PAUL Scholes reckons Sir Alex Ferguson can keep United on the glory trail well into his 70s.
The veteram midfielder has told his manager to shelve any retirement plans - claiming he can continue to outwit his rivals for years to come.
Fergie refuses to set any date for when he plans to call it a day - but after recently celebrating 23 years at Old Trafford and nearing his 68th birthday, time is running out.
Scholes, though, is convinced he can keep going as long as he wants. He said: "His record speaks for itself. Twenty-three years is a long time and, hopefully, he can continue to be here and win trophies for a long time to come.
"Other teams don't have the benefit of having a manager for so long.
“I think it goes to show what can be achieved if you have a manger for so long and the trophies they can win.
“I've known no different. When I played for England there was a change of manager from time to time and it probably didn't seem to help most of the time. I've been lucky enough to play under one manager and it has been great.”
Ferguson has got the better of all-comers since taking over at United in 1986.
This season he faces a new test in Carlo Ancelotti, who has made an impressive start at Chelsea – currently five points clear of United at the top of the table.
But Scholes is confident the champions can bridge the gap
This is the last international break for a while,” he said. “Then we have to kick on in the league and all the major competitions.”

Fergo will carry on managing and bumbling along in his ever increasingly incoherent way for another two years, I have a feeling that they are going to be a barren spell. He should go now so the 'Rags' can remember him going out just past his best instead of a 'hasbeen'

failed miserably, Sir Matt, Sir Alex, these are the men players will follow into war blindly, confident their managers have the right stuff to
keep them safe, and sucessful. No manager has been better than SAF!
Up the Reds!

easy one answer my bitter little friend
since 92 (start of the epl) united/fergie have spent £8.1 million per season (nett) and won 25 trophies.
Over the same time period you massives have spent £16.25 million per season (nett) and won.........zip

Shows how sad and affected by City you seem to be when you find a need to trawl the www for information you think will upset and cause a stir with the City fans.
