference.
Agrees with Magne and Danny. How on earth can you give Raphael 5. You cannot base your ratings on two separate incidents in defense. His supplements going forward is as important as his defensive abilities. 8 and MOM after Rooney.
Berbaflop: 4. Another poor performance. Valencia: you cannot rate a player who wasn't there. Shocking.
Rest of the bunch: 6. Nothing fancy.
Why do we persist with Valencia, he has no skill and is not capable of producing a decent cross. This is not a reaction to his performance today, but his performances since joining. I know at times his battling wins the ball, but once in possesion if turned onto his left foot is completely lost and if he gets down the outside, he normally gets blocked or hits a ball into the first defender or kicks it right across the other side. This is not a question of giving him time to settle in, he just does not have the basic skills in his locker to hold down this position.
I always felt Nani would come good, this season i was as frustrated with him as everyone else is, despite the fact he was played out of position, but for god sake he must be worth 2 or 3 starts on the right wing. I'm sure he will provide a better service to the strikers, despite the fact that his decision making is awful.
Valencia at 17 million is a joke. It's not just the fact that he's the most one-sided player I've every seen (will not even make a 2 yard pass with his left foot), but his crossing ability with his right foot is not even good enough for conference league.
berbatov is very useless he has been given enough time
Carrick 7, Fletcher 7, what game was he watching? if these two as a pair are the future of united, it won't be long before we are joining Liverpoo outside the top 4.
I loved seeing Raphael back in the side, okay he makes the odd mistake, but his passion, industry and ability to get forward is our only attacking threat on the righthand side.
30 million was spent on Berbatov to score goals - where does 30 million Berbatov appear in this list of up to date premiership leading goalscorers

John Terry must be trembling....the second half of the season is coming now....and history tells us that ManUtd will step up a few gears soon.......Rooney was the difference today (like he should be)....but lets not forget it was Hull City...........
Rafael was the only United player in the first half who could pass to a red shirt. Giggs, Berbatov, Rooney and Valencia could hardly find a teammate between them. Berbatov was absymal, despite turning up in the right place, at long last, for a cherry on the top goal. But great work by Rooney to rescue the game - what was he thinking about with the back-pass?
Whoever did the ratings pulled the numbers out of a hat.
5 for Raphael realy insulting. For me he was Utd,s best player after Rooney. He won most of his tackles cleanly ,used the ball well. To give him 5 for 1 clumsy tackle proves what a complete idiot you are.Believe it or not there was another 92 minutes in the game
Rafeal 5, BS!!
The kid had a great game and the penalty was a very professional move, Rooney at fault, Raf did enough to make sure they didn't score without getting a Red! An 8 for him IMHO!
kit kat 7
rafael 7
vidic 7
brown 7
evra 6
valencia 4
carrick 4
fletcher 6
giggs 4
berbatov 4
rooney 6 if i had marked him on his first 60 mins it would have been a 3 as he was shocking and completley incapable of executing a simple 5 yard pass. although he was not alone in that .
united are playing like 11 strangers who have just got together for a kick about and we are DIRE to watch.
8 Kuszczak: Good Saves but some shaky moments and i still get the jitters whenever it is passed back to him.
6 Rafael: Wasteful in position and was napping for their first half chance. Stupid foul for the penalty.
7 Brown: Stable.
9 Vidic: Good to have him back and in form.
6 Evra: Not as effective. .
1 Valencia: Ive said enough about this loser. He managed to put on his left boot though even if it doesnt get used.
6 Carrick: Caught in possesion way too much. Too slow on the ball.
7 Fletcher: Great ball in for the goal and broke up a lot of their play.
6 Giggs: Very wasteful in possession. Can't keep relying on a 36 year old to get us out of jail.
7 Rooney: Ok he was involved in all our goals which is good of course. But he was so wasteful in possession it wasn't even funny.
7 Berbatov: A lot of the times im serious its just the rest of the team aren't on his wavelength when he lays a deft ball on or makes a genius run.
SUBS
6 Park (for Valencia, 63)Normally he is as useless as valencia but this time he was actually ok.
5 Obertan (for Giggs, 78) Too late to make a real impact.
The whole squad was rubbish in first half. Only the shot that Rafael produced after a spendid run was anything to be happy about. Lucky for the lads that they got one right on the break to ease the half way team talk.
