Kuszczak: Safe hands throughout and a marvellous save from Diamanti free kick 7

Fletcher: Up against a young opponent and he never gave him a chance at right back 7

Neville: Not in much trouble until he pulled up with groin injury 5

Brown: Very little aerial danger from West Ham’s attack so it was a pretty comfortable afternoon 7

Evra: Didn’t have to be much more than solid to ensure the Hammers didn’t chisel an opening down his flank 7

Valencia: Fairly quiet because of lack of service until he had a burst of power to help put Reds on Easy Street 7

Gibson: Kept everything simple in midfield and struck another absolute beauty 7

Scholes: Cracking goal and ran the show for Reds in the engine room 8

Anderson: The Brazilian didn’t impose himself on midfield but did set up Valencia goal 6

Giggs: Ran the show in the first half and then took a back seat for a while before coming to fore again 8

Rooney: Not much to get his teeth into until a simple tap in presented itself 6

Good Performance!! But May be Sir Alex Should have given a chance to delat instead of carrick would have given him some confidence.

What a strike from Gibbons! Agian! That boy's been watching Bobby Charlton tapes methinks. Rooney's joint top scorer in the league now. Great shot from Scholes, Giggs wonderful again, and Valencia almost smiled! It's looking good...

.I didnt watch the match. But from this ratings I can see Scholes and Giggs are the best. Great show from legends. But what will happen in the future. Anderson supposed to be a world class player at this moment nothing close to it. Nani not even in the bench. Good Gibson coming to the party and also really happy about Kuszczak who deserve his chances and boy he has justified brilliantly for that. Come on Reds. Hope Chelsea will drop points today.

Great performance today, some really good passing and some great moves.I wonder how Chelski would cope with so many defenders out.We are right on their tails. Paul Scholes has still a lot to offer. He is such a genius out there.Flea, Manchester there is nothing wrong to hold Scholsey in such high esteem and think he is one of best ever. In the end of the day it is just an opinion and every opinion counts not just the nasty ones.............

C'm on Bobby Dazzler! What does it take to satisfy some people? It was 4-0 victory away from home against a premier league team with a defence that was literally a patch job. Winning is never an entitlement but 20 years of success have made some fans demand perfection. Scholes and Giggs both hustling to make defensive plays in the final minutes of the game. This is what makes this team special even more than the great attacking play. Well done boys! Great effort all around.

Anderson only 6? C'mon Stuart. One of his best performances in a Utd shirt. Good first touch, quick feet opened them up like a tin of sardines, Gerrard-like drive to take the ball from defence to attack, and got stuck into the tackle. More often than not he's useless, I know, but he ran the show today. Miles better than Gibson, who looked like he was playing in Wellington boots, his superb goal aside.

The MEN has lost all credibility and objectivity this season. United have hammered Wigan, West Ham, Spurs and Porstmouth away from home this season but the ratings have consistently been mediocre.

It appears City played football from another planet tonight judging by the ratings.... not from what I saw: a very good performance.

How come we win 4-0 and get lowish marks,yet the Bitters scrape a 2-1 and get higher marks than Brazil at their peak,even one of their non playing subs got an 8,just for being there. Anyhow,thanks neighbours but I bet it hurt doing us a favour! Back to normal next week--- draw against Bolton!

When he made his grand entrance as a sub against a relegation-threatened team, did Michael Owen touch the ball even once? If he did, I must have blinked at the time.

Richard Dean, Gibson has now scored three cracking goals in two matches so he can't be doing all that badly. Anderson, great game but symptomatic of his season and career at Utd as a whole, sporadic shows of brilliance without pushing on. Re Gibson again, I must say I have been amazed by some of the comments following the Spurs game. I don't think he is a particularly flashy or impressive player but what more can the guy do. The thing he does do well is unfortunately lacking in most of our midfielders so pretty handy to have him about I would say. On the basis of his critics, presumably players like Park, Nani and Anderson even would not be at Utd by now. Beware the folly in saying that a player only does one thing well. As I recall, David Beckham was not particularly quick or a good dribbler but what he did well, i.e. he was a great crosser and dead ball specialist, won us matches.

