After leaving Newcastle last summer, Owen caused a minor sensation when he accepted Sir Alex Ferguson's request for him to join the Old Trafford outfit.
At the time it was felt the deal would offer England's fourth highest goalscorer an instant way into Fabio Capello's World Cup squad, but it has not quite worked out like that.
Owen has yet to gain an England recall and although he was handed a starting berth against Everton today he has still only started seven of a possible 20 competitive games and couldn't find the net against his boyhood idols.
However, that has not left Owen regretting joining the Reds, far from it.
“I have played in a team that was struggling and I much prefer life at a winning club, even if that means I don't play every minute of every game,” Owen said.
“I am here at a club that is full of quality, training with top players every day and working under a top manager.
“I have had my fair share of starts and minutes on the pitch this season, so I am not about to complain.”
In fact, Owen likens it to his short stint at Real Madrid, where he made a positive impact from the bench.
“In Madrid it was a similar story,” said the 29-year-old.
“I didn't start every game but I ended up with the best goals-to-minutes ratio in the league.
“You can twist stats any way you want, all I am concerned about is scoring as many goals as I can.”

Owen offered absolutely nothing. He has nothing to offer Utd and his all round game is appalling. He slows down are attacks through his link play and I don't need to mention his finishing.
Once again, Giggs' final ball failed almost every time. Valencia on the other wing did what he always does, no better no worse. He is NOT a Utd player. Don't be fooled by the result. Everton were shocking and there was not one piece of outstanding play in our performance, bar Fletcher's goal. Who honestly thinks we would have a chance of beating Barca over two legs. That is the depressing truth. Things can change quickly, but bar Berbatov and Rooney, there is not one offensive player capable of something extraordinary.

He would be so electric on our team.