I cannot understand how the ref's union, or whoever they are, can penalize SAF for his comments about this refs fitness. He looks like he's going to fall over any minute. The booking of Evra was a joke. Wes' tackle was a penalty, but the one he gave was very harsh. A little clumsy by Rafa, but not enough in it to make the Hull player go flying like that.
Olofinjana and Fagan got away without bookings which is beyond me.
The ratings are also a bit odd. Valencia and Giggs get 6, but Rafael gets 5?????????
Valencia did absolutely nothing today. Completely invicible. When he had the ball he lost it. At least Rafael almost scored in the first half. Giggs was much the same except a close free kick and good delivery on corners before subbed. I think Obertan should have come on in second half for Valencia. Carrick was also really poor today. Fletcher was better and at least got an assist and ran like hell. Where was Anderson?
You can't give Rooney 9 with that back pass. He did well. Maybe an 8 without the backpass, but once he gave that away his performance was forfeit. 7 for me because of his two assists in second half.
Good win, but the display in first half was really bad. Probably the worst United have played all season, except for Rafael's run. The Fulham display was much better even though the result was worse. I'm very uncomfortable about the situation. If this had been the Fulham game United would have lost by 6 or 7.
Blessed relief.
Keeper - 7 Good shot stopping but he'll never be United's number one as the incident where Vidic didn't know whether to head the ball to the keeper or out for a corner testified.
Defence - 7 Good. Central defenders were good considering they were rushed back. Fullbacks less good but not bad.
Midfield - 7 More like it from Fletcher and Carrick. Not great from Giggs and Valencia didn't really do much.
Attack - 8 Constant threat from Rooney and to a slightly lesser extent Berbatov.
Subs - Park was very lively when he came on and had a very positive affect on the game.
Overall, like just about every game in the last two days the quality of football was poor. Passing was off, players couldn't control the ball and skill and goalmouth incident were at a premium. I don't think you can really blame the pitches in every game but the premier league wasn't a great spectacle for the neutral this weekend.
Still, very good three points and we are in a better position in the league than any of you minnies thought we would be. So, I'm happy, even if the minnies will continue to moan.
Just got back following my 3 game suspension by the MEN for accumulating too many offensive comments about our bitter neighbours! I'm back & available for selection now & judging by some recent performances I think I could be in for the Leeds game ! :)
Tom Kantkick Jerry-6-Other teams now seem to be revelling in the fact that he's trapped in Butch's kennel & the lead only stretches 6 yards. Also minus 0ne for dancing like My Uncle Knobhead after our Xmas dinner!
Rapha-6-the lads are really good footballers and experiences like this can only help them, but they need to learn defensive calmness not rashness.
Pat-6-not Pat's best game. As impressions go, he just needs to work on the irish accent more! At one point I was sure he'd taken the festive re-run of the borrowers too far and re-invented himself as J' O'Shea!!
Wes-7-In true seasonal style he brought a real festive glow to the game! At times a tad desperate desperate………not to pass back.
Vida-7-Xmas wouldn't be xmas without TV wrestling on Yorkshire TV! …..Body language towards Tom is quality & if looks could kill.
Tony V-4-Lost in the Humber, hope he can swim.
Michelle-6-looked like he'd had a HT rollicking and whether anyone knew if the Humber Bridge had a safety net. Think he landed in it after 46 mins.
The Snowman-6-Walking in the air with gangly legged Bambi-tastic performance. Typical xmas fare !!
BBC SPotY-5-has it gone to his head? Usual start to the game, lasted until he was subbed though.
The Count-4-Christopher Lee and Xmas activity don't really go hand in hand. It's more of a time for Macauley Culkin or Mrs Doubtfire !
Jnr Phelan-6-Amazing how the worst player on the pitch can be MoM. Suppose it is the season of goodwill though!
Subs
Belliobertan -5- The wily xenomorph was clearly trying to pick out…………………………. John Hurt or Sigourney Weaver on Thedus !!
No balance Transfer-5-application form received.
Ref-2-Obviously thought SaF had arranged to meet him at KfC, not the KC !
SaF-7-just like JC, he can able to turn water into wine.
Happy Xmas, Happy Days.
