Evra helped his country to a 1-0 play-off victory over the Republic of Ireland at Croke Park to give them a massive advantage as they prepare to complete the job at the State de France on Wednesday.
And the Reds defender said: "Ireland are a difficult team to play against and we are taking nothing for granted.
"They are a strong team and in the first-half, we didn't play well because we just played the long ball and Ireland like to play against the long ball.
"In the second-half, we came back with another mentality and showed our quality. We played much better football and that's why we deserved to win.
"But it is just half-time. Ireland will come to the Stade de France for a win and we need to be strong again and win that game. It's very important.
"Now it is only one game and France want to go to the World Cup."
And skipper Thierry Henry is also taking nothing for granted, saying: "I am happy, but it is kind of half and half. There is still 90 minutes to play in France.
"We have got another game on Wednesday and this Irish team is a very good team.
"We got kind of a lucky goal, but in saying that, we played well in the second-half.
"But there is still 90 minutes to go, so I can only answer that question properly over there."
France got their noses in front when the unfortunate Sean St Ledger deflected Nicolas Anelka's 72nd-minute shot past Shay Given.
Republic captain Robbie Keane urged his players not to throw away all their hard work and insists Giovanni Trapattoni's men can still qualify.
He said: "Since the manager has come in, we have been solid away from home and very hard to beat.
"Now our backs are against the wall a little bit and we are up against it.
"But there's a carrot dangling at the end of it, it's the World Cup and the lads are desperate to go to it.
"Obviously, we would be devastated and disappointed after all the hard work we have done so far if we didn't qualify.
"But we have got a chance, there's no question about that. This was our first defeat in 11 games so we reckon we still have a good chance."