At least these ratings are down to earth. Reading City's ratings was great fun. Robinho getting an 8 was a laugh. Onouha gave away a penalty, and that was his only contribution. His award for this is a 7, which is the only rating not an 8 or a 9.. Amazing. United could crush Wigan 9-1 and you would never see ratings like that.

Not great opposition but United played their game and didn't come down
to the Hammers level, Scholes was exquisite and barely gave the ball away
the whole game - Anderson needs to study how he does this and copy him.
All our lads played well and fully deserved their win.
Give em all an 8, a nice hot cuppa and some Christmas pud.
Up the Reds!

we beat west ham with a patched up defence but the hammers were also missing several players.

neither goalie had anything like a proper save to make in the first 40 minutes and the fact that united scored with their first shot on target in the first half. the passing was sloppy and careless for long period in that half . thank god we were much better in the 2nd half.

A good performance at one of our tricky grounds.I think Fletch is turning into one of the best allround midfielders around and all his hard work is priceless.If the majority don`t rate Gibson his eye for goal from outside the box could prove priceless.I think we have all forgotten Ronaldo allready.

Giggs and scholes joint mom for me, again we over rely on the two of them in midfield which is a worry as no one bar fletch in midfield can run a game,gibson and anderson did ok but the game passed them both by in large parts,scholes was def the most involved of the 3,giggs did well and valencia did ok.Defence nev was horrendous and if the ref was strict he would have been sent off, call it experience but constantly barging players off the ball and pulling there shirts can only lead to early baths,brown did ok till he inevetible got injured,evra excellent as usual and fletch contained any threat on the other flank, kitkat shot stopping excellent , kicking and dealing with crosses still is awful. Upfront rooney was a bit isolated but worked hard,berba and owen created nothing for themselves when they came on,carrick found his ideal position doesnt have to move much and can pass the ball back to the goalie easier.

Kitkat - 7 Never had anything to do but when he did he did well but one dodgy clearance.

Fletcher - 7 Decent in a position he's not familiar with.

Brown - 7 Solid all night till he went off

Neville - 6 Not bad. Mark deducted for his old man dance when he pulled up injured,

Evra - 7. Usual dependable defender. Our pocket rocket. Unlucky not to score after a great run.

Valencia - 7. Another persistent and ultimately fruitful performance down the right flank. Another well deserved goal and assist for Rooney.

Anderson - 7. Energetic and aggressive and seemed to last the entire match or were my eyes deceiving me. Great ball for Anderson's goal.

Scholes - 8. Another masterclass by Scholes. Unfortunately got himself banned for Villa match after his most innocuous challenge of the entire match.

Gibson - 6. 1 for the wonder strike - a truly magnificent goal. Still has the positional sense of an eight year old in a school yard though. Midfield goal hanger. Combine him and Fletcher and you would have Robbo.

Giggs - 7. Renaissance man. Another solid performance.

Rooney - 7. Harrying and pressing and providing great runs pulling defenders all over the shop.

Subs

Carrick - 10. Rio mark 2!

Owen - 5. I don't see any more from him.

Berbatov - 6. Cultured and inventive. Sensible haircut.

I'm very with you on this one. How boobydazzler can give Gibson a four is beyond me! That goal alone is worth at least a seven. What a strike! Admittedly, I only heard the game on the radio, then tuned into the highlights later, but I was certainly impressed.

Magnificent goal from Scholes, perfectly timed in many ways (not least his earler admissions of self doubt). Gibson's goal can only further swell his self belief, and a make shift defence keeping a clean sheet. And all this at one of our most troubling bogey grounds!

Throw in chelsea losing (even if it was to the small, bitter ones) and I can certainly say I slept extremely soundly last night.

So come on boobydazzler, and any other down-in-the-mouths, a little perspective would not go amiss.
