New deal for Macheda

UNITED have signed up Federico Macheda on a new four-year contract extension.

The 18-year-old Italian striker’s deal will keep him at Old Trafford until 2014.

“We are delighted by the new four year deal, everyone at the club recognises the fantastic talent he has and we hope to see that develop in the next years, so he becomes a well rounded player,” said Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Meanwhile the Roman said, “I am very happy to commit my future to Manchester United. I really enjoyed myself last season when I came on and I hope to get more chances like that and contribute to the team’s success.”

Macheda began his career at his local club Lazio but the Italian couldn’t sign him on professional terms until he was 18 and the Reds nipped in and snatched him up as a 16-year-old.

He joined the Reds academy in September 2007. Last season he made a stunning breakthrough for the first team scoring a stunning injury-time winner against Aston Villa last April after coming on as a substitute.

Six days later he grabbed a second senior goal scoring another winner at Sunderland.

At his age he's got all the time in the world. Clearly not ready yet but probably a different kettle of fish in a couple of years time.

you idiots who are slating him dont have a clue. he's got incredible knack of finding space in crowded areas around the box. a typical italian marksmen whos going to be a massive player. no pace? you obviously cant see from bangladesh khalad saladman

Reminds me of Salvatore Scillacci. Just can bang them in out of nothing. Who cares about pace when you can trap a ball turn and hit it like he did against Villa. You can't coach that. The important thing is that he gets a chance, unlike Forlan, Rossi and Owen now. I mean a real chance, not in and out of the team and short sub appearances.

Some of you on here make me laugh. Macheda has spent a lot of the time away with the Italian U-18's. He's a prospect, he's not the finished article by any means. What I like about him, he does off the cuff moves, he'll make it no problems.

It's simple really, the boy has all the hallmarks of the most valuable commodity in football ... a natural goalscorer. Add to that his impressive physique, and we could well have a potential world star on our hands.

Don't think much of Macheda. Ched Evans with hair gel and a tan basically.

But lets be honest, Utd could show up with the tea lady, the kit man and one of the ball boys and still win the game at the moment.

Fergie can you please stop squeezing the maximum possible out of your threadbare squad. It is extremely irritating.

Wheres this collapse in form I've been waiting for? At this rate the Glazers will sell the club to someone who can properly afford it and we'll be back to square one. Humph!

Macheda will deliver far more than Cheddar Evans though, SAF is too good at grooming these tanned boys...

Excellent news! What we have here is a talented boy with good awareness of space. Combine that with what his physical prowess could be in say 8 - yes eight years - when he reaches physical maturity, then we could have a superb player. It's not chance that's Fergie's always moaning about him always being away with the Italian U21 squad, the world champions obviously rate him highly.

Fantastic prospect.Only 18 with a great physique and a great finisher. Also has the knack of creating chance's for himself out of nothing.Great technique also. Just think how good he will be when he's 23-24-25! A better prospect than Welbeck IMO.Although i belive Welbeck will become a top player.

Uwe: Comparing Macheda to CHED EVANS! Come on you clown, you cant be serious.Thats like comparing Ronaldo to Pennant.And a threadbare United squad! What a bitter bertie fool you are.We can have TWO completely quality different back 4's like Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra &
Neville, Ferdinand, Brown, Fabio with O'Shea and De Laet on top of that. In midfield we can have
Valencia, Hargreaves, Fletcher, Giggs & Obertan, Carrick, Anderson, Park and with
Nani, Scholes, Gibson on top of that. We also have a certain chap called Adem Ljajic coming in January.And up front we have Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Macheda, Welbeck with Mame Diouf also arriving in January who is leading scorer in Norway again at Molde.So makes a mockery of that statement.Not to mention we could also sign 1-2 in January.
